When you play with the Buzzer Case, you can hold it in your hand and easily see the top card through the window on the case. That way, only you can read it, and the other players can’t cheat.

The Tongue-Two-Second Timer has a thumbprint on it for easier buzzing. The card has six Tip of the Tongue trivia questions. The correct answer for each question is in bold after the question.

To start the game, begin with question #1 and ask the player to your left. Keep going in order around the circle, asking each player a question from the card. If there are more than six players, you’ll need to move on to the next card in the Buzzer Case so everyone gets a turn.

After you’ve read all the questions on a card, you can set it aside and make a discard pile.

What is the Buzzer?

When you ask me a question, I quickly press the Tongue-Two-Second Timer. You have to give me the correct answer before the buzzer goes off.

To get a point, you have to finish your answer before the buzzer stops buzzing (if there’s a disagreement about the timing, the majority gets to decide, and the scorekeeper breaks any ties).

You only get to give one answer. If your answer is right, I’ll mark a “1” next to your name for Round 1. But if your answer is wrong, I’ll tell you the right answer, and you’ll get a “0” for the round.

After that, I’ll start asking Question #2 to the next player, and the cycle continues until everyone has answered one question and Round 1 is done.

Rounds: The Game’s Rotation

In each round of the game, a new reader is chosen from the players. The reader for the first round is the player on the left of the current reader, and they become the scorekeeper. This rotation continues until the game reaches the predetermined number of rounds, which varies based on the number of players.

• If there are 2-3 players, each player will have 6 rounds
• If there are 4 players, each player will have 8 rounds
• If there are 5 players, each player will have 5 rounds
• If there are 6 players, each player will have 6 rounds
• If there are 7 players, each player will have 7 rounds
• If there are 8 players, each player will have 8 rounds

By the end of the game, every player should have been the reader for the same number of rounds.

End of the Game: Wrapping It Up

After completing the predetermined number of rounds, it’s time to tally up the points and determine the winner of Tip of the Tongue trivia. The scorekeeper for the final round adds up the points for each player, and the one with the highest score emerges victorious!

Getting Ready for Round Two

Once the game is finished, gather all the cards from the discard pile. Flip them over so that the colorful sides are facing up, ready to be read again. Slot them behind the stack of cards in the top section of the Buzzer Case. This way, when they are cycled through, the questions on the other side will be asked. Once both sides of deck #1 have been used up, grab deck #2 from the storage area and repeat the process.
