In each game, there are different territories that give players special advantages. To control a territory, a player needs to have more colonies there than any other player. When you control a territory, you get the territory counter.

For example, let’s say I have two colonies on Lem Badlands, and Green, Yellow, and Blue each have one colony on Lem Badlands. Since I have the most colonies on the territory, I control Lem Badlands.

If two or more players have the same number of colonies on a territory, none of them control it. Nobody gets the bonus for that territory. The counter stays on the territory and nobody controls it.

Example: There are two colonies each for the team Red and Yellow on the Lem Badlands. On the other hand, team Green and Blue each have one colony on the Lem Badlands. Since Red and Yellow have the same number of colonies, no team controls the territory, and as a result, no one earns the territory’s bonus.

If you want to get the Relic Ship, you’ll need to spend 1 fuel and 1 ore. Once you have it, just place it on the Maintenance Bay and keep it with your other ships until your next turn. But be careful! If you lose control of the territory, you’ll have to send the ship back to Burroughs Desert right away.

The Relic Ship works just like any other ship in your fleet, with one exception – it doesn’t have a color. And whenever it would normally be put back in the ship stock, it goes back to Burroughs Desert instead.

For more information, check out the Terraforming Station and the special discard power of a Plasma Cannon card. And if you’re the one in charge of Burroughs Desert, you can buy the Relic Ship again on your turn.

Example 1: Picture this: You are in charge of Burroughs Desert, leading a colony and utilizing the Relic Ship. Then, another player comes along, builds their own colony, and puts it on Burroughs Desert. At this point, neither of you can claim control over the territory. So what happens next? Example 2: Let me paint a picture for you: Your trusty Relic Ship is safely docked at the Lunar Mine. Suddenly, another player throws a Stasis Beam your way and places an Isolation Field on Burroughs Desert. Now, here’s the catch: you have to give up your Relic Ship right away and can’t get it back until that Isolation Field is removed from Burroughs Desert.

Example 3: Imagine you have a special ship called the Relic Ship, and it has a number 6 on it. You decide to park your Relic Ship at the Terraforming Station so that you can establish a colony there. The interesting thing is that when your next turn begins, your Relic Ship doesn’t remain at the ship stock. Instead, it magically returns to the Burroughs Desert. But don’t worry, you have the opportunity to buy it back on that very same turn.

Typically, any trades you make would be at a three-to-one ratio, where you trade three units of fuel for one unit of ore. However, if you control Heinlein Plains, you have a special advantage. You will always trade at a one-to-one ratio, meaning that no matter the value of your docked ships, you will only need to trade one unit of fuel for one unit of ore. This gives you a significant edge in trading.
