Anachrony Variant Rules

Hey there! Let’s dive into the exciting world of Anachrony variant rules. Are you ready for some mind-bending gameplay? Well, hold onto your hats because things are about to get interesting!

In the game of Anachrony, there are a few special rules that you can add to spice things up. These variant rules add an extra layer of complexity and strategy to the game, making it even more thrilling.

First up, we have the “Alternate Timeline” rule. This rule allows you to play the game in a parallel universe where history has taken a different path. In this timeline, some of the regular actions you would normally take are replaced with new, unique actions. It’s like stepping into a whole new world of possibilities!

Next, we have the “Temporal Vortex” rule. This rule introduces a mysterious element to the game. As you play, you’ll come across swirling vortices that can transport you through time. These vortices allow you to travel back in time and take actions that you missed in previous rounds. Talk about a game-changer!

Now, let’s talk about the “Nuclear War” rule. Brace yourself, because this adds a new level of tension to the game. In this variant, a war between factions is looming, and nuclear missiles are at the ready. You’ll have to strategize carefully to protect your city and make sure your faction comes out on top. It’s all about survival in this intense setting.

Last but not least, we have the “Mutation” rule. In this variant, the world is experiencing some genetic abnormalities, and your workers can mutate into powerful beings with unique abilities. It’s a fascinating twist that adds a whole new dimension to the game.

So, there you have it. These variant rules offer a fresh take on the Anachrony experience, allowing you to explore alternate timelines, manipulate time itself, face the threat of nuclear war, and witness genetic mutations. If you’re looking to take your gaming to the next level, these variant rules are a fantastic addition to your gameplay. Get ready to immerse yourself in a whole new dimension of Anachrony!

When it comes to the Warp phase, there’s a fun way to make it even more interesting: the Alternate Timeline gameplay variant.

The Alternate Timeline variant is like a whole new strategy game within the game. It’s a way to shake things up and keep your opponents guessing.

Here’s how it works: instead of playing out the Warp phase like you normally would, with all the usual rules and actions, you get to mix things up. You can change the order of events, play different cards, and even introduce new actions to the phase.

Imagine the possibilities. Maybe you want to jump ahead to the future and see what’s in store. Or maybe you want to go back in time and undo a mistake you made earlier. With the Alternate Timeline variant, you have the power to shape the game in ways you never thought possible.

But be careful – this variant is a double-edged sword. While it can give you a big advantage, it can also backfire if you’re not careful. Think strategically and consider all the possible outcomes before making your move.

If you’re looking for a way to elevate your game to the next level, then the Alternate Timeline variant is for you. It adds a whole new layer of depth and unpredictability to the Warp phase, keeping you on your toes and ensuring every game is different from the last.

So, here’s the deal: when the Timeline is set up, we flip all the tiles to their crimson-colored side. Now, pay attention because this side is where things get interesting. Some of the Warp slots on this side have special bonuses or penalties.

When we play with the Alternate Timeline, we have to stick to the standard player order. That means we follow the usual clockwise rotation, starting with the First Player, when it’s time to reveal and place our hidden Warp tiles.

When it’s your turn to reveal and place your Warp tiles, here’s what you gotta do: put them in the first available empty slot(s), following the arrows. Easy peasy, right?

Now, here’s a cool trick: if you wanna be sneaky and place two Warp tiles at once, you get to choose the order. Just make sure to pay attention to those bonus or penalty symbols. If your tile lands on one of those slots, you’ll get the bonus or penalty right away. Cool, huh?

And guess what? Here are some of the bonuses you might find on those Crimson Timeline tiles:

Inspiring Message: You got this! Gain 1 Morale.

Hey there! Guess what? I’ve got some exciting news for you. You’re about to embark on a journey towards a fantastic future. How’s that for an adventure? Just by reading this, you’re already racking up a victory point! Pretty neat, huh?

As you may know, the Parallel Timeline is a special feature in our game. Let me explain it to you. When you land on the Warp tile, you will receive an extra asset. This means that you get a bonus – another piece to help you in the game. It’s like an unexpected gift that can make a big difference in your strategy. This Parallel Timeline can really shake things up and change the course of the game. So, when you see that Warp tile, get ready to receive a nice surprise!

Hey, check out this cool thing – it’s called a Stable Time Rift! What it does is remove 1 Paradox from play. Pretty neat, huh?

Now, let’s talk about these Alternate Timeline tiles. They can be a little tricky, but I’ll break it down for you. You might encounter some penalties on these tiles, so keep an eye out. They can be kind of a bummer, but don’t worry – we can handle it.

Important Notice: You will lose 1 Morale.

Hey there! Guess what? I have some news for you. Brace yourself because it might not be what you want to hear. But hey, the truth can be tough sometimes, right?

So here’s the deal. I just got word that something not-so-great is about to happen. And unfortunately, it’s going to affect you. How? Well, you’re going to lose 1 Morale. Ouch, I know.

I know it’s not easy to hear that you’re about to lose something that’s important to you. Morale is a big deal, after all. It’s what keeps us going, helps us stay positive, and gives us the motivation to keep pushing forward.

But hey, don’t let this get you down. Losing 1 Morale might feel like a setback, but it’s not the end of the world. You’ve got what it takes to bounce back and keep going strong.

Remember, life is full of ups and downs. It’s all about how you handle them that really matters. So, take a deep breath, dust yourself off, and keep on fighting. You’ve got this!

In the game, there’s something called a Collapsing Time Rift, and whenever I encounter one, I gain a Paradox. It’s a pretty strange phenomenon, but it adds an interesting twist to the gameplay.

Now, here’s a note that you should keep in mind: if I ever have to return a Warp tile on a Parallel Timeline slot using Time Travel later on, I only have to pay for one of the respective assets, even though I received two when I placed the Warp tile. It’s a neat little rule that makes things a bit easier for me.

Gameplay Variant – Starting Asset Draft

If you want to add more variety to your starting assets each game, you can try out the Starting Asset Draft. It’s a cool way to mix things up.

Instead of giving each player the starting assets shown on their Path board during the Setup, we can switch it up. Each player will receive a different set of starting assets.

  • There are 2 active scientists
  • There is 1 active engineer
  • There are 2 energy cores
  • There are 2 water resources

Next, distribute the required number of Starting Asset cards to each player:

When playing a game with two players, you begin by each drawing eight cards. If you’re playing with three players, each person takes five cards. And in a game with four players, you get four cards each.

Once you have your cards, it’s time to make your choices. Each player selects one card from their hand and places it face down in front of them. Then, you pass the remaining cards to the person on your right. Keep doing this until everyone has chosen four cards. Make sure to put the extra cards back in the box. Remember, in a two-player game, you’ll have eight cards left, while in a three-player game, you’ll have three cards remaining.

Now it’s time to see what assets you have received. Each player gets to keep the assets printed on the four cards they selected.

Finally, add up the numbers on the bottom of your chosen cards. The player with the lowest sum becomes the First Player in the first Era. If there is a tie, the player with the lowest-numbered card takes on the role of the First Player.

Here’s an optional rule for gameplay: Endgame Condition Draft.

Hey there! Let me tell you about the Endgame Condition Draft, a cool feature that gives you more control over what will earn you extra Victory Points in the game.

Gone are the days of randomly selecting 5 endgame Condition cards. Now, we’ve got a better way:

  • If there are 2 players, each player gets dealt 4 cards. Then, both players choose 2 cards from that set and reveal them at the same time.
  • If there are 3 or 4 players, each player gets dealt 2 cards. Then, each player picks one card from that set and reveals it alongside everyone else.

But wait, there’s more! From the leftover cards that weren’t dealt initially, you get to choose one extra card (or two if you’re playing with 3 players). This card is added to the ones you’ve already picked. So now, you’ll have a total of 5 Endgame Condition cards to strategize with.
