Mondo Variant Rules

Hey there! I’m here to tell you all about the cool and exciting Mondo Variant Rules. These rules add a whole new level of fun and challenge to the game. So, let’s dive right in, shall we?

Variant 1: Speedy Gonzales Mode

Are you feeling the need for speed? Well, this variant is for you! In Speedy Gonzales Mode, you and your friends will have to think fast and act even faster. The timer is set to turbo mode, giving you only a limited amount of time to come up with your answers. It’s a real race against the clock!

Variant 2: Bizarro World

Are you tired of the same old answers? Then Bizarro World is the variant for you! In this mode, we flip the script and turn everything upside down. The answers you thought you knew will be completely different. It’s a mind-bending twist that will keep you guessing!

Variant 3: Wild Wild West

Yeehaw! Saddle up and get ready for a wild ride with the Wild Wild West variant. In this mode, the questions and answers are all themed around the Wild West. It’s a rootin’ tootin’ good time that will transport you back to the days of cowboys and outlaws. Just watch out for those tumbleweeds!

Variant 4: Lucky Duck

Feeling lucky? With the Lucky Duck variant, you’ll need all the luck you can get. In this mode, each player is given a lucky duck token that they can use to change their answer if they think they’ve made a mistake. But be careful, you only get one lucky duck per game, so you’ll have to use it wisely!

Variant 5: Mastermind

Do you fancy yourself a mastermind? Then this variant is perfect for you. In Mastermind mode, one player takes on the role of the mastermind and comes up with their own custom questions. It’s a fun way to show off your creativity and challenge your friends with your devious questions!

So there you have it, the amazing Mondo Variant Rules! These variants will take your game to a whole new level and keep you coming back for more. Which one will you try first? The choice is yours!

If there are some really good players at the table, you can ask them to make things more interesting. They can take on a handicap to level the playing field. Instead of using a volcano chip, each handicapped player gets 1 minus point for every active volcano on the board. But don’t worry, if you don’t have a handicap, you won’t get any minus points for volcanos.

The inactive volcanos don’t give you any minus points either. But if you want to make the game even harder, you can add 1 minus point for each inactive volcano too.

Now let’s talk about the back side of the world board. It’s like a whole new game! You can choose any level of difficulty, even play it by yourself. The landscapes that touch the edge of the board are considered enclosed on that edge. Just remember, water landscapes don’t count. They also don’t count as a lake if they touch the water edge. So go ahead and explore this new side of the game for even more fun!

Before I start playing the game, I can choose which side of the world board to use. It’s up to me!

Keep the Time Hidden

Make sure no one can see the timer while it’s counting down.

Play with Less Time

If I’m experienced and want a faster game, I can shorten the time to 4 minutes. If a player quits, the turn ends immediately for everyone. But be careful, there can’t be more than 3 empty fields.

Take Your Time

In this version, we don’t start the timer at the beginning of the turn. The first player to quit sets the timer for 1 minute.

Random Extra Challenges

Instead of placing the additional tasks in the middle, distribute them randomly to the players. Of course, you have to complete these challenges, or you’ll lose points.

Sologame Handicap

When you play the game, you can’t flip the landscape tiles at any time. This means that after you place a tile on the world board, the top side of the tile remains the same as before, right in the middle.

A game for just you and a friend

When you play by yourself or with one other person, there are some special rules to follow. Both players can use the Volcano Chip, and you should also include the two Bonus Chips. The goal is still to have the fewest minus points, with the Bonus Chip counting positively. And remember, you only have 7 minutes to play!

Playing with children

If you’re playing with younger children, you can use the beginner game and give yourselves more time. You can also simplify the scoring to make it easier for them.
