5. Once you complete your route, you can consider starting a new one. When there are fewer trains left, it’s often better to go for the longest track. A train connection of 6 pieces is worth 15 points, even if it doesn’t connect cities.
6. Don’t be afraid to draw destination cards at the beginning of the game (especially in the first few turns).
7. If you have a long continuous route through the middle of the board and you’ve been waiting for cards of a certain color to complete a short route, it’s better to give it up and go for a new route.
8. Take open locomotives whenever you can instead of risking it with 2 non-visible cards.
9. In 1vs1 games, you can save your cards in hand longer and build on a route for a longer time.

If you’re way behind in points, try drawing 3 tickets. Hopefully, you’ll get one that you’ve already completed.

If possible, play long distance train routes to the same destination. Scoring 6 one-train routes or 3 two-train routes is much better than a single 5-train or 6-train route.

Check for bottlenecks and take control of them as soon as possible, or you’ll be forced to go around.

Draw cards from the deck unless you need trains for a specific route. You don’t want your opponents to know what you’re up to, or they’ll block you.

Place trains on the less popular routes first and save locomotive cards until you absolutely need to play them.
