Now, it’s time to start planning your journey. Pack your bags, put on your hiking boots, and get ready to create lasting memories in the captivating realm of Snowdonia. Trust me, this is one adventure you won’t want to miss!

When I draw Event cubes from the Supply Bag, I put them on the Events Track, one cube per space, starting right after the last occupied space. As I place each Event cube, I resolve the Event right away before placing any more Event cubes.

Let me describe the Events to you. I resolve each Event before moving on to the next one. If the Events in 4, 7 or 10 occur, I need to put 3 Event cubes back in the bag as I explain below.

The Events happen regardless of the weather.

I immediately excavate a number of rubble spaces

When you’re excavating in the game, the first thing you need to do is clear away any Rubble cubes. Start with the card that’s closest to the beginning of the route and remove cubes from a number of Track cards or Building spaces. The number of cubes you remove should match the current Excavation Work Rate.

If you come across a Station card during your excavation, things work a little differently. First, you’ll take Rubble cubes from the left-hand space. If there are any cubes left in the right-hand space, you’ll also remove those. Once you’re finished, you can continue up the mountain. Just remember, no player gets Rubble or scores points for excavations done on Station cards.

Time to Lay Track

When it’s time to lay track in the game, I need to turn over a number of Track cards, based on the current Lay Track Work Rate. I start with the Track card that’s closest to the start of the route. If there’s any rubble on the Track cards, I have to remove it and put it back in the general supply.

I don’t have to worry about Station cards during this part of the game.

It’s important to note that I don’t score any points for the track laying I do during this step.

Building a Station right away

Hey there! Let’s get this game started. Place one of the Game markers on the first Station along the route that still has some Building sites left to complete.

Get rid of any Rubble on the Station card and put it back in the general supply. From now on, you won’t be able to dig or build anything on this Station card for the rest of the game.

Don’t worry though, you can still use the Ownership markers on the Station card to score bonus points at the end of the game.

Now You Can Purchase Trains

Before this event takes place, no player has the ability to buy trains. However, once it occurs, you will be able to use the Build action to acquire a Train card.

Make Sure to Keep Your Trains in Good Condition

It’s important to remember that owning trains also comes with some responsibilities. Just like any other machine, trains require maintenance to keep them running smoothly.

When you have a Train card and it’s your turn, you have to pay one Steel Bar from the general supply. If you don’t have a Steel Bar or you don’t want to pay, you have to return the Train card to the Engine Shed.

If you return a Train card, you can put more Coal from the Supply Bag on it, according to what the card says. If there isn’t enough Coal, you have to restock the trains in order, starting with the lowest one.

If you have any Coal cubes, they won’t be affected.

When you come across a numbered Event space, make sure to resolve the event written on it. After that, return the specified Event cubes back to the Supply Bag. The next step is to place the drawn Event cubes into spaces located after the right-most occupied space on the Event Track.

So, when you reach the 10 space, the 7 space will always be the one occupied on the far right. From there, the events will cycle through 8, 9, and 10 until the game comes to an end.
