Welcome to the Gallerist Solo Rules!
I’m thrilled to have you here. In today’s adventure, we’re going to explore the exciting world of art galleries and uncover what it takes to become a successful gallerist. So, grab your favorite art book and let’s get started!
First things first, let’s talk about the role of a gallerist. As an aspiring gallerist, your job is to curate and exhibit artwork that captures the imagination and hearts of art enthusiasts. But it’s not just about showcasing beautiful pieces; you also need to nurture relationships with artists, collectors, and critics.
Now, let’s dive into the solo rules. The Gallerist Solo game is designed to immerse you in the thrilling experience of running your own gallery, all by yourself. We’ll go over the main rules of the game to help you navigate this creative journey.
Here’s how it works:
Setting Up the Game
First, you’ll need to set up the game board. This is where all the action will take place. Place the different tiles and markers as instructed in the rule book, making sure everything is in its right place.
Game Phases
The game is divided into five distinct phases, each representing a different aspect of running a gallery. These phases include:
1. Influence
In this phase, you’ll be manipulating the art world to gain influence and recognition. Build relationships with artists, collectors, and critics to elevate your position in the art community.
2. Exhibition
Now it’s time to curate your gallery space and decide which artworks to exhibit. Choose pieces that resonate with your artistic vision and captivate your audience.
3. Art Acquisition
In this phase, you’ll have the opportunity to acquire new artworks. Discover talented artists and expand your collection, ensuring your gallery stands out as a hub for artistic brilliance.
4. Sales
Your gallery needs to thrive financially, and that’s where the sales phase comes in. Sell artworks to collectors and secure valuable deals to keep the gallery afloat.
5. End Phase
Finally, we reach the end phase, where you’ll wrap up your gallery’s operations for the day. Calculate your income, evaluate the impact of your actions, and get ready for your next exciting adventure.
Victory Conditions
In The Gallerist Solo, there are multiple ways to achieve victory. You can earn points through acquiring artworks, selling pieces, and building your reputation. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins!
There you have it, the basic solo rules for The Gallerist. I hope you’re as excited as I am to embark on this artistic journey. So put on your curator’s hat and let your creativity come to life. Enjoy!
To start the game, follow the usual steps, but there are a few changes:
First, choose a color to represent the dummy player, Lacerda. You’ll find Lacerda’s Gallerist pawn and all his assistants near the game board.
Next, place 10 tickets of each color in the box office.
Then, randomly select 8 reputation tiles and place them in the first and third columns of the top part of the International Market. The middle column is left empty.
Finally, take 4 visitors of each type and place them back in the box.
How to Play
It’s your turn to play first. Once you take your turn, move Lacerda’s pawn to the opposite location on the game board. After every turn you take, Lacerda will move one spot clockwise, leaving one of his assistants behind at each location.
Just like usual, if Lacerda kicks you or your assistant out of a location, you can take a “Kicked-Out Action.”
When it comes to Lacerda, I don’t make any Location or Executive Actions unless we’re talking about the International Market.
If you decide to kick out one of Lacerda’s Assistants, just put the Assistant back in their supply on the side of the game board. Then, discard one ticket from the stack with the most tickets. If there’s a tie, you can discard from any tied stack.
If you kick out Lacerda’s Gallerist, he also has to discard one ticket. But don’t worry, he’ll just keep moving clockwise in his turn. You can’t mess with his clockwise movement!
The International Market
Whenever Lacerda goes to the International Market, or if he or any of his Assistants get kicked out by you, I’ll place one of Lacerda’s Assistants on the table. I’ll start by putting it in the first available empty space at the top left, then move right, and continue to the next row.
When I play the game, there are two places where I can put Lacerda’s Assistants. One is on the top part, which is called the Reputation tile. The other is on the bottom part, known as the Auction.
I repeat this sequence throughout the game, so every 3rd, 5th, and so on Assistant goes on the top part, while the 2nd, 4th, and so on Assistant goes on the bottom part. If either part of the table is already full, I can put the Assistants on the unfilled part until the table is complete.
If I place one of Lacerda’s Assistants on a space that has a Reputation tile, I need to discard that tile.
Example: Lacerda moves to the International Market. I already have 2 Assistants in the Reputation part of the table, and also 2 in the auction part. So this will be the 5th of my Assistants placed in the table, and it is therefore placed in the top part.
The Assistant is put on the first empty space nearest the top left and the Reputation tile is thrown away.
End Of Solitaire Game
The solo game finishes at the end of the round when the last ticket is taken from the box office. Then, I get one more action (at a different location than the one I am currently at).
