If a ship happens to run into a debris field, it will cause damage to the ship’s hull. The ship will take 2 points of damage on any part of its hull that comes into contact with the debris field. However, the same does not apply to squadrons.

If your ship bumps into this obstacle, you can get rid of one of your damaged cards, whether it’s faceup or facedown. If your squadron runs into this obstacle, it can recover one hull point.
You can move your ships and squadrons through obstacles without any problems. What matters is where they end up.
Building Your Fleet
When playing Star Wars: Armada, you get to pick the ships, squadrons, and upgrades you want to use.
Every ship, squadron, and upgrade card has a number in the bottom-right corner. This number tells you how many fleet points the ship or upgrade costs, or how many points each squadron of that type costs.
Before we start playing a game, we both need to create our own fleet. To do this, we can choose different ship cards, squadron cards, and upgrade cards. The total cost of all the cards we choose cannot be more than 300 fleet points.
We build our fleets without knowing what the other person has chosen. When it’s time to set up the game, we reveal our cards and see what ships and squadrons we have in our fleet.
Special Names
In this game, we can play with famous characters and ships from the Star Wars universe. Each character or ship has a unique name, marked by a bullet symbol () next to it. We can’t have two or more cards with the same name in our fleet.
Squadron Cards
When you play the game, each type of squadron is represented by a single card. The number of points on the card tells you how much it costs to have one squadron of that type. If you want to have more squadrons of that type, you have to pay the points for each one separately.
Some squadron cards have names that are unique, which means they belong to famous Star Wars pilots. These pilots lead special squadrons that have extra abilities and defense tokens. Unique squadrons have their own cards instead of using the shared card for that type.
You can only have one copy of each unique squadron in your fleet. The unique squadrons have a different picture on the back of their disk, which matches the art on their card.
If you’re just using the core set to build your fleet, remember that you can only have one of each unique squadron.
When you play Star Wars: Armada, you and your opponent each create your own fleet using the ships and components you have. If you both only have one core set, you can decide to share the components, but there are limits to what you can do. One player will get all the Rebel cards, and the other will get all the Imperial cards. Any remaining upgrade cards will be shuffled and dealt out randomly to each player.

When you’re in the midst of an attack, there’s a special kind of move you can make called a critical effect. It’s a powerful move that lets you do something special before the damage is calculated. The only catch is, you need to have at least one E icon in your attack pool. And you can only use a critical effect once per attack. It’s like a secret weapon that you can unleash when the timing is right.
Upgrade cards can have important effects that are indicated by the header. In some cases, these effects also come with a color requirement. To resolve a critical effect with a color requirement, you need to have the E icon on a die of that color.
Hey there, let’s talk about a cool thing called the standard critical effect. It’s something that happens when I make an attack. If I manage to hit my target and deal at least one damage card to them, the first damage card is dealt faceup. Pretty cool, right?
Now, when it comes to squadrons, they can’t have any critical effects unless it’s specifically mentioned. That means no resolving or suffering critical effects for them.
ID Tokens
