Let’s Discover the Exciting Rules of the UNO Monster High Game!
Hey there! I’m about to take you on a thrilling journey through the world of UNO Monster High. Brace yourself for a spine-tingling experience like no other!
First things first, let’s talk about what makes this game so special. UNO Monster High combines the fast-paced action of UNO with the iconic characters from Monster High. It’s a match made in monster heaven!
Now, let’s dive into the rules. Like any UNO game, the objective is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. But in UNO Monster High, there’s a twist – you’ll be playing with cards featuring your favorite Monster High ghouls.
Each card in the UNO Monster High deck belongs to a specific character, whether it’s Draculaura, Frankie Stein, Clawdeen Wolf, or one of the other spooky pals. These characters bring their own special abilities to the game, so keep an eye out for their unique powers!
Here’s how the game unfolds. The dealer shuffles the deck and deals seven cards to each player. The remaining cards are placed facedown to create the draw pile. The top card of the draw pile is flipped over to start the discard pile.
Now it’s time to get down to business! The player to the left of the dealer goes first and must match the top card of the discard pile either by color, number, or character. If they don’t have a matching card, they must draw a card from the draw pile. If the drawn card is a match, they can play it immediately.
Throughout the game, players can strategically use character cards to reverse the direction of play, skip a player, or make the next player draw extra cards. These special cards add a wicked twist, so use them wisely to gain the upper hand!
Remember, when you have only one card left in your hand, you must call out “UNO” to avoid being penalized. If you forget to say it and another player notices, you’ll have to draw two additional cards as punishment. So be vigilant and keep your wits about you!
The game continues in a whirlwind of action and suspense until one player has successfully emptied their hand. They are declared the winner of the game, and a new round can begin for more monstrous fun!
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, shuffle those cards, and prepare for an unforgettable UNO Monster High adventure. Trust me, once you dive into this thrilling game, you won’t want to leave the creepy world of Monster High!

The Goal of the Game
Your main objective is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards in each round. You’ll also score points for the cards your opponents are left holding. The player who reaches 500 points first is the ultimate winner.
How to Set Up the Game
- First, we each take a card. Whoever gets the highest number will be the dealer (But don’t count any card with a symbol, it’s zero).
- Next, the dealer shuffles the deck and gives each of us 7 cards.
- Then, the remaining cards are placed facedown to create the DRAW pile.
- The dealer turns over the top card from the DRAW pile to start the DISCARD pile.
Game Play
When it’s my turn, I start playing.
During your turn, you have to find a card in your hand that matches the card on top of the discard pile. You can match it by number, color, or symbol (symbols are for Action Cards).
For example: If the card on the discard pile is a pink 7, you need to play a pink card or any 7, regardless of color. Or, you can play a Wild card.
If you don’t have a card that matches the one on the discard pile, you have to pick a card from the draw pile. If the card you pick up can be played, you can put it down right away. If not, the turn moves on to the next player.
When playing Uno, you have the option to not play a card from your hand. If you choose not to, you must draw a card from the draw pile. However, if you draw a playable card, you can play it immediately in the same turn. Keep in mind that you cannot play any other cards from your hand after drawing.
Special Cards
Draw Two Card – When you play this card, you make the next player draw 2 cards and skip their turn.
You can only play this card on a card that matches the color or on another Draw Two card. If it’s the first card played, the same rule still applies.
Reverse Card – When you play this card, the direction of play reverses (if play is currently to the left, then play changes to the right, and vice versa).
Only play this card if the color matches or if there is another Reverse card on the table. If the Reverse card is revealed at the start, the dealer will start the game, and the play order will go in the opposite direction instead of the usual.
Skip Card – When you play this card, you make the next player lose their turn. You can only play this card if it matches the color of the previous card or if another Skip card was played.
If a Skip card is revealed at the start of the game, the player on the left of the dealer loses their turn, so the player after them starts the game.
Wild Card – When you play this card, you can pick any color to continue the game, including the current color before the Wild card was played.
Even if you have another card you can play, you are allowed to play a Wild card on your turn. If a Wild card is shown at the start of the game, the person on the left side of the dealer gets to choose the color that the game will continue with.
The Wild Draw 4 Card – When I play this card, I get to choose the color that continues the game. In addition, the next player has to draw 4 cards from the draw pile and they lose their turn.
But here’s the catch! I can only play this card if I don’t have another card in my hand that matches the color of the card on the discard pile. However, it’s okay to play this card if I have a card with a matching number or an Action Card.
If the Wild Draw 4 Card is turned up at the beginning of the game, I have to return it to the deck and pick another card.
Note: If you think someone played a Wild Draw 4 card unfairly (i.e., they had a matching card), you can question them.
The person you’re questioning has to show you their hand. If they’re guilty, they have to draw the 4 cards instead of you. But, if they’re innocent, you have to draw the 4 cards PLUS 2 more cards (that’s 6 cards in total)!
The Spooky “Urrrhhh” Card – Embrace your inner zombie! Ghoulia loves bringing order to chaos, even when it comes in the form of a creepy deck of cards. But don’t be scared! When you play this special card, you’ll actually get to give away some of those spine-chilling cards.
When you discard this card, you’ll choose a color from your hand that you want to get rid of. Then, starting with the player on your left and going clockwise, you’ll hand out one card to each player in order. And don’t forget to unleash your inner zombie while doing it – give each player a card with a hearty “Urrrhhh!”
It’s totally fine if not everyone gets the same number of cards. In fact, that’s just part of the fun! But here’s the best part: this card is also a Wild card. That means you get to decide which color to continue playing. If the Spooky “Urrrhhh” Card is revealed at the beginning of the game, the person to the left of the dealer gets to choose the color to start with.
Let’s Go Out and Play!
Hey there! When you’re down to your second-to-last card in a game of Uno, it’s time to get vocal and yell “UNO”! This is important because it lets everyone know that you only have one card left. If you forget to shout “UNO” and you get caught before the next player starts their turn, you’ll have to draw two cards. Oops!
Once a player gets rid of all their cards, that round comes to an end. We then tally up the points and start a brand new round.
Now, pay attention to the last card played in a round. If it’s a Draw Two or a Wild Draw Four card, the next player has to pick up 2 or 4 cards respectively. Ouch! Those extra cards count towards the final score, so keep an eye on them!
If we run out of cards in the DRAW pile but no player has gotten rid of all their cards yet, don’t worry! We simply mix up the DISCARD pile and keep on playing. Uno never stops!
The Art of Scoring
Here’s where it gets exciting! The first player to empty their hand in a round earns points based on the cards still held by their opponents. Here’s how it works:
I bet you’re wondering how scoring works in this game, right? Well, let me break it down for you. Each card has a specific point value, and at the end of each round, those points are added up to determine who’s in the lead. Here’s a rundown of the points for each type of card:
– All number cards (0-9): Face Value
– Draw Two: 20 Points
– Reverse: 20 Points
– Skip: 20 Points
– Wild: 50 Points
– Wild Draw Four: 50 Points
– Creeperific “Urrrhhh”: 50 Points
Once the round is over, and we’re keeping score, we tally up all the points. If no one has reached 500 points yet, we reshuffle the cards and start a new round. Make sense?
And here’s the exciting part – the game isn’t over until someone reaches 500 points. That’s right, the WINNER is the first player to hit that milestone. So keep on playing, and may the best player win!
