Now, let’s dive right into it and see how to play UNO Minecraft style. The rules are just a little bit different from the original UNO, but don’t worry, I’ll explain everything to you.
First things first, the goal of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. Easy peasy, right? But here’s the thing – you have to match your card with the color or number of the card on top of the discard pile.
For example, if the top card is a blue 7, you can play any blue card or any card with the number 7 on it. Simple, isn’t it? But there are a few special cards that can really spice up the game.
Let’s start with the Creeper card. When you play this card, the next player has to draw three cards instead of playing a card from their hand. Talk about a powerful move!
Then we have the Enderman card. When this card is played, the direction of play changes. So if you were going clockwise, now you’ll go counter-clockwise. It’s a real game-changer, trust me.
The Skeleton card is another tricky one. When played, the next player loses their turn. That’s right, they sit there and do nothing while everyone else keeps having fun. It’s a strategic move for sure.
Now, let’s not forget about the Zombie card. This little fella allows you to swap your hand with any other player. So if you’re stuck with a bunch of cards you don’t like, just play the Zombie card and switch it up. It’s like a little gift from the game itself.

The Goal of the Game
The goal is simple: be the first one to get rid of all your cards and earn points by making your opponents hold cards. The person who accumulates 500 points wins the game.
Setting Up
1. Every player picks a card. The player with the highest number gets to be the dealer. If there’s a symbol on the card, consider it as zero.
2. The dealer shuffles the deck and gives each player 7 cards.
3. The remaining deck is placed face-down to create a “DRAW” pile.

Here’s how the game starts: the top card of the DRAW pile is turned over to begin a discard pile.

Let’s Get Started
Okay, let’s kick off this game! The person sitting to the left of the dealer gets the ball rolling by playing first.
When it’s your turn, you have to find a card in your hand that matches either the number, color, or symbol of the card sitting on the top of the DISCARD pile.
For example, if the card on top of the discard pile is a blue 7, you have a few options. You can play a blue card of any number, or you can play any color card that has the number 7. You might even decide to go bold and play a Wild card!
If you can’t match the card on the discard pile with any of your own cards, don’t worry. You just have to draw a card from the DRAW pile. And hey, if the card you draw happens to be playable, go ahead and play it right away. But if not, then it’s the next player’s turn.
When playing the card game, you have a choice. You can play a card from your hand or draw a card from the draw pile. If you choose to draw a card, you cannot play any other card from your hand in that turn. However, if the card you draw is playable, you can put it down immediately.
The Roles of Action Cards
Draw Two Card

So here’s the deal: when you play this card, the next poor player has to draw 2 cards and sit out their turn. Simple as that. But there’s a catch: you can only play this card on a card of the same color or on another Draw Two card. And if this card pops up right at the start of the game, well, you guessed it, the same rule applies. Tough luck, huh?
Reverse Card

When you play this card, you’ll switch the direction of play! That means if it’s going to the left, it’ll change to the right, and vice versa. Pretty cool, huh? But wait, there’s more. You can only play this card if it matches the color of the card on top of the discard pile or if there’s already another Reverse card there. So make sure you choose wisely!
Now, imagine you start the game and this card is the first one you turn over. Well, guess what? You get to go first! But here’s the twist – instead of playing to the left like usual, you’ll be going to the right. Talk about shaking things up!
Skip Card

When you play this card, the next person doesn’t get to take their turn. This card can only be played on a card that has the same color or another Skip card.
If a Skip card is the first card to be played, then the player on the left of the dealer doesn’t get to take their turn, and the player on the left of them starts the game.
Wildcard

When you play this card, you get to pick which color the game continues with (any color, even the one that was already in play before the Wild card was played).
Even if you have another playable card in your hand, you can still play a Wild card on your turn. If a Wild card is revealed at the start of the game, the player to the left of the dealer gets to choose the color that continues play.
Wild Draw 4 Card

Hey there! When you play this card, you get to pick the color that keeps the game going AND the next player has to draw 4 cards from the DRAW pile and miss their turn.
But here’s the catch! You can only play this card when you DON’T have another card in your hand that matches the COLOR on the DISCARD pile (but it’s okay to play this card if you have cards with the same number or Action Cards). If this card is turned up at the start of the game, put it back in the deck and choose another card.
Just so you know: If you think someone played a Wild Draw 4 card on you unfairly (like they had a card that matched), you can question that player. The player you challenge has to show you (the challenger) their hand.
If you’re caught, you have to pick up 4 cards instead of me. But if you’re innocent, you have to pick up not only 4 cards but also 2 more cards (a total of 6 cards)!
Creeper Card

Hey there! When I pick this card from the Draw Pile, I gotta show it to all of you. Then, I gotta grab 3 more cards from that pile and add them to my hand.
If one of those 3 extra cards is a creeper card, I don’t have to show it to you. I can just keep it in my hand and use it like a regular wild card. The Creeper Card is also wild, so I get to choose the color to continue the game.
If we happen to flip this card at the start, the person on the dealer’s left gets to pick the starting color.
When I’m Almost Out
When I play my second-to-last card, I have to shout “UNO” to let you know I’m down to only one card. If I forget to say “UNO” and you catch me before the next player’s turn, I have to pick up two more cards.
The moment a player runs out of cards, that’s when the round ends. We tally up the points (see SCORING) and jump right back into the game.
If the last card played in a round happens to be a Draw Two or a Wild Draw Four card, the next player will have to draw 2 or 4 cards, respectively. Don’t worry, we’ll count those cards when we calculate the points.
If all players still have cards in their hands by the time the DRAW pile runs out, we’ll reshuffle the cards in the discard pile and keep the game going.
Scoring
The first person to get rid of all their cards in a round earns points based on the cards remaining in their opponents’ hands:
- Number cards (0-9): They’re worth their face value.
- Draw Two: A hefty 20 points.
- Reverse: Also worth 20 points.
- Skip: Yup, 20 points.
- Wild: A cool 50 points.
- Wild Draw Four: Another 50 points.
- Creeper: You guessed it, 50 points.
Once the score for the round has been counted up, if nobody has reached 500 points, we’ll mix the cards up and start a new round.
Game Over
The champion is the first player to hit 500 points.
