Let’s Get Things Done
Hi there! Today, I want to talk about performing actions. It’s pretty amazing how we can make things happen just by taking some simple steps. So, let’s dive in and explore this exciting topic!
The Power of Action
Have you ever stopped and wondered how things get done? Well, it’s all thanks to action! When we take action, we make things happen. It’s like waving a magic wand and seeing our desires become reality.
Now, you might be thinking, “But how do I take action?” Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Let’s take a look at some simple steps you can follow to perform actions like a pro!
Step 1: Set Clear Goals
The first step to performing actions is setting clear goals. What do you want to achieve? Write it down, visualize it, and get clear on what you’re working towards. When you have a clear goal in mind, taking action becomes a whole lot easier.
Step 2: Make a Plan
Once you have your goal, it’s time to make a plan. Break your goal down into smaller, manageable steps. Think of it like a road map guiding you towards your destination. With a plan in place, you’ll know exactly what actions you need to take.
Step 3: Take the First Step
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. It’s time to take that first step towards your goal. Remember, the most important part is to start. Don’t wait for the perfect moment or the right conditions. Just take that first step and keep moving forward.
Step 4: Stay Motivated
As you continue on your journey, it’s important to stay motivated. You might face obstacles along the way, but remember why you started in the first place. Keep your goal in mind, celebrate your progress, and surround yourself with positive energy.
Step 5: Reflect and Adjust
Every now and then, it’s helpful to pause and reflect on your actions. Are they taking you closer to your goal? Do you need to adjust your plan? By taking the time to evaluate and make necessary adjustments, you’ll stay on track and continue moving towards success.
The Magic of Action
So, there you have it – the power of action. With clear goals, a solid plan, and a willingness to take that first step, you can make amazing things happen. Remember, it’s all about starting and staying motivated. So go ahead, take action, and watch as your dreams become reality!
When you pay the cost shown on the card (2, 3, or 4 GP minus any cost changes from Temples), you can choose the matching Creature card and activate the specified effect.
Once you use the power, the card goes face-up in the discard pile.
You have to use the powers of the Creatures right away. You can’t hold onto a Creature you just purchased to use later. The powers of each Creature and how to use the 5 Creature figurines are explained in the 4-page reference booklet that comes with the game.
So here’s the thing: new Creature cards only show up on the board when a new cycle starts. This means that the very first person to make an offering to the God gets first dibs on help. And guess what? There’s no rule saying they can’t play multiple Creatures. So it’s totally possible that by the time it’s your turn, all the Creatures are already spoken for.
B. Recruit
Now let’s talk about the main Gods and what they can do for you. Depending on their specialty, you can recruit a Troop, a Fleet, a Priest, or a Philosopher for free. But if you want more, you’ll need to fork over some gold pieces (GP).
Poseidon’s Gift: Recruitment Fleets
Hey there! I’ve got some exciting news for you. Poseidon, the mighty sea god, has a special gift just for you – a brand new fleet! And the best part? It’s absolutely free!
But wait, there’s more! If you find yourself needing even more fleets, don’t worry. You can purchase additional fleets to bolster your naval power. Here’s how it works:
- Want a second fleet? It’ll cost you just 1 GP.
- In need of a third fleet? That’ll be 2 GP.
- Feel like expanding even further with a fourth fleet? It’s yours for 3 GP.
Now, hold your sea horses! There are a couple of rules you’ll need to keep in mind. Firstly, you can’t buy more than 3 extra fleets in a single turn. So plan your fleet expansions wisely!
Secondly, while Poseidon is generous, he does have his limits. No player can have more than a grand total of 8 fleets. Seems fair, doesn’t it? These fleets must be built on sea spaces surrounding an island that you control. The space you choose must either be empty or already have fleets that belong to you.
Ares: Recruit Troops
Hey there! If you’re looking to boost your army, Ares has got you covered. He’s offering a free Troop, and if you want more, you can purchase them too. Here’s how it works:
- For your second Troop, it’ll cost you 2 GP.
- The third Troop will set you back 3 GP.
- And if you’re feeling ambitious and want a fourth Troop, it’ll cost you 4 GP.
Keep in mind that you can only purchase up to 3 extra Troops in a single turn. And here’s another rule to remember: no player can have more than 8 Troops. Don’t forget to place your Troops on isles that you control!
Zap! (Get your Own Priests)
Hey there! Zeus has a special deal for you – a free Priest when you join the team. And guess what? You can even get an extra Priest for just 4 GP!
Now here’s something important: make sure you place your Priests right up front where everyone can see them.
The Power of Priests
Check this out: every Priest you have reduces the amount of GP you need to pay for your offering by 1 at the start of each cycle. Pretty cool, right?
But hold up, there’s a catch. No matter how many Priests you’ve got, you still gotta pay at least 1 GP for your offering (except when you’re accessing Apollo – that’s totally free!).
Athena (Hire Philosophers)
Hey there! Did you know that Athena is offering a free philosopher? Pretty cool, huh?
But wait, there’s more! If you want, you can recruit an extra philosopher for just 4 GP.
Now, here’s the thing. These philosophers need to be placed right in front of your screen, where everyone can see them.
The Power of Philosophers
Now, here’s the really interesting part. As soon as you manage to gather 4 philosophers, you have to discard them and create a Metropolis. Quite an impressive move, don’t you think?
C. Build
Alright, listen up. Each God in the game is associated with a specific type of building, and each building has a unique effect. The thing is, during your turn, you can build multiple copies of the same building, even on the same isle, as long as you can afford the cost of 2 GP.
Here’s the kicker. Once you own 4 different buildings, no matter where they are, boom! You automatically create a Metropolis! Talk about a game-changer!
Poseidon (Port)
When I stumbled upon the majestic isle of Poseidon, I discovered a hidden treasure that is sure to leave you astonished. Let me tell you about the incredible effect that the Port possesses, and why it will elevate your seafaring battles to unprecedented heights.
The Port, my friend, is unique in its ability to provide a powerful defensive bonus in battles that occur on squares adjacent to this magnificent isle. Imagine the advantage you would gain, the edge you would have in the treacherous waters. With Poseidon’s Port by your side, you can stand strong and repel any enemy that dares to challenge you.
But let’s dive deeper into this marvelous power. The Port, my dear reader, is like a double-edged sword. While it offers protection, it also regenerates your response, allowing you to strike back with renewed force and determination. Picture the awe on your opponents’ faces as they witness your resilience and swift counterattacks. They won’t know what hit them!
Now, I understand that you may be wondering why this information is important to you. Well, my curious friend, the answer is simple. If you seek victory on the high seas, if you yearn for glory and triumph, then you must choose the right isle. And Poseidon’s Port is undoubtedly the ultimate choice for all seafaring adventurers like you.
When you embark on your journey, my fellow explorer, remember that choosing the right isle can make or break your destiny. The Port, with its defense bonus and regenerative powers, will be your trusted companion throughout your battles. It will aid you in conquering the waves and emerging victorious on the other side.
So, my friend, if you’re ready to conquer the seas and unleash your inner warrior, then Poseidon’s Port is the isle for you. And mark my words, once you experience the might of this divine power, there’s no turning back. Don’t hesitate any longer, embrace Poseidon’s Port and let the tides of victory carry you to new heights!
The Ares Fortress: Honing in on Defense
There’s a structure on the island that can truly make a difference in battles, and it’s called the Ares Fortress. This mighty construction stands tall and serves a crucial purpose – boosting the defensive strength of the troops situated on the isle. I mean, who doesn’t want an extra layer of protection, right?

Zeus (Temple)
Hey there! Let’s talk about the amazing Zeus Temple and its effect on the game. When you have a Zeus Temple, it reduces the cost of buying a Mythological Creature by 1 GP. How cool is that? But wait, there’s a catch. The price reduction of each Temple can only be used once per cycle. So, no matter how many Temples you own, you still need to spend at least 1 GP to get a Creature. It’s like getting a discount on your favorite thing, but you can only use it once. Sounds exciting, right?
Welcome to Athena (University)
Guess what? The University doesn’t do anything fancy. It’s just one of the four buildings that you’ll need to create a Metropolis.
D. Special Moves
Good news! Some Gods grant you special moves. And the best part is, you can perform these moves multiple times during your turn. The only catch is you’ll need enough GP to pay for them.
Command the Seas with Poseidon
Hey there! How would you like to unleash the power of Poseidon and move your fleets across the vast oceans? Well, now you can with just 1 GP!
With Poseidon, you have the ability to take your fleets currently on the same sea space and move them up to 3 spaces. That’s right, you can navigate the waters like never before! And here’s the best part – you can also add or abandon fleets during your movement. Flexibility at its finest!
But wait, there’s more. If, during your mighty movement, you happen to encounter enemy fleets in a space, brace yourself for a naval battle! The moment your fleets enter an occupied space, the battle commences. It’s an adrenalin-pumping showdown on the high seas!
So, if you want to seize control of the oceans and lead your fleets to victory, look no further than Poseidon. He’s got the power to make your naval dreams a reality. And remember, with Poseidon, there’s no limit to what you can achieve!

Move Troops with Ares
Hey there! So, for just 1 GP, you have the power to move your Troops on one isle to another isle that’s connected by a chain of Fleets of your color.
- If you land on an isle where the enemy has Troops, get ready for battle!
- If you land on an isle where there are no Troops, you actually get to claim that isle without even having to fight. (Pretty cool, right?) Oh, and it doesn’t matter if the isle has a Fortress!
- Now here’s an important rule: when you move your Troops from their starting isle and leave it empty, be sure to leave a territory marker there. That way, the isle belongs to you unless someone else lands there. And once you own an isle, it can never become neutral again!
Oh, one more thing! You can’t just attack the last isle of another player, unless you can prove that conquering that isle would make you the winner of the game. That’s a pretty big deal!
Switch Things Up with Zeus
For just 1 GP, you can swap out a Creature card and substitute it with the top card from the draw pile.
This move is perfect for getting rid of a pesky Creature on the cheap or hunting down a specific Creature you’re after.

Increase Your Revenue with Apollo
Finally, if you decide to play as Apollo, you’ll have a unique role in the game. As Apollo, you’ll go last and have limited options for your actions. It might seem like skipping your turn, but it’s a smart move to save money.
As the mighty Apollo, you’ll enjoy the following benefits:
- If you own more than one island, you’ll receive 1 GP.
- If you own a single island, you’ll receive 4 GP.
Any GP that you earn will be placed safely behind your screen.
But that’s not all. When you choose Apollo, you’ll also receive a prosperity marker. This special marker can be placed on any of your islands. With Apollo’s blessing, that particular island will earn an extra 1 GP at the start of each cycle. Imagine the fortune you’ll accumulate!
Don’t worry if multiple players choose Apollo in the same round. Everyone will earn the extra GP, but only the first player to select Apollo will receive a prosperity marker. So, strategize and be swift!
