When the timer starts, it’s go time! Your task is to rapidly come up with words that start with the given letters. For each word you come up with, make sure it starts with one of the letters and that the word is valid. It’s wonderful if the word is not only valid but impressive as well!

Remember, you can’t repeat words and you can’t use proper nouns or names. However, plurals and verb forms are fair game! So, let your imagination run wild!

Scoring

Object of the Game

The goal is to collect the most cards!

Setup

• If you’re playing with 2 players: take out one complete set of color cards from the deck and remove one additional card from any other color set (you should now have 44 cards to play with). If you’re playing with 3 to 6 players: use the complete deck.
• Mix up the cards and give each player an even stack, face-down.
• Before we start playing, let’s go over some sounds that represent the different cards.

1. First, I will be the Recorder. Then, each of us will take turns being the Recorder.
2. As the Recorder, I will choose two sounds, like “Hy-yah” and “Splat!”, and record them using the Sound Smacker. To record a sound, I just need to press and hold the red button on the side.
   1. It’s okay to repeat the same sound twice. For example, I can say “Hy-yah, Hy-yah!”
   2. However, the “Your Choice” card can only represent one sound for each round. If I decide to say “Moo” as my “Your Choice” sound, then the card will represent a Moo for that round.
3. Once I have recorded the sounds, I will place the Sound Smacker within everyone’s reach and press the play button so that we can all hear the two recorded sounds.
4. We will start playing with me as the Recorder, and then continue clockwise. Each player will flip over the top card from their face-down pile and place it face-up in front of their pile.

When you flip a card, make sure to flip it towards the other players. This way, nobody can see the image on the card before it’s flipped!

Important!

1. You don’t have to place the cards in the same order as the recorded sounds.
2. Make sure the two cards are facing up in separate piles.

The Game Ends

Count the cards to determine the winner!

Variations of the Game

Name Play: The Recorder records a sound and the name of a player. When the corresponding card appears in front of that player, everyone rushes to hit the Sound Smacker and win the round.

Yackety Smack Extreme: If there are 5 or more players, record three sounds instead of two. This means three cards must be visible before a player can hit the Sound Smacker.
