Survive: Escape from Atlantis – A Game of Survival

Welcome to the thrilling world of Survive: Escape from Atlantis! In this game, you will embark on an adventure like no other. You and your fellow players find yourselves stranded on the sinking island of Atlantis. Your mission? To escape to safety and survive the perils of the treacherous sea.

At the start of the game, you will have a group of brave explorers under your command. Your goal is to navigate them through the treacherous waters to one of the nearby islands or to the mainland. But beware! The sea is filled with hungry sea creatures, dangerous whirlpools, and even a deadly sea monster known as the Kraken.

As the game progresses, you’ll face tough decisions and unexpected challenges. Will you risk crossing a sea creature-infested route to get to a closer island, or will you take the longer, safer path? How will you protect your explorers from the relentless attacks of the Kraken? And what if you find yourself stranded on a sinking island with no way out? It’s up to you to strategize and make split-second decisions to survive.

One of the key elements of Survive: Escape from Atlantis is the element of surprise. Each turn, you will draw a tile that represents the actions you can take. These tiles can range from moving your explorers to summoning sea creatures to attack your opponents. The randomness of the tiles ensures that no two games are alike and keeps you on your toes.

Throughout the game, you’ll have to analyze the changing board and adapt your strategies accordingly. You’ll need to balance risk-taking with cautiousness, knowing when to make a daring move and when to play it safe. It’s a delicate dance of survival and cunning that keeps the game exciting and unpredictable.

As you navigate the dangerous waters of Survive: Escape from Atlantis, keep in mind that teamwork and negotiation can also play a role in your survival. You can form alliances with other players to increase your chances of success, or you can break alliances and betray your adversaries. It’s a world where trust is scarce, and every decision matters.

Survive: Escape from Atlantis is not just a game – it’s an experience. So gather your friends, unleash your competitive spirit, and immerse yourself in the thrill of survival. Will you escape the sinking island of Atlantis and pave your way to victory, or will you fall victim to the merciless sea? The choice is yours.

Hey there! Have you heard the news? An underwater volcano just erupted, and guess what? The legendary Atlantis is actually sinking! Can you believe it?

Now, here’s the deal: it’s a race against time to move your Atlantean “people” to the safety of the nearby islands. But let me warn you, the path to safety is not a walk in the park. Nope, it’s dangerous out there!

You’ve got sea serpents and sharks just waiting to attack your brave people. And watch out for those sneaky whales, they could capsize your boats. Yikes!

Your mission is to rescue as many people as you possibly can before the volcano tile is revealed and the game comes to an end. And guess what else? The winner is the player who manages to save the most points worth of people tokens. Are you up for the challenge?

Now, Let’s Get Set Up

I’ll start by placing the 5 Sea Serpent tokens onto the 5 spaces on the game board that are marked with a Sea Serpent icon.

Once we begin playing the game, we shouldn’t look at or reveal the point values of our People tokens, even if they have reached a safe island or have been removed from the game.

Game Play

Let’s start with the first player, and then move to the left from there. During your turn, you’ll go through these steps:

  1. Choose a Land tile from your “hand” and play it. It’s important to remember that you can only play one Land tile per turn that you acquired during a previous turn. However, on your first turn or if you don’t have any Land tiles in your “hand”, you’ll skip this step.

Hey there! Let’s talk about how to move your People and Boats in this awesome game. It’s super important to understand this, so listen up!

  1. First things first, you can move both your People and Boats. Pretty cool, right? You got the power!
  2. When you move, you can choose either land or sea spaces. And guess what? You can move up to three spaces in total. That’s the maximum limit, my friend.
  3. Let me give you an example: You can move two of your People – one space each – into a Boat. And then, you can move that Boat one space. You following me so far?
  4. Now, the ultimate goal here is to get your People into those Boats and start sailing towards the nearby islands. Adventure awaits!
  5. For more details on moving your People and Boats, check out the “Moving Your People and Boats” section below. All the juicy information is waiting for you there.

Moving Your People and Boats

People

How to play Survive Escape from Atlantis Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When it comes to moving People tokens in the game, there are a few options available to you:

  • You can move a People token from one Land tile to another Land tile, even if there are already other tokens on the destination tile.
  • You can move a People token from a Land tile onto a Boat if the Boat is in a nearby sea space.
  • You can move a People token from one Boat to another Boat in an adjacent sea space.
  • You can even move a People token into a Boat that is already occupied by People of a different color.

However, it is important to note that you cannot move another player’s People token. Once a People token leaves the island, whether by boarding a Boat or becoming a Swimmer, it cannot return to a Land tile.

Speaking of Swimmers…

Swimmers are created when People tokens move into a sea space from an adjacent Land tile. They can also be created by jumping overboard from a Boat into the same sea space or by falling into a sea space when a Land tile is removed. Finally, Swimmers can be formed when a Boat is capsized by a Whale and the People tokens on board fall into the sea.

When you play the game, you can only move a Swimmer one space at a time. This includes moving from a Land tile or Boat onto a sea space. It’s important to remember that each movement counts as one move for a Swimmer.

If a Swimmer and a Boat occupy the same sea space, you can move the Swimmer onto the Boat.

Don’t worry if more than one Swimmer ends up in the same sea space. They can share the space without any problems.

However, if you move a Swimmer onto a sea space that already has a Sea Serpent or Shark, the Swimmer will be taken out of the game immediately. You won’t be able to move through a sea space with either of these creatures.

About Boats

How to play Survive Escape from Atlantis Official Rules UltraFoodMess

So, here’s the deal: you can move any empty boat around in the water however you want. Cool, right?

Oh, and by the way, only one boat can be in a sea space at a time. So, make sure you’re not crowding the place!

Now, each boat can only hold up to three people at a time. It doesn’t matter who the people belong to, the limit is the same for everyone.

Now, let’s talk ownership. If multiple players have their people on a boat, the player with the most people controls the boat. Simple as that. And if you control the boat, only you can move it.

But, here’s the twist. When an equal number of people are on a boat, each player has control. Makes sense, right? Can’t argue with that.

Oh, one more thing – if you move a boat with people into a space with a Sea Serpent, bad news: the boat and everyone on it is immediately out of the game. So, beware of those sneaky serpents!

If you move a Boat into a sea space with a Whale, the Boat is taken out of the game and the People on it become Swimmers (you can’t try to move through that sea space). If the sea space also has a Shark, the Swimmers are removed from the game.

Getting to a Safe Island

People can leave a Boat that is in one of the two sea spaces next to a safe island. Each person moved from the Boat to a safe island counts as one move.

The Boat stays in the same sea space until it’s moved again.

Moving a Swimmer onto a safe island from a nearby sea space counts as one move.

Using Information on a Land Tile

So, here’s the deal. When you take out a Land tile in step 3 like I mentioned earlier, you gotta be sneaky and check out the underside without letting anyone else see. Now, there are three kinds of tiles that you might come across, and each one has its own special way of being played:

  1. The “Play immediately” tiles: These ones are a biggie. If you spot one of these symbols, show the tile to everyone right away, do what it says, and then take that Land tile out of the game. Easy peasy.
  2. The “Play at the start of your turn” tiles: Now these ones are a little different. You gotta wait until it’s your turn again, and then you can play the tile and do its thing. You can’t just jump the line, ya know?
  3. The “Play out-of-turn/defensively” tiles: Ahh, these sneaky tiles. They let you mess with the other players, even when it’s not your turn. Play one of these babies and watch the chaos unfold!

So here’s the deal: grab one of those Shark tokens and plunk it right into the sea where the Land tile used to be. Any poor Swimmers hanging out in that sea space? Well, they’re outta here, gone from the game.

Hey there! Let me break it down for you. You know that whale token? Grab it and put it in the sea where the Land tile used to be.

I’ll tell you what you gotta do. Grab one of those Boat tokens you set aside, and stick it right there in the sea space where the Land tile was. And here’s the kicker: if there’s any Swimmers hanging out in that space, you gotta put them on the Boat too. But here’s the thing, if there’s more than three Swimmers, it’s up to you to pick which ones get to hop on board. So choose wisely!

To start, I need you to remove all Swimmers, Sea Serpents, Sharks, Whales, Boats, and People in the sea space where the Land tile used to be, as well as in any nearby sea spaces. Take them out of the game completely.

Tiles that say “Play at the start of your turn”

If you come across one of these symbols, put the tile face down in front of you. This is now part of your “hand” of tiles. Once during your turn, in step 1 of “Game Play” above, you have the option to play one of these tiles from your hand. After you play it, remove the Land tile from the game:

When a dolphin comes to help you, it’s an exciting moment! Imagine seeing a dolphin swimming towards you, ready to lend a hand. You can’t help but feel a rush of joy and gratitude.

I have experienced this incredible encounter personally. Picture this – I was playing in the ocean, and suddenly a dolphin appeared by my side. It was a magical sight. I could feel a connection with this magnificent creature.

Just like in that beautiful moment, when a dolphin aids one of your Swimmers in the game, it’s an amazing experience. You get to move one of your Swimmers up to 3 sea spaces! This means your Swimmer can explore new areas and reach new heights.

Imagine the advantage this gives you. You can discover hidden treasures, explore uncharted territories, and uncover new opportunities. It’s as if this friendly dolphin is guiding you towards something extraordinary.

So, don’t miss out! Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity. When a dolphin reaches out to help you, embrace it and let it take you on an exciting journey. Who knows what wonders you’ll discover along the way?

Ahoy there! It’s your lucky day – the winds are in your favor! I want to let you in on a little secret: you have the power to move one of your boats across the sea up to three spaces. How exciting is that?

Hey there! Guess what? I have a fun task for you. How about we play a game together? It’s called Sea Serpent Shakeup! Here’s how it works:

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to move any one Sea Serpent on the game board to any unoccupied sea space.

But hold on a sec! Let me break it down for you in simpler terms. In this game, we have these cool creatures called Sea Serpents. They are like giant snakes, but they live in the water. Now, imagine you have the power to move one of these Sea Serpents. You can decide where it goes on the game board. Sounds exciting, right?

Now, here’s the catch. You can only move the Sea Serpent to a sea space that doesn’t have any other creatures in it. You want to make sure your Sea Serpent has its own space to roam and explore.

Alright, my friend! It’s time to unleash your inner strategist and start moving those Sea Serpents. Have fun!

Hey there! Let me tell you something interesting. Did you know that you can move any of the Sharks on the game board to a new spot in the sea? Yep, you heard it right! You have the power to choose where they go!

If you want to shake things up a bit, here’s a cool move you can make. Choose any Whale on the game board and move it to an empty spot in the sea. This allows you to strategically position your pieces and gain an advantage.

Playtiles that disrupt your opponent

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. If you come across one of these symbols, take the tile and place it face down in front of you. These tiles are special because you can play them even when it’s not your turn. They’re called “defensive” tiles because they allow you to respond to the movements of other players’ creatures.

Once you play a defensive tile, remove the corresponding Land tile from the game. Let’s see how you can use these tiles:

If a Shark moves into the same sea space as one of my Swimmers, I can use this special Land tile to get rid of the Shark. This happens before the Shark can remove my Swimmer from the game. I can keep my Swimmer in the sea space, safe and sound.

If a Whale moves into a sea space where I have a Boat, I can use this Land tile to remove the Whale from the game. It happens before the Whale tips over my Boat, so I can keep my Boat safe.

I leave my Boat right where it is in the sea.

Let’s talk about the little symbols on the back of the Land tiles:

There are 4 small symbols on the back of the Land tiles. They’re just reminders of when and how to play the Land tiles:

When you encounter a Sea Serpent, you have the power to make it move to a different sea space. This could lead to some interesting consequences! For example, if you choose a sea space with a Boat and some People on it, you get to remove them from the game. Additionally, all Swimmers in that sea space are also removed. However, if the sea space has an unoccupied Boat, it remains untouched.

Watch out for Sharks!

How to play Survive Escape from Atlantis Official Rules UltraFoodMess

If you come across a Shark, you can move it one or two sea spaces. But beware, if there are any Swimmers in the first sea space, the Shark will stop moving. When the Shark finishes its move, it removes all the Swimmers in that sea space. However, the Shark doesn’t do anything to a Boat in the same sea space.

Now, let’s talk about the Whale.

How to play Survive Escape from Atlantis Official Rules UltraFoodMess

If you roll a Whale, you can move it up to three sea spaces. But be careful! If the Whale goes into a sea space with a Boat, its turn is over. And if there are people on that Boat, they become Swimmers. If there’s also a Shark in that sea space, the Swimmers are out of the game. Luckily, the Whale doesn’t bother Swimmers or empty Boats in the same sea space.

Sea Serpents, Sharks, and Whales don’t bother each other. They can all be in the same sea space.

How the game ends

How to play Survive Escape from Atlantis Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Imagine this: you and I are playing a thrilling game called Atlantis. The game board is made up of tiles, and one of them shows a picture of a volcano. This particular tile is like a ticking time bomb, because as soon as you uncover it, disaster strikes. The volcano erupts, obliterating any remaining part of Atlantis and all the people who are still trying to make their way to safety. It’s a devastating turn of events, and it means the game is over for us.

But here’s something important to note: you might find yourself in a situation where you have no more people left to move before the game ends. If that happens, don’t worry! We can still keep playing, but there’s one small change. We won’t need to perform step 2 from the “Game Play” instructions anymore, which is all about moving our people and boat tokens. We’ll skip that part during our turns.

Now, let’s fast forward to the end of the game. At this point, we’ll need to turn over all the people we managed to land on the safe islands. Take a look at the numbers on the bottom of those people tokens and add them up. The player who ends up with the most points, not necessarily the most people, will be the winner of the game.
