As I dive into the depths of this mystical world, I am intrigued by the intricate gameplay mechanics that await me. The rules may seem daunting at first, but fear not! I am here to guide you through the process, step by step.
To begin, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with the board and its various components. This includes the Workshop, Laboratory, and Library, each playing a crucial role in your alchemical pursuits. Within these spaces, you will find resources, books, and experiments waiting to be explored.
Once you are acquainted with the game setup, you’ll need to understand the turn structure. Each round is divided into several phases, encompassing different activities such as drafting dice, conducting experiments, and gaining knowledge. It’s important to strategize and plan your actions carefully, as each decision will have long-lasting consequences.
In Trismegistus, dice rolling is a core element of gameplay. The values rolled on the dice will determine the resources you receive and the actions you can take. But beware – Lady Luck can be fickle, and your plans may be thwarted by the whims of chance.
As I delve deeper into the game, I discover the multitude of options available. You can transmute resources into more valuable ones, experiment with different combinations, and even publish your alchemical discoveries. The possibilities are truly endless.
Moreover, your path to victory lies not only in creating powerful potions and artifacts but also in unraveling the secrets of the Philosopher’s Stone. This legendary substance holds immense power, and harnessing its energy will elevate your alchemical abilities to new heights.
As I progress further, I realize that this solo game offers a unique challenge. The absence of opponents intensifies the need for meticulous planning and meticulous execution of your strategies. Every decision rests solely on your shoulders, and the consequences of your actions are yours alone to bear.
With these solo rules in mind, you are now ready to embark on your journey into the world of Trismegistus. Unleash your inner alchemist and unlock the mysteries of the ages. The fate of the world is in your hands, and only you can determine the ultimate path to alchemical mastery. Let the journey begin!
Welcome to the world of Trismegistus! I’m Botmegistus, your virtual opponent. Together, we can play a thrilling game of Trismegistus, where “you” will be the lone human player. Let’s dive in!
Getting Ready to Play
First, set up the main game board and gather all the components as if you were preparing for a 2-player game. Don’t forget, you’ll be the first player!
Next, set aside the 4 specialization cards for now. We’ll need them later on in the game.
Make sure to give Botmegistus its tracker card. You can place it somewhere nearby the game board. To prepare the draw deck for Botmegistus, make sure to shuffle the Automa basic cards and place them face-down near the tracker card. Botmegistus should also receive 1 Ethereal Die token and 2 Gold, which can be kept on its tracker card until they’re ready to be used.
Hey there! I want to give you some tips on playing the game Botmegistus. First of all, don’t forget that you shouldn’t give the game a player mat, formula tokens, starting essences, or any starting materials, except for the gold that’s mentioned and based on the difficulty level. Also, don’t give the game a starting selection of artifacts, publications, or experiments.
Once you’ve chosen your starting artifact from the two that you have, give Botmegistus the artifact that you don’t want. Then, find the Automa personality card that matches the symbol on the starting artifact and mix it in with the Automa draw deck.
You can put the other three personality cards back in the box since you won’t need them for this game. But here’s a tip: for your first game against Botmegistus, you might want to skip this step and play without the Automa personality cards. If you want to make the game easier or harder, check out the details on adjusting the difficulty.
Hey there! Let me explain a cool gameplay mechanic to you. Roll the dice twice and move your game piece accordingly. Here’s what each symbol means:
- If you roll
, move up the Earth/Fire/Water/Air Mastery track that matches the Essence shown in the bowl of the symbol you rolled.
- If you roll
or
, move up your lowest track.
Now, during the game, you play just like normal. But when it’s the Botmegistus’ turn, things get interesting. Flip the next card from the Automa deck face-up, and that card will determine what the Botmegistus does on its turn. If you ever run out of cards in the draw deck, don’t worry! Just shuffle all the used Automa cards to create a new draw deck.
But wait, there’s more! A cool variant called the Advanced Planning Variant.
If you want to make your games against Botmegistus more predictable, try this variant. At the start of the game, reveal two cards from the Automa deck and place them side by side. During Botmegistus’ turn, roll the regular six-sided die.
If you roll a 1, 2, or 3, use the left card to determine Botmegistus’ actions for the turn. If you roll a 4, 5, or 6, use the right card instead. After using the card, discard it and replace it from the deck. All other rules stay the same.
General Note: Botmegistus only collects Experiments, Artifacts, Gold, and occasionally Ethereal Die Tokens. It ignores any other resources.
Draft Phase
If I don’t have a die on my tracker card, I’ll draft one at this point in the game. The die I choose will be based on the color or symbols shown on the active Automa card. However, I also have a priority list to follow when making this decision. Here are the options in order of highest potency:
– Take a die of the highest potency available.
- When Botmegistus rolls a die that matches the color of a card, I will set it to the symbol shown on the card, starting from the left if there are multiple symbols.
- If Botmegistus rolls a die that matches the color of a card, I will set it to the leftmost symbol on the card.
- If there are two symbols on the card, I will set the die to the symbol on the right, as long as the die’s color matches the card’s color.
If you’re looking for the right thing to choose, it’s important to understand the different options. The choices can be overwhelming, but don’t worry, I’m here to help you figure it out.
When it comes to finding the best option, keep in mind that each one has its pros and cons. It’s like a double-edged sword, you know? On one hand, you have the potential benefits, but on the other hand, there may be some drawbacks.
So, let’s dive in and explore the meaning behind each option. Understanding their nuances will help you make a well-informed decision.
First off, we have option A. This option has been known to elevate the user experience and generate a positive response. It’s like a magic elixir that can make things better. However, it may not be suitable for everyone, as it has its limitations.
Option B, on the other hand, offers a different set of advantages and disadvantages. It may not have the same level of impact as option A, but it can still deliver positive results. It’s like a reliable friend you can count on.
Lastly, we have option C. This option is a bit of a wildcard. It has its own unique qualities that set it apart from the rest. Some people may find it to be exactly what they’re looking for, while others may not be as impressed. It’s like a mystery waiting to be unraveled.
In conclusion, when it comes to choosing the right option, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. It ultimately depends on your specific needs and preferences. By understanding the different options and evaluating their pros and cons, you can make a decision that feels right for you. So take your time, weigh your options, and trust your instincts. You’ve got this!
- If I have a die with a symbol of a different color, I will set it to the symbol (left-most if there are multiple symbols) shown on the card.
- If I have a die with the symbol (left-most if there are multiple symbols) on the card of a different color, I will use that die.
- If there are two symbols on the card, I will choose a die with the right symbol on it, from among dice of a different color.
If none of the above situations apply, I will select the die with the highest potency, as long as it is the same color as the card.
If I’m in a tie, I have to take a look at the cards. Sometimes, instead of a symbol, a card will say “max.” When that happens, I have to take the die of that color that has the highest potency. Now, if the highest potency happens to be , then I’ll just set it to
. But if there are no dice of that color available, then I have to use a different color, following the priority I mentioned earlier.
I’ll take the die that I chose and place it on the corresponding space on the potency track. Now, here’s something interesting: if I still have some Ethereal Die tokens left, and I drafted a die with a potency less than 5, I can spend one Ethereal Die token right now to increase the potency of the drafted die by 1.
Action Phase
Spending Potency
When I use Botmegistus, I spend as much potency as is shown on its card. The potency can be 1, 2, or 3. However, if I don’t have enough potency to match the amount shown on the card, I still spend all the potency I have. Even if I couldn’t spend the full amount, I still get to perform the action.
Performing the Action
Now, Botmegistus will perform the action indicated on its card. The action could be one of the following:
A. Basic Cards:
When you obtain an Artifact,
it’s like finding a hidden treasure. You feel a rush of joy and excitement as you hold it in your hands, and you can’t help but marvel at its unique beauty and craftsmanship. The Artifact becomes a cherished possession, a symbol of discovery and wonder.
But why are Artifacts so special? What gives them their allure and fascination? One of the reasons is their history. Each Artifact has a story to tell, a tale of its origin and the people who created it. They are windows into the past, offering glimpses of different cultures, traditions, and artistic styles.
Artifacts also hold a great deal of knowledge. They teach us about the world and the people who lived in it long ago. By studying Artifacts, we can learn about ancient civilizations, their beliefs, and their ways of life. We can gain insights into their technologies, their arts, and their values. Artifacts are like time capsules, preserving the past and allowing us to connect with our ancestors.
Moreover, Artifacts have a certain magic about them. They possess an intangible quality that captivates and fascinates us. It’s as if they hold the energy and spirit of the people who once cherished them. They have the power to transport us to different times and places, evoking a sense of wonder and awe.
So next time you come across an Artifact, remember the significance that it carries. Take a moment to appreciate its beauty and contemplate the stories it holds. Let it inspire you to explore history, learn about different cultures, and embrace the wonders of the past.
So, imagine this: You’re a character in a video game and you’re on a mission to level up. Pretty cool, right? Well, in order to level up, you have to complete certain challenges and tasks. And guess what? Every time you complete one of these challenges, you earn experience points. These experience points are like little tokens of progress that help you move closer to the next level.
Now, here’s the thing: In this game, experience points aren’t the only way to level up. There’s also something called a Mastery track. This track is made up of different skills and abilities that you can learn and improve. And the cool part is that as you level up your Mastery track, you actually become stronger and more powerful in the game.
So, how do you level up your Mastery track? Well, it’s simple. Every time you complete a challenge or task that requires a specific skill or ability, you earn points towards that skill or ability. And once you earn enough points, you level up that skill or ability on your Mastery track.
But here’s the catch: you can only level up the skill or ability that you’re currently the lowest on. So if you want to level up a specific skill, you have to make sure that it’s the lowest skill on your Mastery track. And the only way to do that is by completing challenges and tasks that require that specific skill.
It’s a bit of a puzzle, right? You have to strategically plan which challenges and tasks to complete in order to level up the skills and abilities that you want. But hey, that’s part of the fun! It’s like a mini-game within the game. And the best part is that as you level up your skills and abilities, you become more powerful and unstoppable in the game.
So, the next time you’re playing a video game, remember this: leveling up isn’t just about experience points. It’s also about mastering skills and abilities. And the more you level up your Mastery track, the stronger and more powerful you become. So go out there and conquer those challenges, because the next level is waiting for you!
If you want to conduct an experiment in an online game called “Experiment World,” you’ll need to gather certain items and follow a specific process. Let me explain how it works!
First, you’ll need to collect the required materials. This can be done by exploring different areas within the game, such as forests, mountains, and caves. Keep an eye out for shiny rocks, mystical plants, and rare creatures, as they often hold valuable ingredients.
Once you’ve collected all the necessary items, you’re ready to begin your experiment. In “Experiment World,” experiments are conducted using a special device called the Experimento-Matic 5000. This device is a combination of advanced machinery and magical elements, designed to analyze and interpret the results of your experiment.
To start an experiment, you’ll need to place the required items into the Experimento-Matic 5000. The device will then start analyzing the components and providing you with insights and data. It’s like having a knowledgeable assistant right at your fingertips!
As the experiment progresses, you’ll notice the Experimento-Matic 5000 generating incomplete results. These results are represented by a series of symbols, images, and graphs. Don’t worry if it seems confusing at first – interpreting these results is part of the experiment!
Your task is to review each incomplete result and try to make sense of the patterns and correlations within them. Look for similarities, differences, and outliers. Pay attention to any recurring symbols or trends. This will help you piece together the puzzle and understand the underlying meaning of your experiment.
Experimentation is a process of trial and error. Sometimes, your first attempt may not produce the desired outcome. But this is where the game gets interesting! You can repeat the experiment, adding or removing different ingredients, adjusting the conditions, and analyzing the results again.
Remember, in “Experiment World,” there’s no single correct answer. The beauty of science is in exploring the unknown and discovering new things through curiosity and perseverance. So, embrace the mystery, have fun, and keep experimenting!
Now that you know how experiments work in “Experiment World,” what are you waiting for? Collect those materials, fire up your Experimento-Matic 5000, and let the discoveries begin!
When I play a card, I make progress towards my goals. I gain 1 gold when I place 1 material on my tracker. I need to think strategically and choose the right cards to play. Some cards are more powerful than others, and I have to take into account the resources needed to play them. Specialization cards can also be a game-changer. They give me unique abilities and help me stand out from my opponents. If I want to succeed in this game, I must understand the importance of card selection and make wise choices. And if I like the thrill of strategy games, then I’ll love this one!
When I’m playing the game, and I see a purple card with a gear symbol, I get excited. It’s like finding treasure! These cards are called Artifacts, and they are a key part of the game’s strategy and excitement.
Artifacts are special cards that, when played, can give you powerful advantages. They can help you gain more cards, protect your resources, or even attack your opponents. They are like secret weapons that can turn the tide of the game in your favor.
But how do you get Artifacts? Well, one way is to explore. As you explore the game world, you may come across hidden treasures that contain Artifacts. It’s like going on a real adventure!
Another way to get Artifacts is by trading. If you have a card that you don’t need, you can trade it with another player for an Artifact. Trading is a great way to build up your collection of Artifacts and create a powerful deck.
So, why are Artifacts so important? Well, besides the fact that they are super cool, Artifacts can really change the game. They can give you powerful abilities that your opponents don’t have. And they can help you achieve victory by giving you an edge over your opponents.
But be careful! Artifacts can also be a double-edged sword. While they can give you powerful advantages, they can also be targeted by your opponents. They may try to steal your Artifacts or destroy them. So, it’s important to protect your Artifacts and use them wisely.
In conclusion, Artifacts are a vital part of the game. They provide excitement, strategy, and powerful advantages. So, if you’re looking for an epic gaming experience, make sure to pay special attention to Artifacts. They may just be the key to victory!
When I play the game, whenever I engage in a successful action, I receive a reward. It’s a simple concept, but it can have a big impact on my overall success in the game. For example, if I manage to accomplish a certain task, I earn 5 Victory Points and receive 1 Gold as a bonus. It’s like a little wink from the game, telling me, “Well done! You’re on the right track.”
When you’re on the hunt for the perfect something, you might come across a term that leaves you scratching your head: Mastery tracks. What are they, and why should you care?
Let me break it down for you. Mastery tracks are a set of different levels or stages that measure your progress and expertise in a particular area. They act as a guide on your journey to becoming a true master.
Imagine you’re embarking on a quest to be the best musician you can be. You start at the first level of your Mastery track. This is where you’re just getting started, learning the basics and building a solid foundation.
As you continue your musical journey, putting in the practice and honing your skills, you gradually move up the Mastery track. Each step represents your growth and improvement. And guess what? You get to celebrate your achievements along the way!
But here’s the catch: moving up on a Mastery track isn’t always easy. It requires dedication, hard work, and a willingness to push yourself beyond your comfort zone.
However, the rewards are well worth the effort. Mastery tracks provide a clear roadmap for your progress, helping you stay motivated and focused. They give you a sense of accomplishment and a way to track how far you’ve come.
So, whether you’re striving to become a top-notch coder, a master chef, or a pro athlete, keep those Mastery tracks in mind. They’re the secret sauce to unlocking your full potential and taking your skills to the next level.
Hey there! Let me tell you about a cool game called Experiments. It’s a game that I can play with my friends, and it’s a lot of fun. In the game, I can take an experiment for just 1 Gold, or 2 if there are already 2 experiments in progress. Pretty cool, right?
Now, let’s talk about personality cards. Each game, I can have 1 personality card in play. These cards add some extra excitement to the game and make it even more interesting. It’s like having a special power that only I have! How awesome is that?
So, when it’s my turn to play, I can choose to take an experiment or play a personality card. It’s up to me to decide what I want to do! And the best part is, I can do this over and over again until the game ends. Talk about a double-edged sword!
But wait, there’s more! There are other factors that I need to consider when playing the game. Like, I need to think about what track I want to move up when I take an experiment. The lowest track is the one that needs the most attention, so I should focus on that one first. Plus, I need to remember to re-evaluate the lowest track after I move it up once. It’s all about strategy!
Overall, I really enjoy playing Experiments. It’s a game that keeps me on my toes and challenges me to think strategically. Plus, it’s a great way to spend time with my friends. If you’re looking for a fun and interactive game, you should definitely give Experiments a try. Trust me, you’ll love it!
Hey there! So, here’s the deal. If I find myself at the same level as you on the Earth Mastery track, then Botmegistus takes a step up not once, but twice on that track. Pretty cool, right?
But hold on, there’s a twist. If Botmegistus is already ahead of you on that track, things change. Instead of moving up, it snags 5 sweet Victory Points and pockets 3 shiny gold coins. Not too shabby, huh?
If I’m just as good or not as good as you in Water Mastery, Botmegistus will advance twice on the Water track. But if it’s already ahead of you on that track, Botmegistus will earn 5 Victory Points and move up on the Fire, Earth, and Air tracks.
If Botmegistus is at or lower than you on the Fire Mastery track, it moves up twice on the Fire track. On the other hand, if it’s already ahead of you on that track, it earns 10 Victory Points.
If Botmegistus is the same or lower than you on the Air Mastery track, it will move up twice on the Air track. However, if Botmegistus is already ahead of you on that track, then it will earn 5 Victory Points and receive 1 Artifact as a reward.
Let’s talk about obtaining an Artifact. When choosing an artifact, Botmegistus will select one that matches its current die color. Among the options, it will choose the artifact with the most elemental symbols. In case of a tie, Botmegistus will roll a regular six-sided die. If the roll is 1, 2, or 3, it will take the artifact on the left. If the roll is 4, 5, or 6, it will take the artifact on the right.
Once the choice is made, the selected artifact tile will be placed face-up near the Botmegistus tracker card.
Now, let’s discuss gaining an Experiment. Botmegistus has the capacity to hold up to 2 incomplete experiments. But if it cannot take another experiment, it will receive 1 Gold instead, as indicated on the cards.
When you’re trying to decide which experiment to choose, you need to look at the board and see which section corresponds to the symbol on your current die. There might be more than one experiment to choose from in that section, so here’s the order in which you should prioritize:
- Pick an experiment that is of a type (Earth/Fire/Water/Air) that you haven’t done yet;
- Pick an experiment that you can complete right away, even if you have to spend some gold to make up for any missing mastery. If you have multiple experiments you can complete, choose the one that is worth the most Victory Points;
- Pick the experiment that is closest to reaching the mastery requirement for Botmegistus;
- Pick the experiment with a mastery requirement that you are already exceeding, or the one that you are closest to reaching;
- Pick the experiment that is worth the most Victory Points;
- If all else fails, pick the experiment on the left side.
Advancing on the Track
If I want to move up from the lowest track and there are several tied tracks to choose from, I follow a priority order:
1. I choose the tied track that is closest to the next bonus space with a bonus token on it.
2. If there are no bonus spaces nearby, I choose the tied track that is furthest ahead of me on the same track.
3. If there are still no options, I choose the tied track that is closest behind me on the same track.
4. If there are still no options, I choose the left-most track that is valid.
If I need to move up on multiple lowest tracks, I reassess which track is the lowest after each movement.
If Botmegistus reaches a Bonus space with a Bonus token before I do, it immediately gains a benefit.
When you gain an Ethereal die token, something magical happens. It’s like a spark of energy that enters into your possession, ready to be used at just the right moment. But what exactly does it mean to gain an Ethereal die token? Let me break it down for you.
First, we need to understand what the term “Ethereal die token” refers to. You may have heard of dice before – those small, often cube-shaped objects used in games. Well, an Ethereal die token is like a special type of dice, but with a twist. It’s not a physical object that you can hold in your hand; instead, it’s a virtual token, existing only in the digital realm.
Now, let’s talk about the significance of gaining an Ethereal die token. It’s important to note that this is not something that happens by chance. You can’t just stumble upon an Ethereal die token like you would stumble upon a lucky penny on the street. No, gaining an Ethereal die token requires effort, strategy, and perhaps a bit of luck.
So, how do you gain an Ethereal die token? There are many ways to do so, depending on the context and the specific rules of the game or system you are playing. It could be awarded to you for achieving a certain goal, completing a challenging task, or outsmarting your opponents. The exact method will vary, but the common thread is that it represents a reward for your actions and a token of your success.
Once you have gained an Ethereal die token, you have a new resource at your disposal. Think of it as a metaphorical tool in your toolbox, waiting to be utilized. When the time is right, you can choose to “spend” your Ethereal die token to gain a temporary advantage, increase your chances of success, or turn the tides of the game in your favor.
Using an Ethereal die token is an art in itself. It requires careful consideration and strategy. Do you use it right away, hoping to catch your opponent off guard? Or do you save it for a crucial moment, when the stakes are high and the outcome hangs in the balance? The choice is yours, and it can make all the difference between victory and defeat.
But remember, gaining an Ethereal die token is just the beginning. It’s not the end-all-be-all of your journey. It’s a stepping stone, a symbol of your progress. There may be more Ethereal die tokens to gain, more challenges to overcome, and more victories to celebrate. So, cherish each one you acquire, appreciate the opportunities they present, and use them wisely. Who knows what wonders await you on your quest for Ethereal die tokens?
Imagine you have a special skill that helps you level up in a game. Let me explain how it works. I call it the Mastery Requirement Skill. It’s like a secret power that allows you to move up on a track in the game. The track is made up of different tasks or challenges that you need to complete. When you use your Mastery Requirement Skill, it automatically moves you up on the track, but only if you’re close to completing one of the tasks. If you have more than one task left, it will choose the one that is closest to being finished.
Let’s say you have three tasks in your track. Task A, Task B, and Task C. If you’re closest to completing Task B, using your Mastery Requirement Skill will move you up on the track, right next to Task B. But if you’re equally close to completing Task A and Task C, it will move you up next to Task A because it’s the first one on the track.
Now, what happens if you have no incomplete tasks left? In that case, your Mastery Requirement Skill will move you up to the lowest track. It’s like starting over on a new challenge, but at least you get to keep your progress.
So, the Mastery Requirement Skill is a powerful tool that helps you level up in the game. It’s all about efficiency and making the most of your efforts. By using this skill, you can make sure you’re always moving forward and getting closer to completing your tasks. It’s like having a secret weapon that keeps you motivated and focused on your goals.
If I score 5 Victory Points right away. That’s a nice boost!
Now, if I want to use the Moving up a Track action with Botmegistus, there’s something I need to keep in mind. If Botmegistus is already at the top level of the indicated track, I can’t move up any further. But don’t worry! Botmegistus will just move up a different track based on the priority list. So, there’s always a way to keep progressing.
Completing Experiments
Once I’ve performed my action, it’s time to check if I can complete any of my incomplete experiments with Botmegistus. But here’s the interesting part – when it comes to completing an experiment, I don’t need to worry about the material requirements anymore. All I need to do is meet the Mastery requirements.
If I don’t have enough of a certain requirement, no problem! I can spend 1 Gold for each level I’m short on and make up the difference. The spent Gold goes back to the supply, so it’s a win-win situation.
If possible, I can complete both experiments at once. But let’s suppose I can only complete one experiment and not the other by spending Gold. I would prioritize completing the experiment with a type (Earth/Fire/Water/Air) that I don’t have yet. If there are multiple types tied for completion, then I would choose the experiment that is worth the most Victory Points.
Whenever I complete an experiment, I don’t gain any immediate benefits other than end-game Victory Points. I tuck the completed experiment partially under my tracker card, so that I can still see the type of experiment.
Opponent Reactions Phase
You have the opportunity to react to my actions, following the normal rules. However, I do not react to your actions.
Lab Clean-up Phase
When I finish using a die and it has no more potency, I move it to the Used Die section on its tracker card. If I have three dice in the Used Dice section, it’s time to pass my turn and move my marker to the next available New Turn Order position.
Now, if any player markers, including Botmegistus’, are on or above Bonus tokens on any Mastery tracks, those Bonus tokens are no longer available.
End of the Round
It’s time to do the end-of-round cleanup for both you and the board, just as we always do.
Ethereal Die Tokens
After the first round, I’ll give Botmegistus 2 more Ethereal Die tokens, which it can use in any of the upcoming rounds. And after the second round, I’ll give Botmegistus 3 more Ethereal Die tokens.
How to Add a Specialization Card
After completing the first round, I check which elemental type I have the most symbols of. Symbols can be found on artifacts, and each completed experiment counts as one symbol. If there is a tie, I randomly select from the tied symbols.
Next, I shuffle the specialization card that matches the elemental type I have the most symbols of into the remaining cards in the Automa draw deck. I don’t mix the discarded cards into the deck at this point.
Following the completion of the second round, I add a new specialization card. I repeat the same process as before, but this time I ignore the elemental type of the card Botmegistus gained in round 1. That specialization card stays in the deck.
Changes to Final Scoring
When it comes to scoring, you calculate it as you normally would.
Hey there! Let’s talk about how scoring works in Botmegistus. It’s an amazing game, and I want to make sure you understand how to tally up your points at the end. It can be a bit tricky, but don’t worry, I’ll walk you through it.
First things first, before we calculate the final score, we need to do a few things. We’ll draw 2 random Masterpiece experiments from the deck. These experiments will be crucial for our scoring. If Botmegistus has reached the required mastery level for either of these experiments, it will complete the one with the most Victory Points. The other experiment is discarded. But here’s the twist – Botmegistus doesn’t spend any gold to meet the requirements. How cool is that?
Okay, now it’s time to calculate the score. Hold on tight, it’s about to get exciting!
Botmegistus scores in the following ways:
- First and foremost, it gets the Victory Points listed on all the completed Experiments. These points can really add up, so make sure you’ve completed lots of experiments!
- But that’s not all! Botmegistus also gets Victory Points for reaching any of the Victory Points spaces on the Mastery tracks. Keep an eye on those tracks – they’re worth some serious points!
- Now here’s where things get interesting. Botmegistus earns 3 Victory Points for each elemental symbol on its artifacts. So, the more elemental symbols you have, the better!
- And finally, Botmegistus scores 3 Victory Points for each remaining unspent Ethereal Die token it has. Those tokens can really come in handy, but don’t forget to use them wisely!
There you have it – a breakdown of how scoring works in Botmegistus. Make sure you keep all these factors in mind as you play. Remember, the more experiments you complete, the more points you’ll earn. Good luck, and have fun!
Let’s talk about the number of Formulas that can be unlocked, shall we? I’m here to break it down for you.
- First, take a look at the different types of experiments you’ve completed: earth, air, fire, and water. Each of these counts as one Formula.
- But wait, there’s more! You also have the option to spend 2 gold to increase your Formula count by 1. You can do this as many times as you can afford, up to a maximum of 7 additional Formulas.
Now that you’ve got your Formulas, you can score them using the core rules. Easy peasy!
So here’s how it works: if I have any gold left after using some to boost my Formula count, I get 1 Victory Point for each gold I have left. The goal is to beat Botmegistus’ score. If you manage to do that, you win!

- Botmegistus starts with an extra Gold during setup.
- Botmegistus starts with a random incomplete starting Experiment.
- Botmegistus begins at level 1 in all Mastery tracks (instead of level zero like you), in addition to the extra rolls.
- Rather than rolling the dice twice during setup to determine starting Mastery track advancements for Botmegistus, roll them four or more times.
- The Personality cards activate their scoring ability even if your Mastery is equal to Botmegistus’.
At the end of the game, I get to draw 3 Masterpiece experiments instead of just 2. This allows me to choose the best one for Botmegistus to try completing. And if I have enough gold, I can even spend it to complete a Masterpiece experiment. So I have more options to make the game more challenging for myself.
Here are some ways you can make the game harder:
– You can make Botmegistus the starting player, but without gaining an Ethereal die to compensate. This means I have less advantage at the beginning of the game.
– You can remove an additional white die at setup, so we play with 5 black, 4 white, and 4 red dice. This adds more difficulty in obtaining certain combinations.
– You can also choose to draw only 1 starting publication and/or 1 Masterpiece experiment at setup and play with those. This limits my choices and makes it harder for me to plan my strategy.
But if you’re looking to make the game easier, you can try these options instead:
– Start Botmegistus with one fewer Gold at setup. This reduces my ability to score Victory Points.
By following these options, you can adjust the difficulty and create a more challenging or easier experience while playing Botmegistus.
Do not worry about rolling dice at setup for starting Mastery track advancements for Botmegistus. You do not need to add a Masterpiece experiment at final scoring to Botmegistus’ Laboratory. You do not have to use Specialization cards. And you do not need to use Personality cards.
