Setup

1. First, each player (or team) receives the following items:
   • 1 Wits Answer Card
   • 2 Wager Chips in the same color as their Wits Answer Card
   • 1 Dry Erase Pen
2. Next, one person volunteers to be the Banker. The Banker will handle the money during the game and also participate as a regular player.
3. First, I want you to pick someone in your group to be the Question Reader. This person will be in charge of reading the questions out loud. Make sure they have 7 Question Cards. It’s important to note that the Question Reader also participates in the game, so they should avoid looking at the answers on the back of the cards.

Let’s Play the Game

Step 1: Ask Me Anything

The Question: I’m the one in charge here, and I’m going to pick up the very first Question Card. It’s labeled as Question #1, and I’m going to read it out loud to you.

Answering the Question: So here’s the deal: I’m going to flip this 30-second Sand Timer, and you’ve got exactly half a minute to jot down your best guess on your Answer Card. The challenge? You want to get as close as possible to the correct answer without going over.

Now, let’s move on to Step 2: Sorting the Guesses. Once the sand timer runs out, it’s time to place the answer cards face up on the Betting Mat. Here’s what you do next:

1. Arrange the guesses in increasing order, starting from the smallest guess and ending with the largest guess. The arrows on the Betting Mat will guide you in this process.

2. If multiple players wrote the same guess, place all of those guesses in the same payout slot.

3. Now, let’s talk about what to do with odd and even numbers of unique guesses:

– If there are an odd number of unique guesses, the middle guess goes in the “Pays 2 to 1” payout slot.

– If there are an even number of unique guesses, follow the instructions provided.

And that’s how you sort the guesses! It’s all about following these steps and making sure everything is organized correctly on the Betting Mat.

The slot that says “Pays 2 to 1” is still open for you to fill in. The two middle slots are designated as “Pays 3 to 1”.

Step 3: Place your bets

When all the guesses have been sorted, the Question Reader flips the 30-second Sand Timer. You have 30 seconds to place your two cardboard Betting Chips. The goal is to bet on the guess that is closest to the correct answer, but not exceeding it.

Here are your betting options:

• You can bet both of your Betting Chips on the same payout slot.
• You can split your Betting Chips between any two payout slots.
• Remember, you don’t have to bet on your own guess.
• You can only bet on a payout slot that already has a guess in it, unless it’s the “All Guesses Too High” slot.

Moving Your Bets: When the 30-second betting period begins, you have the freedom to move your bets around. Just keep in mind that you can’t place or change a bet once the Sand Timer has finished.

Questions 2 – 7: If you make the right guess, you’ll earn Poker Chips as rewards. You can use these chips to place more bets, and here are the rules to follow:

• Always put your Poker Chips underneath a cardboard Betting Chip. This helps the Banker keep track of who made each bet.
• You can place as many Poker Chips as you want under each Betting Chip. There’s no limit to how much you can bet.

• If you bet your Poker Chips on the wrong guess, you’ll lose them. However, the Betting Chips will always be returned to you, even if you made the wrong bet!

• If Cardboard Chips are wagered on the wrong guess, they are lost and returned to the bank. The Wager Chips, however, are returned to the player (or team) and can be used in the next round.
