Welcome to the Village Game Rules!
Hey there! It’s time to dive into the exciting world of the Village Game. Today, I’ll walk you through some essential rules to ensure you have the most epic gaming experience possible. So, let’s get started!
Objective
First things first, let’s talk about the goal of the game. In the Village Game, your main objective is to build and manage your very own village. You’ll have the chance to make crucial decisions that will shape its destiny. Are you ready to embark on this thrilling adventure? Great!
Choosing Your Path
Now, it’s time to choose the path you want to follow. The Village Game offers different strategy options, allowing you to tailor your village to your liking. Whether you prefer a bustling trading hub or a peaceful agricultural haven, the choice is entirely up to you.
Resources and Challenges
As you progress in the game, you’ll encounter various challenges and opportunities. These could include limited resources, weather changes, or even unexpected events. It’s crucial to stay adaptable and make wise choices to overcome these obstacles and ensure your village thrives.
Building Structures
One of the key elements in the Village Game is constructing different structures. You’ll have the chance to build houses, markets, farms, and other essential buildings to foster growth and happiness among your villagers. Remember, their well-being is your top priority!
Exploring New Areas
Exploration is a fundamental aspect of the game. By venturing into uncharted territory, you’ll unlock new opportunities and discover valuable resources. However, be cautious and plan your expeditions wisely. You never know what mysteries and challenges lie ahead!
Trade and Interaction
A thriving village requires trade and interaction with neighboring communities. Establishing alliances, engaging in commerce, and sharing knowledge will not only benefit your own village but also foster a harmonious relationship with others.
The Circle of Life
Lastly, in the Village Game, you’ll witness the circle of life firsthand. Villagers will be born, grow, work, and eventually pass on. Cherish these meaningful moments and ensure the continuity of your village by preparing the younger generation to carry on the legacy.
Well, that wraps it up for our journey into the Village Game Rules. Now that you have a solid understanding of the basics, it’s time to put your skills to the test and embark on an unforgettable gaming experience. Best of luck, and may your village prosper and thrive!
When you set up the game, you’ll want to place the game board right in the center of the table. That’s the one that has the village and all its different areas on it.
A) I chose grain harvest.
B) My family
C) My crafts
D) The market
E) My travel
F) The council chamber
G) The church
H) The well
I) The village chronicle
J) The anonymous graves
I chose the color red. I take my red farmyard and place it in front of me. This is where my family members live. I can also store my influence cubes and goods here. However, my farmyard can only hold up to 5 bags of grain. On the edge of my farmyard, there is a track that shows the lifetime of my family.
Next, I take my 11 family members and 8 markers in red. I put 4 family members with a “1” on my farmyard. They are the first generation of my family. The rest of the family members are for future generations, so I set them aside for now in a general supply.
First, let’s place one of your markers on the cloud located on the right side of the bridge in your farmyard. Then, place another marker on the book, which is in the top left corner of the game board.
Each player will receive 1 coin, which should be placed next to their own farmyard. The remaining coins will be placed in a general supply next to the game board.
Now, take the customer tiles and shuffle them, placing them face down next to the market to create a pile. Depending on the number of players, you will turn a certain number of tiles face up and add them to the market:
- If there are four players, place a tile on each of the 10 spaces.
- If there are three players, leave the space labeled “4” empty.
- If there are two players, leave the spaces labeled “3” and “4” empty. Here’s an example for a 3-player game:
If you play with less than 4 players, you can have family members of a color that nobody else is using. This way, there will be fewer spots available in the chronicle and the anonymous graves.
In a game with 3 players, I need to place one of my unused family members on each space and grave labeled as “4”. If it’s just 2 players, I’ll put a family member on each space and grave labeled as “3” or “4”. Once that’s done, I’ll put the starting player marker on its designated space in the council chamber. The goods tiles like horses, oxen, wagons, plows, and scrolls will be placed next to the game board as a general supply. The bags of grain, influence cubes, and plague cubes will also be placed next to the game board as a general supply. I must not forget to have the green bag nearby. Lastly, I’ll take the 4 black monks and put them in the black bag, which should be placed below the church.
Here’s what you need to do:
First, grab the setup card that matches the number of players and keep it close by. Put the other two setup cards back in the box. Oh, and don’t forget to put the “mass” overview card next to the game board. Lastly, the oldest player gets to be the starting player and gets the starting player marker.
The Goal of the Game
The main objective is to earn the most prestige points. The game ends when either the village chronicle or the anonymous graves are completely filled. When that happens, you’ll get even more points for the different areas of the village.
Let’s Play the Game!
Hey there! Are you ready to dive into the wonderful world of this game? Well, get ready to take control of your family’s destiny as we embark on an exciting journey through the village. Strap in, because it’s going to be quite a ride!
Okay, here’s the deal: the game is divided into several rounds, and in each round, you’ll have the power to shape the future of your family members. How, you ask? Well, by strategically placing them in different locations within the village, of course!
Now, your family members can be placed in various spots. If you put them on the farmyard, they’ll ensure a bountiful harvest. Placing them in the church, on the other hand, will earn you some prestigious points. And for those who are feeling a bit ambitious, the council chamber is the place to be. Why? Because, my friend, it’ll give you both prestige points and some handy privileges.
But that’s not all! If you’re feeling adventurous, you also have the option to send your family members on a journey. Depending on where they go, they might come back with some prestige, influence, or even some cold hard cash. Talk about an exciting trip, right?
Now, here’s where things get really interesting. See, the craft buildings in the village enable the production of goods. And guess what? These goods, along with grains, can be exchanged at the market for some valuable prestige points. Cha-ching!
The village is teeming with possibilities, my friend. There are so many different areas to explore, each offering unique options. And each area has its own action space where you can gain different types of influence cubes and trigger special actions.
But here’s the catch: you have to choose wisely. The influence type and specific action in each area rarely match. So, you’ll need to think strategically and make some tough decisions. Can you handle the challenge?
So, what are you waiting for? Prepare to embark on an epic adventure, where the fate of your family lies in your hands. Get ready to make your mark on the village as you navigate through the twists and turns of this thrilling game. Good luck!
When it comes to the actions in the game, it’s important to remember that they take time. Just like in real life, as time goes on, the older family members eventually pass away. If a family member dies, whether or not they get a place in the village chronicle depends on their career choice.
Before each round begins, the action spaces are filled with influence cubes and plague cubes. Then, starting with the first player, everyone takes turns carrying out actions.
During your turn, you choose one cube from an action space and perform the action associated with that space. When all the cubes are taken, the round is done. To start a new round, refill the green bag and replace the cubes in the action spaces.
Influence Cubes and Plague Cubes
In order to perform certain actions in the village, you need influence cubes. There are different types of influence available:
#image.jpg | Orange | skill | crafts, travel |
#image.jpg | Green | persuasiveness | market, council chamber |
#image.jpg | Brown | faith | church, travel |
#image.jpg | Pink | knowledge | crafts, travel |
#image.jpg | Black | The black cubes are not a type of influence. They are plague cubes that reduce the life span of your family members. |
Now, let me tell you about the different colors in the game Village and what they mean. Each color represents a different aspect that is important for your gameplay.
First, we have the color orange, which represents skill. This skill is necessary for various activities like crafts and travel. So, if you want to be successful in these areas, you need to have orange influence.
Then, we have the color green, which represents persuasiveness. Having green influence is crucial for activities like market and council chamber. It helps you make successful trades and build influence in political matters.
The color brown represents faith. This type of influence is required for activities related to the church and travel. If you want your family to have a strong connection to religious matters or to embark on journeys, brown influence is essential.
Next, we have the color pink, which represents knowledge. Having pink influence is important for activities like crafts and travel. It helps your family members gain knowledge and expertise in various fields.
Lastly, we have the black cubes. It’s essential to note that these cubes are not a type of influence. They are plague cubes that reduce the life span of your family members. So, be careful when dealing with them and try to avoid their negative effects.
Now that you know what each color represents, you can strategize your gameplay accordingly. Remember, the right mix of influences is crucial for success in the game Village. Good luck!
Getting ready to take action
Before we start the game, we need to prepare our resources. The setup card tells us how many different influence cubes we need to gather from the supply and add them to the green bag at the beginning of each round. We also need to add all available plague cubes to the bag.
Once we have all the cubes in the bag, it’s time to mix them up really well. After that, we randomly distribute a certain number of cubes onto each action space on the game board. The setup card will show us how many cubes should go on each action space.
Note: If there aren’t enough influence cubes of a specific color available in the supply, only add the cubes that are available. This ensures that the action spaces can still be fully seeded since some cubes remain in the bag each round. After that, it’s time for the starting player to take their turn.
Taking Your Turn
When it’s your turn, you have to choose an action space and take either an influence cube or a plague cube from it. If you choose an influence cube, you can place it on your farmyard. Keep in mind that you can have as many influence cubes on your farmyard as you want.
If you choose a plague cube, you have to return it to the supply right away. In addition, you will lose 2 units of time. This means you have to move your life time track marker 2 spaces forward in a clockwise direction.
When you decide to take an action in the game, you have the option to either take the influence or plague cube from the action space. It’s up to you to choose what you want to do.
The importance of choice
When you do something that takes time, you have to move your marker forward on the time track. Each hourglass is one unit of time. You also lose 2 time when you take a plague cube. If your marker goes past the bridge, one of your oldest family members dies.
The things you can do
Get grain
If you have anyone from your family helping out on the farm, they can do the harvest work. When they do, you get 2 bags of grain right away and put them on the right spots on your farm. But if no one from your family is on the farm, you can’t do the harvest.
If you have a horse and a plow, you get 3 bags of grain instead. And if you have an ox and a plow, you get 4 bags of grain instead. But you can only use one of these combos. It doesn’t matter if you have lots of family members, plows, oxen, or horses – they won’t help you get more grain during a harvest.
When you do the harvest, you don’t use up any of your goods. So if you use an ox and a plow with the harvest, you don’t have to get rid of them. And your family members stay on the farm.
Hey there! Did you know that each farmyard can only hold a maximum of 5 bags of grain? It’s true! You’re not allowed to have more than 5 bags of grain at once.
What about Family?
When a new family member is born, it’s like welcoming a new member into the family. I get to add one of my family members to our farmyard. But there’s a catch – I can only choose the family member with the lowest number from the supply. For example, if I have a family member with the number “2”, two with the number “3”, and two with the number “4” left in the supply, I have to take the “2” family member.
But here’s something interesting – instead of adding a new family member, I can use this action to bring back one of my employed family members from the game board to our farmyard. It’s like giving them a break!
Oh, and one more thing to remember – if I add family members to the game board during other actions or through the “church” action, they can only come from our farmyard.
Crafts
When you’re playing this game, you have the ability to create one item in any of the five craft buildings. Just take the corresponding goods tile and place it next to your farmyard. However, if you choose to go to the mill instead, you’ll earn two coins instead of producing a good.
There are two different ways to produce a good. In each craft building (except the mill), you can choose:
- a) To use up some of your time in order to produce the good (you’ll need a family member in the craft building to do this) OR
- b) To use influence cubes or bags of grain (depending on the good) to pay for the produced good.
a) Spend time to acquire a good
If you want to buy something over time, you have to teach someone in your family how to make it. Take one of your family members from the farm and put them in the place where they can learn the craft. This costs some time, which is shown by the hourglass symbols next to the family member on the roof of the building.
After that, you can make the thing you want by spending the amount of time shown by the arrow on the roof of the building.
When you place a family member on a craft building in the game, they will stay there until the end (unless they die or return to the farmyard using the “family” action). While they’re on the craft building, you have the option to produce a good using the “crafts” action. The best part is, this time it doesn’t take as long because your family member is already trained!
Keep in mind that family members can only produce goods from the specific craft building they’re placed on. For example, a blacksmith can only produce plows, not scrolls. However, there’s no limit to the number of family members you can have on any building, regardless of their color. (Just remember, you’re not allowed to place family members on the mill).
b) Get goods by trading influence cubes (or bags of grain)
Whether or not someone in your family is working at a craft building, you can still buy the things it makes by giving back some influence cubes (or bags of grain if it’s a stable) to the supply. You don’t have to have a family member working there. (In the picture on the left, Philipp could have also bought the wagon by giving back 1 orange and 1 pink influence cube – without sending a family member and wasting time).
Market
The market is an interesting and complex concept. It refers to the arena where individuals come together to buy and sell goods and services. It’s like a bustling bazaar, teeming with activity and opportunities.
When I think about the market, I picture a colorful and vibrant place, filled with vendors and customers. It’s a place where you can find everything from fresh produce to handmade crafts. It’s a place where you can haggle and negotiate prices, and walk away with a good deal.
But the market is more than just a physical space. It can also refer to the broader economy and the interactions between buyers and sellers. These interactions can take place in person or online, and they can be influenced by a wide range of factors, such as supply and demand, competition, and consumer preferences.
Understanding the market is essential if you want to make informed decisions as a buyer or seller. By keeping an eye on market trends and analyzing data, you can identify opportunities and make smart choices. For example, if you see that demand for a certain product is increasing, you might consider investing in it. Conversely, if you see that a market is oversaturated, you might look for other opportunities.
However, the market can be a double-edged sword. While there are ample opportunities for success, there are also risks involved. It’s important to approach the market with caution and do your research. By staying informed and making thoughtful decisions, you can navigate the market successfully.
So, whether you’re a buyer or a seller, the market is a fascinating and dynamic place. It’s a world of possibilities, where you can find what you’re looking for and discover new things along the way. Embrace the market, and let it guide you on your journey.
When I trigger this action, it sets off a bustling market day where everyone can join in. It’s an important step that we all have to take. We have to make sure a market day happens.
And here’s the exciting part: if you’re the one who triggered the action, you get to be the first player to serve a customer. You can only serve the customers right in front of the stalls with the blue borders. The ones on the other 5 spaces have to wait their turn.
Each customer has specific things they want, like goods or bags of grain. To serve a customer, you have to give them what they need. You return the goods or grain to the supply and take the customer tile. Put the tile face down next to your farmyard. At the end of the game, that customer will be worth the number of prestige points printed on it.
Alright, here’s how the game works: first, we decide who goes first. After that, the rest of the players take their turns in a clockwise direction. When it’s your turn, you can choose one of the customers that is still available.
Now, here’s where things get interesting. In addition to delivering the goods and bags of grain that the customer wants, you also have to pay 1 green influence cube and 1 time. If you can’t or don’t want to sell anything, you have to pass and wait until the next market day.
Once everyone has had a turn, it’s your chance to serve another customer. However, this time you have to pay 1 green influence cube and 1 time. Your first sale is the only one that’s free.
The market day continues in a clockwise direction until either all the customers have been served or all the players have passed. And that’s how the game goes!
When the market day is over, we need to make sure that there are enough customers for the next day. How do we do that? Well, first, we move the customers who were waiting to the empty spots. This way, they get a chance to be served the next day. After that, we need to fill up the waiting line with new customers from the pile. This ensures that there are always new customers coming in.
Now, here’s an important thing to keep in mind. If none of the customers were served that day, we don’t need to do anything. All the customer tiles will stay where they are. We’ll just wait for the next day to start again.
But what happens if all the customers have been served at some point? In that case, we don’t need to do anything for the remainder of the game. The market stalls will remain empty.
Travel
When you send a family member out into the world, it’s like they’re going on an adventure! If you don’t have any family members on the travel map, you can choose one from your farmyard and send them to a nearby city. Just make sure you have enough resources to cover the cost of the trip, which you can see on the path. You’ll need to spend 2 time and return 1 wagon back to the supply.
But wait, there’s more! Depending on the path you choose, you’ll also have to give up either 2 brown or 2 pink influence cubes. It’s a bit of a trade-off, but it’s worth it because when you arrive at the city, you’ll get a reward. Look for the circle, which shows you’ll earn 3 prestige points.
If you already have a family member in a city on the travel map, you have options:
- You can send another family member from your farmyard to one of the nearby cities,
- To move one of your family members to a new city, choose a city that is directly connected to the city your family member is currently in.
- You will need to pay the cost of the trip to the new city.
- Once your family member reaches the new city, place a marker on it.
- You can choose to receive one of the following rewards: 2 influence cubes from the supply, 1 coin, or 3 prestige points.
- Please note that you can only receive a city’s reward and place a marker once per city.
Remember, if your family member travels to a city where you already have a marker, you cannot place another marker or receive the reward for that city.
You can have multiple family members and markers of different colors in any city.
At the end of the game, you will earn prestige points based on the total number of cities your family visited.
The Importance of the Council Chamber
I know you may be wondering, what’s the big deal about a council chamber? Well, let me tell you, it’s a pretty fascinating place! The council chamber plays a crucial role in decision-making and governance, making it an important element in any community. It serves as a central hub where leaders gather to discuss, debate, and make important choices that affect the lives of the people they serve.
When I think about the council chamber, I can’t help but imagine the energy and excitement that fills the room. It’s like a beehive, buzzing with ideas, perspectives, and passionate voices. As the councillors gather around the table, their different backgrounds and experiences merge, creating a rich tapestry of knowledge and insight. It’s truly awe-inspiring to witness these discussions unfold.
The council chamber acts as a platform for democratic processes. It’s a place where ideas clash and opinions are voiced freely. In this space, decisions are made through collective deliberation and voting, ensuring that all voices are heard and considered. It’s remarkable how this chamber fosters a sense of unity, where diverse opinions come together for the greater good.
Furthermore, the council chamber serves as a powerful symbol of transparency and accountability. As citizens, we have the right to witness the decision-making process firsthand. By opening up these meetings to the public, the council chamber allows us to hold our leaders accountable for the choices they make. This transparency strengthens trust and fosters a sense of civic participation, making us active participants in shaping our community’s future.
So next time you hear about a council chamber, remember, it’s not just a room with a table and chairs. It’s a vibrant space where ideas intersect, where democracy thrives, and where the voice of the people resonates. The council chamber is truly the beating heart of any community, and understanding its importance is crucial for an engaged and empowered citizen.
You have the power to make a difference in the council chamber. There are three ways you can use this power:
- a) Take a family member from your farm and put them on the first stage of the council chamber. This will cost you either 1 time and 2 green influence cubes, or 1 time and 1 scroll. By doing this, you can take advantage of the special privilege on this stage, which allows you to become the next starting player. OR
- b) Move one of your family members who is already in the council chamber forward one stage. This will cost you either 1 scroll or 2 green influence cubes. In addition, you will need to spend either 2 or 3 time, depending on the stage. By doing this, you can also take advantage of the privilege action that is shown below either the current or a previous stage where your family member is located. OR
Understanding the Privileges:
- a) If you don’t have any family members in the council chamber, you must place a family member there before performing a privilege action.
- b) If you have multiple family members in the council chamber, choose one to perform the privilege action while the others stay put.
- c) If you already have at least one family member in the council chamber, you can perform a privilege action without moving another family member. You can choose to do the privilege action currently available or any previous stage for free.
Breakdown of the Privileges:
In the game, there are four important steps that you need to follow. Let me explain them to you:
1. First, I need to take the starting player marker from the council chamber. If someone else already took it, I don’t get anything. But if I take it, I’ll be the starting player in the next round. When the next round begins, I give back the starting player marker and put it in its place in the council chamber.
2. The second step is to take two cubes of influence from the supply. I get to choose which ones I want.
3. In the third step, I get to pick a goods tile from the supply. I choose the one I want and put it next to my farmyard.
4. The final step is to pay one coin to the supply. In return, I get three prestige points on the prestige track. It’s a good deal!
And that’s it! Those are the four stages that I need to go through in the game. I hope this helps you understand how to play. Have fun!
Hey, did you know that there’s no restriction on how many family members you can have on a stage? Pretty cool, right? When the game ends, any family member who’s made it to at least the second stage in the council chamber will earn you some prestige points.
Church
Hey there! How about adding one of your farmyard family members to the mysterious black bag? It’s a neat little trick, but you’ll have to pay either one brown influence cube (which you’ll get back later) or spend three units of time. Tough choices, huh?
Once inside the black bag, these family members might just get called upon during a church mass. Mass happens at the end of each round and at the end of the game. How exciting!
Behold the well (substitute action)!
Instead of picking a cube from a space where actions are performed, you have another option. You can return 3 influence cubes of the same color to the supply (but not plague cubes). And for doing this, you can choose to do any of the actions that were listed before.
Take note: You can only use the well action if there is at least one cube left on any of the action spaces. And by the way, this is the only way you can perform an action when there are no cubes left on the corresponding action space.
The Round Ends
When a player takes the last cube from the board (meaning all action spaces are empty), they first perform their action like they normally would. Then, the current round is finished and a mass is declared.
Each mass has three phases:
1. Draw 4 pieces from the black bag
Let’s have some fun with a game called “Family Shuffle!” All you need is a black bag, some family members, and a bunch of black monks. Sound exciting? Well, let me explain how it works.
First things first, we need to shuffle all the family members and black monks into the black bag. Make sure to mix them up really well! Once they’re all mixed up, it’s time to start the game.
Each player will take turns drawing from the bag. We’ll start with the first player and then go clockwise. The goal is to draw four pieces from the bag, either randomly or by paying some coins to choose the specific ones you want.
Here’s the catch: there are always four black monks in the bag, so if you want to make sure your family members get chosen, you have to pay 1 coin for each family member you want to draw. It’s like bribing Fate to work in your favor!
Now that you know the rules, it’s time to start playing “Family Shuffle!” Are you ready to dive into the mystery of the bag and see who you’ll end up with?
When you have purchased a total of 4 family members, you cannot draw any more pieces from the bag. If you have not bought 4 family members yet, you must randomly draw the remaining pieces to reach a total of 4. After drawing 4 pieces, put all black monks back in the bag. Take the family members you have drawn and place them on the large rightmost glass window of the church. Any family members that are still in the bag will stay there and can be drawn in the next mass.
2. Ascend the church hierarchy with your family members
When I draw 4 pieces from the bag, I get the chance to move my family members up in the church hierarchy. I can move them to the left on the windows. Each player gets a turn to do this, starting with the first player and going clockwise. I can move my family members to the next window on the left by returning bags of grain to the supply. I have to return as many bags of grain as there are shown between the windows.
3. Give 2 prestige points to the player with the most members in the church
When the mass comes to an end, the player with the most family members in the church gains 2 prestige points on the track. If there’s a tie, the player whose family member is furthest to the left gets the points. If there’s still a tie, then each tied player gains 2 prestige points.
At the end of the game, each family member in the church is worth prestige points based on how high they have moved up.
Starting a New Round
If a player has obtained the next starting player marker in the previous round, they now take the starting player marker and put the next one back in its spot in the council chamber. If not, the starting player remains the same. The new round begins by filling the green bag with cubes and placing them in the action spaces.
The Importance of Coins
Coins are an essential part of the game. They can be obtained at the mill or while traveling. There are three ways to use coins:
- You can use coins to purchase prestige points in the council chamber during the final stage of the game.
- Coins can ensure that your family members are selected from the black bag during a mass.
- You can use coins as a JOKER for any one influence cube.
Remember, at the end of the game, each coin that you did not spend is worth one prestige point.
When a Family Member Passes Away
When we play the game, we often have to trade time for actions. This means moving our life time marker forward on the track, going in a clockwise direction. Unfortunately, if we move the marker past the bridge, one of our oldest family members passes away. But don’t worry, we still get to finish our chosen action before making this tough decision.
There is an exception though. If we happen to move our marker past the bridge during a market day, we have to choose which family member dies right away.
When it comes to our family, there’s a strange rule: the one with the lowest number has to die. If we have multiple family members with the same low number, we get to choose who goes. But there’s a catch – the dying family member must be visible, either on the game board or on our farmyard. Those who haven’t entered play or are still in the black bag are safe.
Let me give you an example: I decide to take the “crafts” action and grab a plague cube from the action space. Unfortunately, this comes with a cost – I lose 2 time, moving my marker on the life time track past the bridge.
Right before one of my family members dies, I can still do the “crafts” action. I take one family member from my farmyard and put them onto the smithy, which takes 3 units of time. Then, I produce a plow, which also takes 3 units of time. But now, after completing my action, I have to decide which family member with the lowest number will die. In this case, I have two family members with a “1” on the game board, and I choose the craftsman I just placed onto the smithy to be the one who dies.
When one of my family members is about to die, there are always two possibilities:
- a) The Village Chronicle has room for more stories
The Village Chronicle is a special book that holds the stories of the amazing people who have lived in our village. There are still a few spaces available in the book for each different job category. When someone passes away, depending on where they were working at the time, their story will be added to one of these open spaces:
- Teachers
- Farmers
- Doctors
- Artists
Note: It’s important to always lay down family members who have passed away so we can easily distinguish them from those who are still living.
Hint: If you want to add family members to the Village Chronicle, it’s a good idea to do it quickly. Don’t be afraid to spend some time to make that happen.
Hey there! Let me give you a helpful hint for playing this game. When you’re choosing a family member from your farmyard to put on the game board, make sure to think about their number. The family members with a “1” are more likely to die during the game. So if you want to score well in the church or council chamber at the end of the game, it’s usually better to place family members with higher numbers.
The Game’s End
The game comes to an end when a family member is placed on either:
- a) the last empty space in the village chronicle or

If you’re the one who placed a family member on the last empty space of the village chronicle or anonymous grave, you won’t get another turn.
But don’t worry, everyone else still has a chance to make one last move, going clockwise in player order. Just like before, you have two options: take an influence or plague cube from an action space, or pay 3 same-colored influence cubes to perform the action. However, if the final cube is taken from the game board, the action spaces won’t be refilled, even if there are other players left to act. In this special case, the remaining players can perform any action without having to return 3 same-colored influence cubes to the supply.
It’s important to note that, in this situation, we skip the usual mass at the end of a round. The final mass won’t be said until all players have taken their final action.
Note: If any members of your family die during the final stages and there are no available spaces in the village chronicle or graves, they will be removed from the game.
Special circumstance: If the end of the game is triggered on a market day, you will need to complete the market day first. Afterward, we’ll figure out who triggered the end of the game by checking who occupies the last chronicle space or grave. If the player who triggered the market day is the same player who triggered the end of the game, then they have taken their last turn and everyone else has one more action.
If the end of the game was triggered by a different player, then all players, in clockwise order, will have the opportunity to take one more action. (The player who triggered the market day will take their final turn). After each player has taken their last action, we will say the final mass and proceed to the final scoring.
Final Scoring
Every time you earn prestige points, you get to score them by moving your marker forward on the prestige track. The player who accumulates the most prestige points wins the game.
In the event of a tie, the player who has served the most customers will come out on top. If there is still a tie, the player with the highest number of “living” family members will be declared the winner.
Travel
To determine your travel points, count the number of cities your family has visited on the travel map. You gain prestige points based on the number of markers of your color:
- 1 city = 1 point
- 2 cities = 3 points
- 3 cities = 6 points
- 4 cities = 10 points
- 5 cities = 14 points
- 6 cities = 18 points
Council Chamber
When it comes to scoring points in the 4th stage, each family member is worth 6 points. In the 3rd stage, each family member carries 4 points. Moving on to the 2nd stage, every family member is worth 2 points. However, in the 1st stage, no points are awarded.
Now let’s talk about the Church.
The rightmost window in the Church is home to family members worth 2 points. If you look at the second window, each family member there is worth 3 points. As for the third window, you’ll find family members worth 4 points.
Conversely, the leftmost window of the Church holds valuable family members worth 6 points. But remember, any family members you see in the black bag are not worth any points.
Now, let’s discuss the Village Chronicle.
If your family has a place in the village chronicle, you’ll earn prestige points. The more family members mentioned, the more points you get!
No points for 1 or 2 family members. If you have 3, that’s worth 4 points. A family of 4 gets 7 points. But if you have 5 or more, that’s a whopping 12 points!
Your secret customers
When the game ends, everyone reveals their secret customer tiles. These tiles have prestige points printed on them, which you’ll collect.
Counting coins
Each coin you have is worth 1 prestige point!
