When you play this game, there are actually two or three different competitions happening at the same time. And each competition has its own way of scoring points. The interesting thing is that you actually want to lose points in this game! You play five rounds or keep playing until one player reaches a score of zero in one of the competitions.

But it’s not about who can reach zero the fastest. It’s about finding the perfect balance between the different goals.

At the end of the game, your score will be based on your highest-scoring competition. And the player with the lowest final score is the winner.

Setting Up the Game

The Game Boards

Now, let’s talk about how to set up for the competitions. In the standard game, you have two competitions, but you can also choose to play with three if you want to. Each competition has its own board and pieces.

Hey there! Let’s have some fun and choose two competitions to play. You can leave the third one for later, or if you’re feeling adventurous, play all three at the same time (as long as everyone knows the rules). To start, we suggest trying out the election and society competitions.

Now, it’s time to set up the game boards. Take a look at the diagram below to see how it’s done. The boards are double-sided, so choose the side based on the number of players.

Setting Up the Central Board

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! If you’re ready for some fun competition, let me show you how to set up the game. Grab the side with the icon for a standard, 2-competition game. The other side is for 3 competitions.

First, let’s get the game board ready. Take the round counter, the renaissance man tile, and the bonus action tiles and place them on the board, just like in the picture below. In a standard game, you’ll need 4 bonus action tiles, with 2 from each competition. If you’re playing with all 3 competitions, then you’ll use all 6 tiles.

Now it’s time for the Central Cards!

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Out of all these cards, you need to pick the five most important ones. There’s a specific set for each type of competition.

Mix up the two central cards with white borders and put them face down on the board. Then, mix up the three central cards with black borders and place them on top of the white-bordered cards.

This is the only deck that goes on the board. At the start of each round, the top card will be shown. You can flip over the first card right now.

Cards

Hey there! Let me tell you about the cards in each competition. We’ve got two decks, and each deck is split into two sets. Take the set with two icons on the back and give it a good shuffle. Place these cards face down near the matching board.

Next, take the set with just one icon on the back and place it on top. At the start of every round, some new cards will be dealt. The cards with a single icon will come into play first, followed by the cards with double icons.

Tiles

Now, let’s talk about the tiles in the election and possessions competitions. The tiles work the same way as the cards. We’ll split the stack of tiles into two sets. Give the set with double icons a good mix and stack them facedown near the appropriate board. Then, mix up the set with single icons and stack them on top.

Just like with the cards, new tiles will be dealt at the start of each round. First, the tiles with a single icon will come into play, and then the tiles with double icons will make their appearance.

Player Setup

Alright, now that we’ve got the cards and tiles all set up, let’s talk about getting you ready to play. It’s important to know that each player will have their own turn, so make sure you’re paying attention!

When it comes to setting up the game, your approach will differ depending on how many players are involved. To make things easier for you, refer to the table at the end of this page for a handy reference.

Preparing Player Boards and Characters

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

So, here’s what you do: you start by picking a color and grabbing a player board and some errand boys that match that color. The number of errand boys you get depends on how many people are playing. Check the table below to see how many you need. If you’re playing with three people, grab an extra errand boy. And hey, if you end up with some extras, just put them back in the box for now.

Getting Ready for the Possessions Competition

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let’s talk about money in the possessions competition. You know, the one where you can win some cool stuff?

So, here’s the deal: the table below shows how many pounds you gotta take. Pretty simple, right?

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Let me tell you how to get started in the game. You’ll need possession tiles, labelled A, B, C, D, or E. Just give each player a random set of tiles.

In a game with five players, each player should get rid of one of the tiles that has a base value of 5 pounds. But if there are fewer than five players, you’ll use all six tiles.

Getting Ready for the Election Competition

Now let’s set up the players for the election competition. Each player needs to place their vote counter on the election scoreboard. The table below will tell you how many votes each player starts with.

Additionally, each player starts with a political circle tile. The back of the tile has no icon. Each player should choose one randomly and place it face up next to their player board.

Getting Ready for the Society Competition

Hey there! Let me tell you about this cool game called society. In this game, each player has their own scoreboard and markers to keep track of their influence. Check out the table on the right to see where the markers go. It’s totally up to you whether you want your markers to be cheerful or cross, but keep in mind that we’re in Victorian England, so the gender of the markers does matter. Pretty neat, huh?

How to Decide the Order of Play in a Game!

So, you’re getting ready to play a game, but there’s one important question: who goes first? Let’s figure that out together!

We need to randomly determine the play order, so it’s fair for everyone. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Gather all the players around the game board.
  2. Take the order markers and place them on the numbered spaces in the middle of the central board.

This step is crucial because it ensures that the order is truly random – adding an element of excitement and unpredictability to the game. You never know who will get to take the first turn!

By following these simple steps, you can start the game off on the right foot. Have fun and may the best player win!

Get a Head Start

Being the first to go has its advantages. But to make things fair, those who start earlier have to take on a handicap in one or more competitions before the first round begins:

  1. Possessions: Take an extra 1-pound coin.
  2. Election: Gain 1 vote.
  3. Society: Move the rightmost influence marker up by one space.

The player who goes last doesn’t have to take a handicap. The second-to-last player, on the other hand, must take 1 handicap. And if someone is playing before two fellow players, they’ll have to take 2 handicaps, and so on. Handicaps are taken in the order mentioned above: take the coin, gain a vote, move up in society.

Once everyone has taken their handicaps, it’s time to kick off the first round.

How the Game Unfolds

The Prodigals Club is played over 5 rounds. However, the game can end sooner if someone reaches zero in any of the competitions.

The round has a few phases, but there are two phases that are specific to certain competitions. Let me break it down for you:

1. Setup: At the start of every round, each board has its own setup. You can see how the boards are set up on page 2, but there are a few steps missing:

– Dealing Cards: First, the cards need to be dealt.

2. Errands: This phase is common to all competitions. During this phase, players carry out various errands.

3. Actions: After the errands are completed, the actions phase begins. Here, players take actions based on the choices they made during the errands phase.

4. Hyde Park (election competition only): If you’re playing the election competition, there is an additional phase called Hyde Park. This phase involves activities specific to the election competition.

5. Dame Beatrice (society competition only): For the society competition, there is a phase called Dame Beatrice. In this phase, players engage in society-related activities.

6. End of Round: Finally, we reach the end of the round. This is when players wrap up and prepare for the next round.

Remember, each competition has its own unique phases, so make sure to follow the instructions for the specific competition you’re playing. Have fun!

When you play the game, each board has spaces that require cards. The spaces on the board show how many cards you need and what type of cards they are.

Let me give you an example. This particular space requires 2 white-bordered cards and 1 black-bordered card. The cards are placed face up on the board. If you place the black-bordered card on top, you can arrange the cards neatly so that all the icons are visible to everyone playing the game.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let me tell you about this cool space that changes in each round of the game. In rounds 1, 2, and 3, it’s a black-bordered card, and in rounds 4 and 5, it becomes a white-bordered card. Isn’t that neat?

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

This is the fifth round, and here’s something different – no cards for you this time! Instead, there are two rewards waiting for you to discover. Exciting, isn’t it?

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let’s get started, shall we?

First things first, flip over the card in the middle of the board. Keep in mind that the card will change every round.

Getting the Tiles

Every game has its own special set of tiles.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you’re playing the game, I’ll give you four possession tiles and you’ll put them on these four spots on the side of the board.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

You know what’s really interesting? The election competition! It’s this cool game where you get to be in a political race. And do you want to know something even cooler? You get to deal four political circle tiles to these four spaces that look like this:

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

In our society’s competitive landscape, the spotlight is on Dame Beatrice. Put her on the designated space to symbolize her ranking.

2. Run Errands

As a player, you have a group of errand boys represented by small top hat figures. The number of these errand boys varies based on the number of players and the specific competition, whether it’s a 2 or 3 player game.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let’s talk about errand boys. They can be pretty useful in the game, you know? Sometimes when you send an errand boy, you get cards that come in handy during the actions phase. Other times, sending an errand boy has an immediate effect on your score in one of the three competitions. If you want more details about the effects of each space, just keep reading!

Once a space is taken by an errand boy, no other errand boy can be placed there in that round. That’s why it’s an advantage to go first. So, make sure to grab the spot you want before someone else takes it, okay?

When it’s your turn, you have to place an errand boy. It’s usually allowed to choose an errand that you can’t or won’t use, but on the possessions game board, things work a little differently. If you pick an errand that offers you a chance to sell or exchange, you have to actually sell or exchange at least one possession. Just a heads up!

Taking Cards with 2 or 3 Players

So, here’s the deal – on each board, there are different sets of cards up for grabs. And get this, in a game with 4 or 5 players, there’s a spot for each set. But in a game with only 2 or 3 players, there’s one less spot. Here’s the drill: you can snag any set by playing your choice of errand boy on an empty card-taking spot. And guess what? You can even take more than one set at a time. But listen up, once all the card-taking spots are filled, that’s it – no more snatching sets.

Once everyone has put all their errand boys in play and finished their tasks, it’s action time. Here’s how it goes:

3. Actions

Following the order displayed on the central board, each player takes their turn to play actions. These actions are represented by cards – you can play as many as you want, in any order you fancy. But there’s a catch – you can only keep a limited number of cards for future rounds. At the end of the round, you have to get rid of cards until you have only 4 left.

White-bordered Cards

Hey there! Let me explain the difference between white-bordered cards and black-bordered cards in the game. It’s pretty important to know!

White-bordered Cards

White-bordered cards are like one-time events. When you play a white-bordered card, you have to do what it says. But remember, all the white-bordered cards you play will be discarded at the end of the round. Don’t worry though, you can keep them in front of you as you play them. Some effects might refer to cards you’ve played earlier in the round.

Black-bordered Cards

Black-bordered cards are a little different. You can use them multiple times during the game. When you want to play a black-bordered card, just place it on your player board. But watch out, you only have room for six black-bordered cards on your board.

If all six spaces are full, you’ll need to get rid of one of your previously played cards to make space for the new one. It’s totally up to you which card you want to get rid of, even if you’ve already used it this round.

Here’s the cool thing about black-bordered cards: they don’t actually do anything when you play them. Instead, they have abilities that you can use whenever you want. Some cards might have one type of ability, others might have another type. It all depends on what’s on the card!

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you look at a card, there’s something important to notice – the abilities. You’ll find them in two places on the card: the upper right corner and the bottom half.

The ability in the upper right corner is a special action that you can use once every round during your turn. It’s like a special power that gives you an advantage.

But the ability in the bottom half of your card is different. It’s a permanent bonus that is always active. You don’t have to do anything to activate it. Instead, it triggers automatically when certain conditions are met, adding a special boost to your gameplay.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! If you want to use the ability on the card in the top right corner, just slide the card down and do what it shows. Once you’ve done that, the card has been used and you can’t use it again this round.

You can use a black-bordered card right after you play it, but it’s up to you if you want to or not. If the card also has a picture of something happening at the bottom, you get that bonus whether you use the card or not. You can get the bonus multiple times in the same round.

Get Some Extra Actions

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

I bet you got yourself a bonus action tile from that fancy board over there. Well, let me tell you, you can use that bonus action during the actions phase. Just do what the tile says and then put it back in its place on the central board. Oh, and don’t forget, if you don’t use the tile, you gotta return it at the end of the round.

What Happens After the Actions Phase

Hold on tight because there’s more fun coming your way! Depending on how many competitions are in the game, there might be one or two extra phases before the round is over. Let me break it down for you.

The Scoop on the Central Board

Snagging the Central Card

Every round, you’ll find a different special card on the central board. This card is a big deal because it ties all the competitions together.

If you’re playing with all 3 competitions, snagging that card is just like any other errand space. Just send your errand boy over there, grab the card, and keep it. But remember, don’t reveal a new card until the next round!

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When I play in only 2 competitions, I have to use an extra errand boy to temporarily hold the central card. To get the card, I have to send two errand boys instead of just one.

Once everyone else is using their last errand boys, they will skip me. But that doesn’t mean I miss out on my turn. When everyone has used up all their errand boys, I get to take back one of the ones I sent to the central card and play it somewhere else.

Securing a Spot in the Order

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

If you want to secure your spot in the play order for the next round, send someone over here to reserve it. Please note that your new position won’t take effect until the current round ends, which is explained on page 10. Starting the game with the first turn is advantageous, but in later rounds, you may prefer going last if you’re considering ending the game. Being the last player can also be beneficial in Hyde Park.

When you choose to play here, you also get to select one of the available bonus action tiles. These tiles often have special actions that you can use during your turn.

There are a total of 2 bonus action tiles for each competition, and you can find the actions they offer on the back page. Remember that all bonus action tiles must be returned to the board at the end of the round.

Guess what? You can grab a spot, no matter how few are left. It’s totally cool to join the game on round 5 and snag a bonus action tile. But hold up! Make sure you stick to the numbers that actually matter in your game. For instance, in a 3-player game, only the first 3 numbers count. Oh, and one more thing – no double-dipping! You can’t play in the same spot twice in one round. Keep it fair and square, my friend.

The Jack-of-All-Trades Tile

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Ready to dive into the world of the Renaissance? Well, get ready, because I’ve got something special for you – the Renaissance Man tile! This little beauty is going to give you not one, but two symbols to play with this round. And trust me, these symbols are going to be your secret weapons!

Now, here’s the cool part – you can mix and match these symbols however you like. They can be the same or different, totally up to you. The sky’s the limit, my friend!

But hold on a minute – once you’ve chosen your symbols, you can’t change them. So choose wisely, because those babies are yours for the rest of the round. And let me tell you, they’re going to come in handy!

Now, here’s the part where I have to burst your bubble a little. You’ve got to return that Renaissance Man tile to the central board when the round is over. Yeah, I know, it’s a bit of a bummer, but rules are rules, right?

Now, let’s talk about these Common Symbols

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let’s talk about these symbols that you’ll find in all three competitions. They play a big role in the game, so it’s important to understand how they work.

The first way to get symbols is by taking the renaissance man tile. It will give you 2 symbols, which can really come in handy.

Each competition also has its own way of giving out symbols. We’ll go over that in detail later on. But the cool thing is, the symbols you earn in one competition can also be used in the others. So they’re kind of like a currency that can be used anywhere.

Possessions Competition

In this competition, it’s all about getting rid of your stuff. It might sound strange, but trust me, it’s the way to win! The more stuff you have, the harder it is to become a true prodigal. But with some clever trades, even someone as wealthy as you can live like a pauper.

Goal

Welcome to this competition where the goal is to part ways with your money and belongings. Your overall score will be determined by the sum of your money and possessions, with one catch – for each possession you hold onto at the end, you’ll be penalized 3 pounds.

Money

At the start of the game, you’ll be given a specific amount of money as indicated on page 3. As you sell your possessions, you’ll earn more money. Thankfully, there are numerous ways to spend your money throughout the game. However, each expenditure results in nothing more than the satisfaction of reducing your score in this competition.

Possession Tiles

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you first start playing, you’ll get a set of possession tiles. These tiles are labeled A, B, C, D, or E, and each one has a symbol in the top left corner.

The coin in the middle shows how much the possession is worth. On the top right corner, there is a shield that tells you which borough the possession belongs to.

Understanding the Borough Indicator

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When the game starts, I place the indicator in a borough chosen randomly. As each round ends, I rotate the indicator one space clockwise.

If you sell something from the borough indicated, you get 1 pound less. But the indicator doesn’t matter when you’re exchanging possessions.

Trading

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Let me explain how this works. We’re going to trade one of our things for something on the board. The idea is to get something that’s worth less than what we’re giving. But there’s a catch! If there’s a limit, and we go over it, we have to take some money to make up for it.

Here’s an example. The rule says we can’t go more than 3 below the limit. Let’s say we trade a thing worth 6 for a thing worth 1. We’re losing 5 points, which is more than the limit. So we have to take 2 pounds from the bank to make up for it.

The borough symbol doesn’t matter in trades.

There will always be 4 things on the board. If we trade later, some of them might be things from other players. But at the end of the round, all the things on the board go away.

Sell

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Having things can be helpful, but eventually, you’ll want to let go of them.

When you decide to sell something, simply choose one of your possessions and put it in the discard pile. In return, you’ll receive coins based on the value shown on the tile, minus any discounts. Remember, if you’re selling something from the borough indicated on the tile, you’ll get an extra -1 discount.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! I’d like to tell you about some cool stuff you can do when selling items. There are certain actions and abilities that let you sell things at a lower price. All you have to do is subtract the specified amount from the original sale price. The best part is, you can combine these discounts, so they add up!

Now, here’s something interesting. If these discounts bring the value of an item down to zero or less, then its value becomes zero. And guess what? You won’t even have to pay the bank anything when you sell it. Pretty neat, huh?

Here’s another thing you should know. Some of these actions and errands let you sell not just one, but two items at the same time. That’s right, you can get rid of two possessions in one go! And if there’s a discount involved, it applies to both sales. But don’t worry, the second sale is totally optional. If you’d rather sell only one item, that’s totally up to you.

Spend Your Money Wisely

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you take this action, it means you are spending the exact amount of money shown. Just give those coins to the bank. If you don’t have enough money, spend all that you have. But remember, you can’t borrow money unless you get rid of everything you own.

Extra Time

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let me break it down for you. These cards on their own don’t really do much. But, if there’s a specific action you’re focusing on, you can use these cards to make it even better!

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you use symbols, they disappear right after. This card only applies to the action it was used for.

Running Errands in the Competition for Possessions

The errands that involve exchanging and selling possessions have already been explained. If you choose an errand that allows you to exchange or sell, you have to exchange or sell at least one possession. Specifically, if you get rid of all your possessions, you won’t be able to select these errands anymore.

The other spaces for errands have the following effects:

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! I want to share something important with you. So, I found this cool space that has a special ability. It lets you either exchange some stuff with a limit of -2, or you can sell twice without any special discount. Pretty cool, right? Now, the catch is that you can only pick one of these options, and you’ll have to ignore the other. Oh, and just a heads up, this special space doesn’t work in a game with only two players. So, keep that in mind when you’re planning your moves. Good luck!

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

So here’s the deal: you can spend 1 pound to play here, and if you’ve got any A Little More Time cards, you can spend an extra pound for each one you play. When you send your errand boy to this spot, they go right on the space that matches your color. Now, just a heads up, once you play here, you can’t play here again until the round is over. And listen, playing here doesn’t stop anyone else from using this spot, so keep that in mind.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Are you ready to play a card game? All you have to do is click here to get your set of cards. This game can be played with two or three players, and you can choose any space to take a set of cards!

Competition in the Elections

So, in this district, we have some pretty honorable voters. But here’s the thing – when someone buys their vote, they tend to keep that vote. And let me tell you, your father has already spent a lot of money on this election. If we want to win, we need to be really careful about how we handle things. We can’t afford any mistakes!

How Scoring Works

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let’s talk about the election scoreboard and how it works. This cool feature keeps track of the number of votes you currently have. To start, take a look at the setup table above to see the initial number of votes you have. Now, here’s where things get interesting – the goal in this competition is actually to lose votes. Yes, you heard that right! The more votes you lose, the better you’re doing!

Political Circle Tiles

Now, let’s dive into how you can earn symbols in the election competition. You can do this by getting involved in certain political circles. These circles are represented by a grid of tiles, and these tiles can come in all sorts of shapes. At the beginning of the game, you only have one tile on your grid. However, this single tile doesn’t give you any symbols on its own. You have to earn symbols by completing the circles.

So, how do you get more tiles? Well, it’s simple – by choosing specific errands. When you choose these errands, you’ll be able to place a new tile on your grid, right next to one or more of the tiles you already have. Just remember, the adjacent edges of the tiles must match.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

  • When two symbols are the same, they match each other.
  • A question mark (?) matches any symbol, except another question mark.
  • An edge with no symbol only matches another edge with no symbol.

If you have a tile that cannot fit into your grid, you have to get rid of it. You can also choose to discard a new tile. But you cannot discard a tile that you have already placed in your grid.

When you make a match, either with the same symbol or with a question mark, you become a member of that political circle. You will then have 1 symbol of that type. (Matching a blank edge to another blank edge is allowed, but it doesn’t give you any symbols).

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you create a 2 x 2 square, you become part of the inner circle, gaining newfound political power that comes with immediate benefits.

Now, here’s where the fun begins – it’s time to make some choices. You get to pick 2 of the following:

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you play this game, you have the freedom to select the same thing twice or two different things. And each time you have four corners that meet, congratulations! You’ve joined a new inner circle. Let me give you an example: imagine a rectangle that has a size of 3 x 2. In this case, you would have two inner circles.

One Less Vote

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! I wanted to talk to you about this cool icon I found. It’s like a little warning sign that says you lose 1 vote if you see it. So, if something you do has this icon, just remember to subtract 1 from your vote counter. Simple as that!

What about megaphones?

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let’s talk about megaphones in Hyde Park, a special phase that happens once per round. It’s a pretty neat thing, let me tell you!

So, during the Hyde Park phase, you’ll want to keep track of all the megaphones you’ve collected throughout the round. These megaphones can come from errand boys on the game board, the megaphone bonus action tile, or certain cards.

If you happen to play a white card that has megaphones on it, make sure to leave it face up in front of you until the end of the Hyde Park phase. That way, the megaphones on that card will be counted.

Now, here’s the thing – you can’t add any more megaphones during the Hyde Park phase. You’ve got to work with what you’ve already earned from your errand boys, your cards, and the bonus action tile. But here’s a cool advantage for the last player: they get to see how many megaphones everyone else has played before deciding which cards to play in the actions phase. Pretty smart, huh?

Errands In The Election Competition

Hey there! Let’s dive right in and talk about an interesting game mechanic known as “losing votes.” Losing votes can be a tricky concept to grasp, but don’t worry—I’ve got you covered!

So, picture this: you’re playing a game and you have the errand boy figure. Now, you want to lose 1 vote. Here’s what you do: simply place the errand boy figure on the space that matches your color. Easy-peasy, right?

Now, here’s the important part: once you’ve done this, you can’t play in that same spot again for the rest of the round. But—and this is crucial—your move doesn’t stop others from doing the same action. It’s kind of like a one-time thing, you know?

So, in a nutshell, losing votes may seem a bit puzzling at first, but it’s actually a cool way to spice up the game. It adds a layer of strategy and choice, as you have to think carefully about when to use this action. Plus, it keeps things interesting by mixing up the gameplay and creating some unexpected twists.

That pretty much sums it up! Now that you have a good grasp of losing votes, you’re ready to dive into the game and have an awesome time. Enjoy!

Hey there, let’s play a little game! Here’s what you have to do: I’m going to give you two options, and you need to pick one. But here’s the catch – when you choose, you’ll lose one vote. Don’t worry, though, because you also get to place the tile you choose in your grid right away. Pretty cool, right?

Remember, you can only keep one tile, so if you don’t like either of them, you can discard both. It’s entirely up to you!

Hey there! Ready to dive into the fun world of card games? Let’s get started!

When you play this game, you’ll be dealing with a deck of cards. If you’re playing with two or three players, you can take any set of cards from any available space.

But here’s the exciting part! Two of the card sets come with a special political circle tile. If you happen to grab those sets, you also get to claim the tile. You have two options here – either place it directly onto your grid or simply toss it aside.

So, are you ready to embrace the thrill of the game? Go ahead and give it a shot!

In the fifth round, instead of the usual black card, there is now a new choice available. This choice involves losing a vote and gaining a megaphone. It is always related to politics and comes in the form of a circle tile.

Two Political Perspectives

When it comes to socializing, some actions can unintentionally offend others. In today’s society, it’s important to take these factors into account and ensure we treat others with respect and consideration. One such occasion where this can be a challenge is when treating someone at a pub. So, if you find yourself in this situation, let me give you some tips to navigate it gracefully.

1. Offer to Pay

When you invite someone out for a drink, it’s customary to offer to pay for their drink as well. This gesture shows that you value their company and want to treat them. However, it’s important to ask if they would like to contribute or split the bill. Not everyone may feel comfortable accepting your invitation without offering to chip in.

2. Be Mindful of Drinking Pace

Drinking at a pub often involves alcohol, and everyone has their own pace. It’s essential to be aware of how quickly or slowly your companion is drinking and try to match their pace. It can be awkward if one person finishes their drink while the other is only halfway through. So, make sure to sip and savor your drink to keep the conversation flowing smoothly.

3. Engage in Active Listening

When someone is sharing a story or expressing their thoughts, it’s crucial to listen actively. Show genuine interest by maintaining eye contact, nodding, and asking relevant questions. Avoid interrupting or dominating the conversation. Remember, a meaningful conversation involves an equal exchange of ideas and experiences.

4. Respect Personal Space

While at the pub, it’s essential to respect personal space. Allow your companion enough room to feel comfortable and don’t invade their personal bubble. Be aware of your body language and keep physical contact minimal unless you have a close relationship. The pub should be a place where everyone can relax and enjoy themselves without feeling crowded or uncomfortable.

5. Know Your Limits

Drinking responsibly is paramount. It’s important to know your limits and be mindful of how alcohol affects you. Pace yourself and avoid excessive drinking, as it can lead to impaired judgment and inappropriate behavior. Being aware of your own alcohol consumption sets a positive example and ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

By following these guidelines, you can navigate treating someone at the pub with grace and consideration. Remember that the goal is to create a pleasant and comfortable environment where everyone can enjoy each other’s company. So go ahead, invite a friend for a drink, and make it an enjoyable experience for both of you!

I remember hearing about some changes in voting rules recently that were supposed to prevent people from bribing voters directly. It’s a shame that some districts still cling to the old tradition of buying loyalty at the local pub. It seems that up to four of these cards can be used at once.

Each card represents more free beer for your loyal supporters. To make them think twice about their allegiance, you’ve added a little extra to the beer.

If you play multiple cards, you’ll lose the number of votes indicated on each card. For example, if you played three “Treating at the Pub” cards, you’d lose a total of 6 votes.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

If you have this card on your player board, you’ll get a bonus whenever you Treat at the Pub.

For example, if you have three Treating at the Pub cards, you’ll lose 12 votes. That’s 6 votes for the standard effect, and 2 votes for each card played.

4. Hyde Park Phase

When it’s time for the election competition, the round ends with a big speech in Hyde Park. The goal of the speech is to lose as many votes as possible. But here’s the twist: your fellow prodigals are all trying to do the same thing, so it becomes a competition to see who can be the loudest.

Hey there! Guess what? I’ve got some exciting news for you! There are certain errands and actions that you’ve done that have earned you megaphones. So cool, right? Now, the next step is to count up all the megaphones you’ve earned this time around. How awesome is that?

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

If you’re looking to gain an advantage in the game, I’ve got some great insight for you. You see, in this game, there’s a special reward for players who tie for the fewest number of megaphones. It may not be first place, but it’s definitely worth something.

Let me explain how it works. The rewards in each round are determined by the round marker on the central board. So make sure you set up the game board correctly to know what rewards are up for grabs.

Now, let’s talk about the relative obstreperousness of the other players. The player with the most megaphones is going to face the biggest consequence – a loss of votes. And it doesn’t stop there. The rest of the players will also face consequences, just not as severe. If there are multiple players tied for the most megaphones, they’ll all get the same consequence. But don’t worry, ties won’t affect the order of players below them.

For example, let’s say we have four players: Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green. They’ve all earned 2 megaphones this round, which means they’re tied for the fewest. In this case, they’ll all gain 1 vote. No one will lose any votes.

So, keep this strategy in mind as you navigate the game. It’s not always about being first, sometimes tying for last can bring its own rewards.

Example 2: In this scenario, there are four players: Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green. Red and Yellow each have four megaphones, Blue has three, and Green has one. Now, let’s move on to round four, as displayed in the picture above. Green has the fewest megaphones, so she gains one vote. On the other hand, Red and Yellow are tied for first place, which means they both lose four votes. Lastly, Blue takes the third spot and loses one vote.

Society Competition

Imagine that you are highly regarded by four of the most influential people in society. However, your standing can be altered if you engage in some improper behavior.

Scoring

In this competition, we keep track of our score by shifting 4 influence markers on our scoreboard. It’s a way to measure the impact we have.

The total influence is determined by adding up the numbers beneath the markers. The objective of the competition is to decrease our social influence.

Shifting the Markers

Actions and errands show us how we can move our influence markers. Certain icons indicate a specific color, while others allow us to move any of our markers. However, we can only move our markers into empty spaces.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let’s talk about something really cool: the impact of moving an influence marker down. It’s a simple action, but it can actually make a big difference! So let me explain why it’s important and what it means.

When I move an influence marker down, it’s like I’m taking a step back and reevaluating my choices. I’m considering different perspectives and trying to understand the bigger picture. It’s a moment of reflection and growth.

Think about it this way: imagine you’re playing a game and you have the power to influence the outcome. By moving the marker down, you’re acknowledging that your opinions and actions have consequences. It’s about recognizing your role in shaping the world around you.

But here’s the thing: moving the influence marker down isn’t just about you. It’s also about listening to others and being open to new ideas. It’s about recognizing that everyone’s voice matters and that we can learn from each other.

When you move that marker down, you’re not just elevating your own thoughts and opinions; you’re also opening yourself up to the possibility of change and growth. It’s a way to regenerate your response and to create a space for dialogue and understanding.

So next time you have the chance to move that influence marker down, don’t hesitate. See it as an opportunity to expand your horizons and to connect with others in a deeper and more meaningful way.

Remember, it’s not just about moving a marker on a board. It’s about embracing the power of perspective and the importance of empathy. By taking that step back, you’re not just playing a game – you’re actively participating in the world around you.

When playing the game, I have to make a move by taking one of the markers and moving it diagonally down into the next row. I get to choose whether to move the marker diagonally left or diagonally right. It’s up to me to decide which direction will give me the best advantage.

However, if a move would take a marker off the board, I cannot use that move at all. I need to be careful not to make a move that would result in losing a marker.

In general, the icons on the board indicate that I can move a marker to an empty space that is adjacent to it. The icons show the possible directions I can choose from. I just have to make sure that the space I move to is not occupied by another marker.

I’m sure you’ve seen some examples of movements before. They’re a type of action that people do. But have you ever wondered what exactly makes a movement important? Well, let me tell you about some key factors that you should keep in mind when trying to understand the significance of a movement.

First off, a movement is not just any old action. It’s something that people do together, usually with a shared goal in mind. So when you see a movement happening, you can be sure that it’s something that a group of people believes is really important.

But what exactly makes a movement important? One key factor is the impact it has on society. Movements often aim to bring about change, to make things better for people. They can advocate for equal rights, fight against injustice, or raise awareness about important issues.

Another important aspect of movements is the way they bring people together. They create a sense of community, a feeling of belonging. When I watch a movement in action, it’s really inspiring to see how people from all walks of life can come together for a common cause.

Finally, movements can have a lasting impact. They can shape the course of history, influencing the way people think and act. Think about some of the movements you’ve heard of – like the civil rights movement or the women’s suffrage movement. These are just a few examples of movements that have had a profound impact on society.

So, next time you see a movement in action, take a moment to think about what makes it important. Consider the impact it has, the sense of community it creates, and the lasting legacy it leaves behind. Movements are truly remarkable things, and by understanding their significance, we can appreciate the power they have to bring about change.

Now, let’s turn to the back page to learn more about different types of movements. It’s always fascinating to explore the rich diversity of human action!

When you see multiple moves shown in the instructions, remember that you perform them one by one, always into empty spaces. You can choose to move one influence marker at a time or move multiple influence markers, and you can do so in any order you like. You don’t have to use all of your moves, and you’re not even obligated to use any of them.

Understanding the Symbols on the Scoreboard

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When playing the society competition, you’ll notice that certain spaces on the scoreboard are marked with symbols. These symbols are yours as long as you have a marker on that space. Deciding which space to move onto and how long to keep your marker there is a key strategic element of the game.

It’s important to note that if an action allows you to make multiple moves, you cannot interrupt that action to perform a new one. For example, if a card allows you to make two moves in a straight line, you cannot make one move onto a space with a dog symbol, play a card that requires dog symbols, and then use the second move.

However, you can use one card to move onto a space with a dog symbol, play several cards that require dog symbols, and then use another card to move off the symbol.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you use a card like this, start by counting how many symbols you have. Then, you will make that exact number of moves. It’s important to note that once you count the symbols, the number of moves will not change based on how you use them. If a card provides you with moves and something else that relies on symbols, be sure to count your symbols before making any moves.

Participating in the Society Competition

If you’re searching for errand spaces, you’ve come to the right place! Let me show you how these spaces can benefit you.

At some errand spaces, they offer something special called moves. Moves are awesome because they make your life easier. With moves, you can get things done more quickly and efficiently. Plus, they can save you a ton of time and energy.

Imagine this: you have a long list of tasks and you’re feeling overwhelmed. But with moves, you can tackle those tasks with ease. They help you to be more organized, so you know exactly what needs to get done. And the best part is, you can do it all in one place.

With moves, you can stay on top of your game. They keep you informed and up to date with important information. And if something changes, you’ll be the first to know. No more guessing or second-guessing.

Moves are like a secret weapon. They give you an advantage in the fast-paced world we live in. With moves, you won’t miss a beat. You’ll be ahead of the game and ready for anything that comes your way.

So, if you’re looking for a way to stay organized and get things done, moves are the answer. Don’t wait any longer – start using moves today and see the amazing difference they can make in your life.

When I get this task, I can move my figure down one space. I place my figure on the space that matches my color. I can’t use this action again in the same round, but my play doesn’t stop others from using it.

Hey there! Want to play a game? Grab a set of cards and let’s get started. If you’re playing with two or three players, remember that any vacant space on the table lets you choose any set that’s still available.

The advantage of this place becomes apparent during the Dame Beatrice phase. Basically, you set aside some time from your busy schedule to do something that irritates Dame Beatrice.

By choosing this task, you won’t be affected by the Dame Beatrice tile during the Dame Beatrice phase.

Dame Beatrice is a kind old lady who praises you to everyone. This can really boost your reputation in society – something you definitely don’t want.

After the actions phase (and after the Hyde Park phase if you’re playing the election competition), it’s time to compare each player’s influence markers with the Dame Beatrice tile. The current round’s tile specifies which influence markers need to move up one space. Let me explain each tile for you.

When you play the game, all markers move at the same time. However, some markers may be blocked from moving if there’s another marker above them or if they’re in the top row. When a marker is blocked, you have to move another marker up one space. You have the freedom to choose which marker will be penalized. It can be a marker that has already moved or one that isn’t affected by the tile.

If there are no markers that can move up, it means you’re already highly regarded, and Dame Beatrice can’t improve your social standing any further!

Good news! There’s a way to avoid being penalized for each tile. Another way to avoid the penalty is by playing on the Dame Beatrice space during the errands phase.

Discovering the Magic of Dame Beatrice Tiles

We’re facing a real situation here, my friends. Let’s talk about those two columns. You see, each one has these influence markers, and what you need to do is move them up by one space. Simple, right? Well, here’s the catch. If all your markers are in that crossed-out column, then Dame Beatrice doesn’t affect you. So it’s all about getting your markers in the right place, my friends. That’s the game we’re playing!

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When it comes to influence markers in this game, it’s important to understand how they work. I’ll break it down for you.

First off, let’s talk about Dame Beatrice. She’s a character in the game who can impact your gameplay. Specifically, she can influence your markers.

Now, imagine a game board with rows of markers. The first row has 6 points, the second row has 7 points, and so on, all the way up to the last row with 12 points. If any of your markers are in these rows, Dame Beatrice will come into play.

Here’s the rule: every influence marker that’s within these rows must move up 1 space. It’s pretty straightforward.

But here’s the catch – if all your markers are outside of these rows, Dame Beatrice won’t have any effect on you. So, keep that in mind as you strategize your moves.

In conclusion, understanding Dame Beatrice’s influence on your markers is crucial for success in the game. By following this rule, you’ll have a better chance of winning. Good luck!

Imagine a scenario where you have a few markers lined up in a row. In this situation, if you ever find yourself with two or more markers in the same row, you need to move them straight up by one space. This rule holds true, even if the markers are not placed right next to each other.

Let’s say you have two rows of markers, and each row has two markers. In this case, all four markers are impacted by this rule. However, if both rows contain no more than one marker, then you are safe from being affected by Dame Beatrice.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you play the game, there is one important rule to remember: any marker that is next to another marker must move up one space. It doesn’t matter if the markers are next to each other horizontally, vertically, or even diagonally – if they are adjacent, they move up together as a group.

This rule is called the “Dame Beatrice rule.” If none of your markers are next to each other, then Dame Beatrice doesn’t affect you at all.

Step 6: End Of Round

Once each round is complete, it’s time to move on to the next steps:

Check for the End of the Game

The game will end if any player’s score in any competition is zero or below. It doesn’t matter if a player’s score dropped to zero during the round but then went back up because of Hyde Park or Dame Beatrice. What matters is the final score after Hyde Park and Dame Beatrice. The game will also end after playing five rounds. I’ll explain how scoring works in the next section.

If the game doesn’t end, then it’s time to prepare for the next round:

Shuffle the Turn Queue

If you placed one of your errand boys on a numbered space, you’ll get to go next round in the order. Just move your marker to the right spot. And don’t forget to return your bonus action tiles to the board if you haven’t already.

If you didn’t reserve a spot with an errand boy, you’ll have to put your marker on one of the leftover spaces. Your order in the queue doesn’t change, though.

For example: After the round ends, the errand boys and markers look like this:

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When it’s time to pick spots, Red and Blue go first and choose where they want to be. Then it’s Yellow and Green’s turn to pick the remaining spots. Yellow is still ahead of Green.

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

If I don’t send an errand boy to reserve a spot in the order, then the play order doesn’t change.

Let’s Start Fresh

I need to get rid of any white-bordered cards that I played this round. If I have cards left in my hand, I must discard down to 4 cards. I should also reset any black-bordered cards that I activated.

I should remove all the cards that were not taken from the game boards, including the central card. It’s important not to forget about the political circle tiles on the election game board, the possession tiles on the possessions game board, and the Dame Beatrice tile for this round.

Lastly, I need to return all my errand boy figures to me.

The renaissance man tile goes back to the central board, along with all the bonus action tiles.

Move On to the Next Round

Hey there! Let’s talk about how to play the possessions game. First, move the round marker to the next space on the game board. Easy, right?

Scoring

In the game, your score is determined by the amount of money you have. If you have any possessions at the end of the game, you need to turn them in. You’ll get the value written on the tile plus 3 pounds for each possession. So, as long as you have possessions, your score will be higher than zero. The borough indicator doesn’t affect your score, by the way.

While you have possessions, you can’t go into debt. This means that if an action would make you spend more money than you have, you can only spend what you actually have. But once you don’t have any possessions left, you’re free to go into debt, which means your score may drop below zero. Exciting, isn’t it?

How to play The Prodigals Club Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When it comes to the election competition, there’s a special scoreboard that keeps track of your score. This scoreboard has a maximum of 44 points, and if you reach that maximum, you can’t go any higher. But here’s something interesting – if you lose votes and your score goes below zero, that negative score still counts. It’s like having a negative number in this competition, which is pretty rare and unusual.

In the society competition, your score is determined by your player board. There are markers on the board, and they can only move within certain limits. They can’t go above the top row or below the bottom row. To calculate your score, you add up the values underneath your four markers. And here’s the twist – your score can be less than zero, which means you’re in the negative.

So, in each competition, you’ll have a score. But the score that matters the most is your highest score. That’s the one that determines your final standing. And here’s the intriguing part – the player with the lowest highest score wins the competition. It’s a bit counterintuitive, but it adds a whole new level of excitement and strategy to the game.
