So, here’s a new twist for you to try – it adds more randomness and uncertainty to the game.

What to Do After Setup:

  • Take all the event cards (not the placeholder cards) and shuffle them together.
  • Add 2 random event cards to each of the three draw piles.
  • Keep the other event cards and the placeholder cards separate; we won’t be using them.

During the game, whenever a player draws an event card, they have to resolve it right away. And guess what? After resolving it, they get to draw another card!

Discovery Events

Now, here’s a twist specifically for when the marshal discovers a hideout.

  • Before you start playing, shuffle all the event cards together and put them somewhere near the place where you’re playing. Don’t use the placeholder cards – they’re not part of this.
  • While we’re playing, if the marshal correctly guesses where I’m hiding, I have to draw an event card from the event pile and deal with whatever happens.

Events That Can Help Me

Let me give you a hand with one of the players.

When we’re setting up:

  • I’ll separate all the events that have the player’s icon who needs help (either the fugitive or the marshal).
  • I’ll evenly mix those events into each of the three draw piles.
  • I won’t use the other event cards or the place holder cards. They can be set aside.

While we’re playing: if either of us draws an event, we’ll take care of it right away. And then we’ll draw another card.

Catchup Events

This part will help the player who’s currently falling behind.

During Setup:

  • I’ll sort the event cards into 3 piles based on their icons, whether they’re for the fugitive, the marshal, or if they have no icon at all.
  • Each pile will be shuffled.
  • I’ll keep the event piles close to the play area, making sure to keep track of each pile.

When I play the game, I need to shuffle 2 placeholder cards into each of the 3 draw piles of hideout cards. Then, during the game, whenever either player draws a placeholder card, I have to draw and take care of an event card from one of the event piles. Which event pile I draw from depends on how many hideouts are currently face-down in the center row. If there is 1 hideout face-down, I draw and handle an event from the fugitive’s event pile. If there are 2 hideouts face-down, I draw and resolve an event from the neutral event pile. And if there are 3 hideouts or more face-down, I draw and resolve an event from the marshal’s event pile. After I resolve an event, I get to draw another card.
