Objective
The objective of Wig Out! is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. Sounds easy, right? Well, there’s a twist! You have to be quick and pay close attention to match the wigs on the cards. It’s all about speed and focus.
Gameplay
Here’s how to play Wig Out!:
- Shuffle the deck of cards and deal 7 cards to each player.
- Place the remaining cards face-down in the center of the playing area. This will be the draw pile.
- Flip the top card from the draw pile and place it face-up next to the draw pile. This card will start the discard pile.
- The youngest player goes first.
- On your turn, you must play either a wig that matches the color of the top card on the discard pile or a wild wig card. If you don’t have a matching card, you must draw a card from the draw pile.
- If you play a matching card, you can play another card immediately as long as it matches the color of the new top card on the discard pile.
- Keep playing cards until you either run out of matching cards or choose to stop. Then, it’s the next player’s turn.
- If you ever run out of cards in your hand, draw 7 more cards from the draw pile.
- The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game!
Special Wigs
Wig Out! has a few special wig cards that add extra excitement to the game:
- Wild Wigs: These cards can be played at any time and can be used as a match for any color.
- Wig Outs: These cards are multi-colored and can be played on any color, but they stop the player after you from playing additional cards unless they have a wild wig card to play.

Hey there! Let’s have some fun playing a game called “Wig Out!” The goal is to get rid of all the cards in your hand and be the first player to yell, “Wig Out!” And guess what? The player with the lowest score wins. How cool is that?
Let’s Get Set Up
First, grab a piece of paper and a pencil to keep track of the scores. Next, we need to choose a player to be the dealer. The dealer is the one who shuffles the deck and deals the cards. Exciting stuff, right?
Now, the dealer will start by shuffling the deck and giving out the cards face down to each player. Here’s how many cards each player gets:
- If there are 2-4 players, you each get 7 cards.
- If there are 5-6 players, you each get 5 cards.
After getting your cards, take a peek and organize them. Now, let’s put the rest of the cards aside by stacking them face down in the middle of the playing area. Then, we’ll turn over the top two cards and place them face-up on opposite sides of the deck. If those two cards have the same image, we’ll stack one on top of the other. Things are starting to heat up!
Time to Play
Wig Out is an exciting race that lasts for five rounds. We don’t take turns during the rounds. Instead, we all draw and play cards at the same time, as quickly as we can. The goal is to be the first person to play all of our cards and shout, “Wig Out!”
Before we start, the dealer says, “GO!” This is when the fun begins. Each of us can choose to do one of three things:
- Now let me show you how to start a new pile in this card game. The first step is to play two or more cards from your hand that have the same design or number. Place these cards face-up in the middle of the playing area. This will create a new pile, and you can continue playing the game from there.
When you’re playing this game, you only need to do one simple thing. Take a card from your hand and put it down on top of any pile that it matches. Easy, right? But, there’s a twist. You have to make sure you lay down the card face-up so everyone can see it.
If you can’t play cards, you can draw cards from the center deck until you have a match. Keep adding these cards to your hand.
End of the Round
When you run out of cards, shout “Wig Out!” That’s when the round stops. Any remaining cards in players’ hands count towards their score. Don’t forget to write down your score!
The person on the left of the last dealer gathers, shuffles, and deals the cards for the next round.
End of the Game
After the fifth round, everyone adds up their scores. The player with the lowest score is the winner. (If you want a longer game, you can play more rounds before deciding the winner).
Note: If all players end up with one unmatched card, it’s a tie. No one gets any points, and a new round starts with all the collected cards.
