Exploring Alternative Rules for Chrononauts
Introduction
Hey there, time travelers! Have you ever felt like shaking things up in your games of Chrononauts? Well, I’ve got some exciting news for you. There are variations to the regular gameplay that can make your time-traveling adventures even more thrilling. Let me walk you through some of these alternative rules and options.
The “Change the Time” Rule
One intriguing variant is a rule called “Change the Time.” Here’s how it works. When you’re dealt a new hand of cards, you have the option to discard the entire timeline and start fresh. This can be a risky move, as it wipes away all your progress and you’ll have to start setting up the timeline from scratch. However, it also presents an opportunity to create a completely new path to victory.
The “Points Limit” Rule
Another fun variation is the “Points Limit” rule. As you know, the goal of the game is to collect the specific cards that match your ID and restore history. In this variant, instead of playing until someone restores history, you play until someone reaches a certain number of points. This adds a new layer of strategy, as you have to weigh the value of different actions and decide whether to go for high-point cards or focus on restoring history.
The “Race to Save History” Rule
If you’re looking for an adrenaline-fueled challenge, the “Race to Save History” rule might be just what you need. In this variant, all players are trying to restore history simultaneously. The first player to successfully restore history is the winner. This creates a fast-paced and highly competitive atmosphere, where every move matters and the tension is palpable. Are you up for the challenge?
The “Random Events” Option
Now, let’s talk about the “Random Events” option. If you want to add an element of surprise and unpredictability to your game, this is the way to go. In this variant, you include a deck of random event cards that can be played at any time. These cards introduce unexpected twists and turns, forcing players to adapt their strategies on the fly. It’s a fantastic way to keep your opponents on their toes and make each game feel fresh and exciting.
Conclusion
So, there you have it, fellow time travelers. These variant rules and options allow you to inject new life and excitement into your games of Chrononauts. From reshaping the timeline to racing against the clock, the possibilities are endless. Whether you choose to explore one rule at a time or mix and match them, be sure to keep an open mind and embrace the thrilling possibilities of alternate time-traveling adventures. Happy playing!
Welcome to a solitaire game that will challenge you to get eight Chrononauts home on a single pass through the deck. It’s a fantastic way to learn the ins and outs of the TimeLine when you don’t have any opponents to play a full game with.
Are you ready to play? Let’s go!
First things first, gather all the Artifacts, Gadgets, Actions, Timewarps, and Missions and set them aside. Now, shuffle the Patches and Inverters together, and set up the TimeLine just like you would in a regular game.
Next, deal out eight ID cards randomly and place them face-up underneath the TimeLine. Then, take five cards from the play deck and line them up under the characters.
Once you’ve finished setting up, we can start playing!
Choose one of your five cards and play it just like you would in a regular game. The only difference is that you won’t draw an extra card after playing a Patch.
Keep playing, using your strategy skills to get all eight Chrononauts home. Good luck!
If you know you won’t need any Patches, go ahead and discard them. Just keep five cards and continue playing until one of your characters can make it home.
Move that character up to the space above the TimeLine and keep going. Remember, you only have one chance to go through the deck, so be sure to plan carefully!
End of the Game
To win, you need to get all eight of your characters home before you run out of cards.
To Change the Challenge
If you want to make the game even more challenging, try starting with more IDs. Or, if you want it to be easier, play with only six or seven characters.

Getting Started
First things first, let’s get set up. Take a moment to separate all the Artifacts, Actions, Timewarps, and Missions. The remaining cards in the deck won’t be used for this game, but they can come in handy for anyone looking to play Solonauts.
Hey there! It’s amazing you’re interested in this game. Let’s dive in and take a look at what it’s all about.
First off, we have some cool gadgets like the “Beatles Reunion CD” and the “German Cake” artifacts. But wait, there’s more! We also have an awesome action called ‘Your Parents Never Met’. It’s gonna be a wild ride.
Now, let’s get set up. Take all the artifacts, actions, and timewarps and shuffle them together. Each player gets three cards, and to add some mystery, one random mission card is given.
Game Play
The game begins with each player taking turns drawing one card and playing one card. We keep going like this until someone completes their top-secret mission. Exciting, right?
When you come across an artifact, simply place it face-up on the table in front of you. Easy peasy.
If you encounter an action or a timewarp card, don’t worry! Just put it on the discard pile and follow the instructions written on it. It might surprise you!
End of the Game
Guess what? The game ends when someone has all three artifacts listed on their mission card, displayed in front of them when their turn comes to an end. If that someone is you, congratulations, you’re the winner!
