Rules for Playing the Topple Game
Greetings! I’m here to guide you through the exciting world of the Topple Game. Are you ready? Let’s get started!
To play the Topple Game, you’ll need a game board. On this board, there are different colored shapes stacked on top of each other. Your goal is to remove as many shapes as you can without toppling the whole stack. It’s like walking on a tightrope – one wrong move, and it all comes crashing down!
Now, let me explain the rules. When it’s your turn, you have to carefully choose a shape to remove from the stack. You can only take out shapes that are at the top or on the edges of the stack. So, keep your eyes wide open and look for the most strategic move!
Once you’ve chosen a shape, you gently remove it from the stack. Be careful not to disturb the other shapes! Remember, the goal is to keep the stack balanced. If you successfully remove a shape without toppling the stack, you earn points. The more shapes you remove, the more points you get!
But hold on, there’s a catch! Some shapes are trickier than others. Some are heavier or more wobbly, making them a bit risky to remove. So, think twice before you make a move. Assess the situation, calculate the risks, and then go for it!
Another important thing to remember is that you can’t touch the stack with your hands. You have to use a special tool, like a stick or a hook, to remove the shapes. This adds an extra challenge to the game, but it also makes it more exciting!
Are you feeling ready to give it a go? Great! Put your thinking cap on, grab your tool, and let’s play the Topple Game. I promise you, it will be a thrilling adventure of skill and strategy!
So, here’s the deal: the objective of this game is to rack up the most points. And how do you do that, you ask? Simple! Just complete or add to stacks or rows of playing pieces. But hold up, there’s a twist! You need to be careful not to topple any of the other pieces. Yeah, it’s a delicate balancing act, my friend.
Getting Started
Alright, let’s get this party started! First things first, you gotta set up the playing area. Find yourself a nice, flat surface. Then, grab the stem and stick it into the base. Next, carefully balance the Topple board on top of the stem. You got that picture in your head? Good, now let’s move on.
When we play this game, we start by each picking a color. I choose one color, and you choose another. We take all the pieces of our chosen color. Then, we both roll the die. The person who rolls the highest number gets to go first. After that, we take turns going to the left.
We also need to make a score sheet for the game. On the score sheet, we write down the names of everyone who is playing. We should choose someone to keep track of the scores during the game. We should also decide how many points we need to win. For example, we could say that the winning score is 100 points.

How to Play
Hey there! Let me explain how this game works. It’s really simple, I promise.
First, we take turns rolling the die and putting our pieces on the Topple board. Each player gets to place one piece at a time.
The number on the die tells us where we can put our piece on the board. For example, if you roll a 2, you can place your piece on any of the four spots on level 2. If you roll a 1, you have to put your piece on the center spot. And if you’re lucky enough to roll a 6, you can put your piece anywhere on the board!
How to Score
Now, let’s talk about scoring. This is where things get interesting.
Every time you place a piece on the board, you earn points. The higher up you go on the board, the more points you get. Each level has a different point value.
- When you place a piece that completes a row of 5 pieces in any direction (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), you earn 3 points for completing the row. In addition, you earn 1 point for each playing piece of your color that is on top of each stack in that row. This play scores a total of 4 points.
- If you add a piece to a completed row of 5, you earn 1 point for each piece of your color that is on top of each stack in that row.
- When you add a piece to a stack that already has three or more pieces, you’ll earn one point for each piece of your color in that stack. #image.jpg If the stack is at least three pieces high, you’ll earn two points for this play.
- Keep your hands off the Topple board and any pieces already on it. That’s against the rules!
#image.jpg As a player, you score 3 points for completing the row and 1 point for each piece of your color that is on top of each stack in the row. This play scores a total of 4 points.
#image.jpg Players who add to a completed row of five pieces earn 1 point for each of their playing pieces that is on top of each stack in the row. This play scores 2 points.
Note: Did you know that you can earn multiple points by strategically placing your pieces to complete or add to more than one row, or by stacking them high enough to complete or add to a row?
The best part is that the same piece can count towards different rows or a stack and a row, earning you points for each one.
For example, you could score five points by completing two rows and adding to one stack.
Toppling
Toppling is when you accidentally knock off one or more playing pieces from a stack or the Topple board. It’s a game-changer because when a topple happens, the round ends and the player who caused the topple loses a whopping 10 points!
And here’s an interesting twist – if you accidentally topple while placing a piece on the board, the player who went before you gets a cool 3-point bonus.
Remember
If you accidentally knock the board or table and cause a Topple, even if it’s not your turn, you’ll lose 10 points. So be careful! Keep an eye out for multiple scoring opportunities to maximize your points. Happy playing!
The End of the Game
When a TOPPLE happens or all the pieces are played, the round comes to a close. If no Topple has occurred, the pieces are taken off the board but the game continues with scoring and playing.
Even if you reach the required number of points in a round, the game isn’t finished until all the pieces have been played or a Topple happens.
If more than one person reaches the required number of points, the player with the highest total points wins.
Two-player Version
In this version, each player chooses two colors and scores them separately. For example, if you have pink and yellow, and you decide to play a pink piece for scoring, you earn points for all the pink pieces scored in that move.
You can choose which color you want to play at any time.
