Stories of Dead of Winter

Tales from the Icy Depths of Winter

Winter is a season known for many things: snowflakes gently falling, hot cocoa by the fire, and cozy nights spent bundled up in blankets. But what about the darker side of winter? The stories that send shivers down your spine and make you question what really lurks in the frozen shadows. These chilling tales will transport you to a world where the cold bites at your skin and the howling wind whispers of long-forgotten secrets.

The Haunting of Frostbitten Manor

Once, in a small village nestled deep in the wintry woods, there stood an old mansion known as Frostbitten Manor. Legend had it that anyone who dared to enter its icy halls would be greeted by ghostly apparitions and a bone-chilling cold that seeped into their very soul. The villagers spoke of haunting whispers and strange, unexplained happenings. Some claimed to have seen the frozen specter of a long-lost soul wandering the grand ballroom, forever seeking redemption.

As I approached the manor, a sense of unease washed over me. The air grew colder, and I could feel unseen eyes watching my every move. With trepidation, I pushed open the heavy wooden door and stepped inside. The interior was draped in a thick layer of frost, giving the impression that time itself had frozen in this desolate place. The sound of my own footsteps echoed through the empty halls, and I couldn’t help but wonder if I was truly alone.

I ventured further into the manor, my heart pounding in my chest. Every creak of the floorboards sent shivers down my spine. In a room at the end of a long corridor, I discovered a dusty old journal. Its pages were filled with tales of tragedy and lost love, hinting at the dark secrets hidden within these walls.

The Curse of the Winter Forest

Deeper still into the wintry woods, there lies a forbidden forest where an ancient curse is said to dwell. It is said that those who enter the forest never return, their presence swallowed up by the thick foliage and icy winds. This cursed land is home to a mysterious sorceress, known only as the Winter Witch. Legends tell of her power to control the very essence of winter, freezing the hearts of anyone who crosses her path.

As I journeyed through the forest, the air grew colder and the branches twisted into sinister shapes. The crunch of snow beneath my boots was the only sound in this desolate place. I could feel the Winter Witch’s presence all around me, her icy grip tightening with every step. Shadows danced on the snow-covered ground, taunting me with their otherworldly forms.

Then, I saw her. The Winter Witch stood before me, her pale skin and cold blue eyes sending a chill down my spine. She spoke in a voice as cold as ice, warning me of the consequences of entering her domain. But I was not deterred. With a determination I never knew I possessed, I forged ahead, ready to face whatever lay in store.

The Frozen Lake of Lost Souls

Just beyond the village, there lies a frozen lake said to be the final resting place of lost souls. The ice that covers its surface is said to be eternally cold, trapping the spirits of those who perished in the unforgiving winter. These spectral figures can be seen beneath the ice, reaching out for a chance at redemption.

I ventured out onto the frozen lake, the ice crackling beneath my boots. I could sense the weight of the lost souls surrounding me, their sorrow permeating the air. As I gazed into the icy depths, I caught glimpses of their anguished faces, their eyes pleading for release.

In that moment, I felt a surge of empathy for these trapped souls. I reached out, my hand pressing against the cold surface of the ice. It was as if a connection formed between us, a shared understanding of the pain and longing that comes with being lost in the icy depths of winter.

Winter may be a season of beauty and wonder, but it also holds a darkness that can consume even the bravest of souls. These tales of Frostbitten Manor, the Winter Forest, and the Frozen Lake remind us of the chilling mysteries that lie just below the surface, waiting to be discovered by those brave enough to venture into the cold embrace of winter.

I feel like I’m trapped in a ghost town. When we first settled here, we thought we’d have plenty of resources to sustain us. But boy, were we wrong.

It seems like other survivors have ransacked this place, leaving us with hardly anything. We’re running low on canned food, bullets, and fuel. It’s a real struggle to find the things we need.

We want to move on, but the freezing cold weather has us stuck. So we wait, hoping for better conditions to continue our journey. Each time I feel like giving up, something else comes up, and I find myself fighting to survive.

M02 – Kill Them

I can’t believe it, but it’s undeniable. A whole day has gone by and Mel is still motionless. The bites were deadly, no doubt about it, but what’s baffling is that they didn’t have enough power to revive him. The entire community is filled with hope and excitement. We were starting to notice that the number of lifeless bodies was decreasing. Is it possible that our wildest dreams have come true?

Has the mysterious force that animated these corpses finally disappeared or faded away? If this is true, it changes everything. If we can eliminate the walking dead that wander around the town and our walls, we might finally be able to live in peace for the rest of our days. Finally! I’m not scared to fight until death, but I don’t want to end up becoming the very enemy I’m battling against.

M03 – Discovering a Remedy

Here I sit, overwhelmed by what I’ve just discovered. Could it really be this simple? Has a tiny change in a virus, something so basic and ancient, brought our entire species to the edge of extinction? If there are gods watching us, they must be having a good laugh right now. They must have laughed at all those times when I neglected to wash my hands. But what do we do now? I need a better laboratory and more supplies. I have to gather everyone and ask them to bring me everything they can. At the very least, I believe I can protect us from this virus, and if I’m really lucky, I might be able to completely wipe it out.

I can’t help but think back to that summer when I was young and in love, contemplating the idea of staying in Italy instead of finishing medical school. It’s horrifying to consider that a cheating Italian boyfriend may have played a part in triggering the worst disaster humanity has ever faced!

Welcome Home, M04

I can’t believe how much our hard work has paid off. This place was a refugee camp not long ago, and now it’s a proper town. When people call it the Colony, they say it with pride. That says a lot. But there’s a problem – all our hard work has attracted a swarm of zombies. Every day, more and more of them come to our walls, and they wander around town, waiting to find someone they can eat.

If only we could find a way to kill this swarm of zombies, strengthen our defenses, and hopefully stop attracting more of them. We’ll probably have to deal with a few stragglers for the rest of our lives, but anything is better than the massive horde we’re dealing with now.

M05 – Raiding Party

Winter is creeping up on us, and it’s best that we’re not around when it arrives. The town doesn’t look like it’s been ravaged too much – they must have taken quite a hit. Let’s set up camp here and take shelter to assess the situation. We need to act fast, and not just because of the weather. The undead have caught onto our presence, and their numbers are growing by the day.

If we waste resources and lose people fighting off those monsters, this entire mission will be a failure. Our main objective is to find fuel, but personally, I’m hoping to stumble upon a good stash of medical supplies. I need to get this bite looked at soon, or someone is bound to notice. My body temperature keeps rising, and once the sweat starts pouring, it just won’t stop.

All I need is some antibiotics, or something. I just know it. I won’t end up like those other people; I won’t allow it to happen.

Chapter 06 – Letting Go

It’s now us against them. I really hate that it has come to this, but we, as a species, won’t survive without facing some harsh and uncomfortable truths. There’s a central group of us who make the tough decisions, do the hard work. And then there are those who just come along for the ride, consuming our resources and complaining about their inconveniences.

Forget about them. I say when it’s time to go, we leave behind those annoying fools who believe every decision should be discussed and voted on. We should leave behind the complainers who don’t understand the idea of a merit-based system. Of course they don’t like it – they don’t even contribute anything. But I have made up my mind, and I know the others will agree. We just need to act fast when the chance comes.

M07 – Stockpile

I stood on the watchtower this morning, my heart filled with wonder as I gazed upon the town below. It’s hard to believe the tower is still standing strong, defying the test of time. From my vantage point, I couldn’t help but notice the eerie sight of the undead roaming the streets. Yet, amidst the chaos, there was a strange beauty that captivated me.

As the mist floated from the ground, it painted an ethereal portrait, like wisps of ghostly spirits dancing in the air. Each breath I took filled my lungs with crisp, invigorating freshness. It was as if nature itself whispered secrets only the fortunate could hear.

How can one not be enchanted by the promise of spring rebirth? Winter, with its icy grip and bare trees, may seem bleak, but I find solace in the notion of new beginnings. It’s the chance to start afresh, to watch life unfold once more.

Now, in this season of hibernation and survival, it is crucial to gather our provisions and fortify our defenses. As the snow melts and the world awakens, we too shall thrive. Like the vibrant colors of blossoming flowers, we will rise above our challenges and emerge triumphant.

Winter Has Come – Embrace the Season of Renewal

Well, well, well, just as I predicted, we find ourselves in quite a pickle. It’s not like we weren’t given fair warning, though. Those early morning frosts and the unpredictable weather changes should have raised some red flags.

But alas, here we are in the dead of winter, and all we’ve been focused on is food. Sure, we’ve got generators to keep us going, but without fuel, they’re as useless as a broken pencil. Can you believe it? Yesterday, one of the youngsters had the audacity to offer to drive into town and scavenge for supplies. I had to bite my tongue to keep from giving him a good smack. Drive? Are you kidding me? That requires fuel! I tell ya, walking is the way to go. It may not be glamorous, but at least it keeps you warm. It’s like that story about the Ant and the Grasshopper, except in our case, both the ants and the lazy grasshopper will meet their demise.

M09 – The Struggle To Survive

Do you ever wonder if today is Groundhog’s Day? It’s funny how hunger can make your mind wander to insignificant things like that. You would think that every brain cell would be focused on conserving energy right now. We ran out of canned goods a week ago, and the grains quickly followed suit. The chickens and the last of the venison are long gone. We’re surviving on whatever scraps we can find in town, but they’re not nearly enough. Lately, my thoughts have taken a dark turn, and I can’t help but feel like an evil person. I know I’m not alone in this. There simply isn’t sufficient food to go around, and it’s hard not to feel resentful when you have to share what little you have with people who don’t contribute their fair share.

I have to admit, these thoughts might seem a bit off. I understand that. It’s not fair to blame anyone for the skills they possess. Some people are just born into a world that doesn’t value what they have to offer. Sometimes, it feels like we’re living in a different time altogether. Our ability to think and reason is what sets us apart from other creatures, but when our most basic needs go unmet, it’s hard not to feel and react like animals.

M10 – We Need More Examples

As if things couldn’t get any worse in this colony, the stench is unbearable now! Our storage sheds, which used to be filled with an abundance of food, are now being used to hold dead bodies. I can’t help but long for the taste of a fresh carrot.

You-know-who, our resident authority figure, has once again put on her bossy boots. I never liked doctors even before the world came crashing down, and my opinion hasn’t changed. She believes that studying these dead bodies will somehow provide insights on how to halt the spread of the plague. Yeah right, like we have time for that. I think we’d be better off trying to find the quickest and cheapest way to put an end to all this suffering.

But you know what? Everyone else is super pumped to assist, and maybe that’s the real kicker of this little project. All this “digging around” will do is inform us of what we already know – the deceased shuffle back to life and attempt to chomp on you. Big deal. Nonetheless, if Queen Bee manages to concoct an antidote, yours truly better be at the front of the line to snag it.

Betrayal Stories

S11 – Gluttony Betrayal

Every morning, I stand alone in front of the mirror, gazing at my naked body. I can’t help but notice the thinness in the faces and the pronounced ribs of the others around me. They eat just enough to survive, but there’s an ever-present hunger that permeates through us all. It’s a strange feeling, one that I can’t quite explain, but it excites me in a way. Each night, I indulge in my secret stash of food, savoring the sight of it. Occasionally, I’ll sneak a taste, being careful not to consume too much and reveal my secret. It’s a guilty pleasure, knowing that while others’ stomachs growl with hunger, mine is quietly content.

When I gaze into the mirror, I tenderly embrace my flesh; joyfully caressing those parts of myself that appear plump and prosperous. I admire my love handles and the slight belly I have cultivated. It is such a privilege, and I relish the fact that others lack it. I possess while they lack, and I find this agonizingly exquisite.

S12 – Runaway Betrayal

My dear friends, in case you were not aware, I have gone missing. I deeply apologize for abruptly leaving without a word, but I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me. I wish I could say that there were noble reasons behind my actions, but the truth is, I am simply afraid. This community is barely holding itself together.

So, lately, I’ve been noticing some problems with our setup here, and it honestly freaked me out. You know, I could have spoken up and offered some solutions, but right now, I think I need a little time for myself. Nothing personal, though – don’t get me wrong, I think you all are amazing people. Seriously, I love you all so much!

By the way, I should mention that I had to use bolt cutters to get out, and now I’m a little worried that there might be some zombies making their way in through the eastern fences. Just giving you a heads up.

S13 – The Ultimate Act of Betrayal

Hey there, folks! Give yourselves a pat on the back – we really pulled off something amazing here. A round of applause for the collective effort! We’ve got ourselves the perfect setup now, ready to face the zombie apocalypse head-on. Solid defenses, bountiful food supply – everything my crew and I need for a comfy stay. But hey, it’s time to wrap things up. Don’t worry, you don’t have to leave right away, but you can’t hang around here forever.

Now, don’t give me those sad faces. You’ve all done an outstanding job, and I have no doubt you can do it all over again. Or maybe not. Who knows? It’s all good for me anyway. But here’s the deal: we need everyone to line up so we can give you a thorough search before we let you through the gates. Hold your horses, though. We’re not monsters here. You can keep your clothes.

S14 – All for One Betrayal

You guys never stood a chance. The only reason any of you are still breathing is because of luck or because someone smarter and stronger like me came along to save your sorry butts. I’ve had to hold back laughter every time I heard you fools talking about setting up barricades or going out to scavenge for supplies. What a waste of time! This place is doomed, and it’s just a matter of when. So, I’ve gathered up some supplies, and now it’s time to get the heck out of here. What? Oh, come on. I knew someone would say that. Yeah, taking this stuff might speed up the collapse of the colony, but honestly, it was doomed from the start. So why should I feel guilty about it?

It’s not my fault, and I didn’t cause this. I’m pretty sure any of you would have done the same thing by now if you guys were smart enough to think about it. Now, back away from the truck before I demonstrate how dangerous I am with it. I can’t stand by and let you benefit from my hard work anymore.

S15 – Accept Your Fate Betrayal

Finally, you all realize the fate that has befallen our species. I tried to warn you that it was a lost cause, but I suppose you preferred to waste the remainder of your lives on backbreaking labor. The colony was nothing more than a childish fantasy. Deep down, you must have known it couldn’t survive in the face of complete annihilation. The deceased will continue to rise, and those of us who are still alive on this planet will only add to their numbers.

Why bother? There’s no point in running away from death. It’s better to face it head-on, embracing our fate with dignity and acceptance. As for me, I choose to stay here, lying still, patiently waiting for death’s arrival. Any attempt to escape or resist would only lead to a futile and embarrassing struggle.

The Essence of Betrayal

Hey there, listen up! I know some of you may be hiding, but guess what? I’ve taken down most of you already, and the rest can’t escape my watchful eye. Now, let me clarify something: I haven’t finished you off with a simple headshot. Nope, your friends and family will soon be on the move again, right into the clutches of this deadly colony. It’s a tough choice – become a zombie or face me, the choice is yours. But here’s the thing: you only have yourselves to blame. If only you had taken a moment to acknowledge my presence, to appreciate my hard work. Did none of you notice all the ways I contributed to our community? Maybe if you had, you would have realized that I was amassing all these weapons. But instead, you all scattered like panicked chickens, bouncing from one crisis to another.

Hey there, fellow adventurers! Can you believe what those self-appointed colony leaders are up to? They act like they’re the stars of the show and forget about the rest of us. But guess what? This story isn’t just about them. It’s about me, and I’m ready for some payback. So here it is, one more time: It’s time to reveal yourself and face the consequences.

An Unexpected Betrayal

A whole new era is upon us! In ancient times, God’s angels descended to bring justice to the people. But as the years went by, the people lost their faith and dismissed the existence of their divine protector. They convinced themselves that he was nothing more than a myth, allowing themselves to indulge in worldly pleasures and wrongdoing. But let me tell you something: Time means nothing to God. Even after a thousand, or ten thousand years, He still reigns supreme.

Hey there! Let me tell you a story. The Shepherd, who watches over his flock like a good caretaker, noticed that his sheep were sick with corruption. To protect the healthy ones, he had to get rid of the diseased. Now, I want to make it clear to you, my disciples, that the walking dead you see around are actually the damned. They go after those who haven’t repented. Our Lord doesn’t want to harm his children, but he won’t allow the poisoning of our souls any longer.

So, we embrace the ravenous dead because they are the punishment for an unjust world. Our Lord found them lacking, and now they roam the earth seeking justice.

S18 – Serial Killers Betrayal

Let me share something personal with you. Before the outbreak, I used to live in fear of getting caught. Now, let me tell you, I’m not a sadist. I don’t enjoy seeing people suffer or anything sick like that. It’s just that I find it fascinating, you know?

I reckon I’m sorta like a scientist. I just really need to observe folks in those precious final moments. See how they physically and emotionally react to pain. Witness their realization that they’re gonna meet their demise. I reckon God understood what I needed when He made the world come to an end.

There’s suffering all ’round me now: the ache of hard work, the hunger pains, and, of course, the violence caused by the undead. And now so many people in the colony have perished that I don’t reckon I have to just watch anymore – there ain’t enough of ’em to stop us, and we’ve got the element of surprise on our side. And surprise sure does make for especially fascinating observations. Everyone here is gonna expire on my watch, in the manner I choose. I’m mighty thrilled – there’s gonna be so much to see and learn.

S19 – Mad Scientist Betrayal

You know what’s fascinating? The undead. Yeah, I’m talking about zombies. They have this bizarre ability to endure almost any kind of injury, except for a blow to the brain, but that doesn’t stop them from trying to move around, no matter how severely damaged their bodies might be. The only downsides are that they can’t be controlled and, well, they’re not known for their brains. However, things have changed now. Let me introduce you to a couple of our fallen comrades.

Before my experiments, these poor souls would have been condemned to a mindless existence, slowly decomposing and feeding on human flesh. But thanks to my modified version of the infamous zombie virus, it reduces brain damage by 35% during the incubation period.

Hey there! Listen up because I’ve got quite the story to tell. Our pals over here are going through the usual process of cellular decay that happens to all living beings. But don’t be fooled, their brains are still ticking, even if they’re slobbering mindlessly. They can still follow basic instructions and, believe it or not, they’re not feeling an ounce of fear. So put down those weapons, my dear fools, because it’s too late. You see, I hid my gZ3 compound in the drinking water yesterday morning. And guess what? Ever since then, the performance of this colony has been plummeting. Oh, and have you noticed that my words have become harder to understand the longer I talk?

Well, it’s time to face the music, folks. This adventure of yours has come to an end, and all of you now belong to me. Yep, you heard me right.

Get ready for S20 – Obsessed Betrayal

Now it’s just you and me, kid. From the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew our paths were destined to cross. It was like a lightning bolt of realization struck me, almost as if it had religious significance. But hey, don’t you see? You were made for me.

I can’t help but marvel at how perfectly you were designed for me. Every aspect of your being, from your personality to your beautiful face, seems tailor-made for my happiness. It’s both amazing and frustrating to witness your love being directed towards everyone else except me. I can’t deny that it hurts, even though you might think I’m oblivious to it.

I can’t help but wonder why you choose to deny your purpose in this world. Does it bring you some twisted pleasure to withhold your love from me? Is it a form of cruelty? Or perhaps, and this is what I hope, it’s all part of some elaborate test. Either way, here we are, just you and me.

There’s nowhere left for you to run, my love. Those others you so shamelessly flirted with and planned rendezvous with? They are either gone or dead.
