How to Play the Sorry Game
Hey there! Ready to have some fun with the Sorry game? I’m here to guide you through the rules so we can start playing. Brace yourself for a thrilling adventure!
Objective
The goal of Sorry is simple: be the first player to get all your pawns from the start area to the home area. It sounds easy, but trust me, it’s full of surprises!
The Game Board
Imagine a colorful game board divided into different spaces. It’s like a racetrack where your pawns will zoom around. Each player has their own color-coded start area, home area, and a track to move their pawns.
Playing the Game
Here’s where things get interesting! To start, each player picks their four pawns and places them in the start area. The youngest player goes first, and the turns go clockwise from there.
On your turn, you’ll draw a card from the deck. The card will tell you how many spaces you can move your pawn. You can even move multiple pawns if you want. But be prepared, because the other players can send your pawn back to the start area with a Sorry card – hence the name of the game!
But don’t worry! You can do the same to them. If you land on an opponent’s pawn, say “Sorry!” and send them back to the start. That’s the joy of this game, delicious revenge!
Special Cards
Watch out for those special cards! You have a few tricks up your sleeve:
- A “1” or “2” card lets you start a pawn or move it forward 1 or 2 spaces.
- A “4” card lets you move backward 4 spaces or move forward 4 and set a Sorry card in front of an opponent’s pawn. Sneaky!
- A “7” card lets you split the move between two pawns.
- A “10” card lets you move forward 10 spaces or backward 1. It’s a lucky number!
- A “11” card lets you move forward 11 spaces or switch places with an opponent’s pawn. So much power!
- A “Sorry” card lets you send an opponent, who is in your way, back to start. Sweet revenge!
Winning the Game
Remember, the goal is to get all your pawns to the home area before the other players. Once you get all four pawns there, give yourself a pat on the back, because you are the champion!
Now It’s Your Turn!
Are you ready to challenge your friends and dominate the Sorry game? Grab the board, gather your pawns, and let’s make some unforgettable memories. Get ready to say “Sorry!” and laugh out loud! Have a blast!
When we start playing the game, we each grab three pawns of the same color and put them in the area that corresponds to our color on the board. Then, we mix up the cards and put them face down in the middle of the board.
The person who is the youngest gets to go first. Then, we take turns going to the left.
How to Play the Game
So, you want to know how to play SORRY!, huh? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Here’s how it works:
- First things first, you’ll need to draw a card from the SORRY! deck. This card will have special instructions on it that you’ll need to follow. So make sure you read it carefully!
- After you’ve read the card, place it face up on the DISCARD HERE pile. We don’t want any confusion about which card you’ve already used!
- Now, if you happen to run out of cards to draw, don’t panic! Just grab all the cards from the discard pile, give them a good shuffle, and place them face down in the center of the board. That way, you’ll have a fresh batch of cards to draw from.
Starting Your Pawn’s Journey
Alright, now let’s talk about how you can get your pawn out of its start area. All you need is a forward-moving card. Yep, it’s as simple as that. Just draw a card with a number that allows you to move one space forward, and you’ll be on your way!
Time to Make Your Move
Once your pawn is out of the start area, it’s time to start making your way around the board. The rule is simple: move your pawn clockwise. That means you’ll be going in the same direction as the hands of a clock. Easy enough, right? But remember, there might be some cards that instruct you to move your pawn in a different direction, so always be on the lookout for those!
Jumping and Bumping
When I play, I can jump over my pawn or someone else’s if it blocks my path. I count that as one space.
However, if I land on a spot where my opponent’s pawn is already there, I bump it back to their color’s starting area. In return, I get to take that spot!
Occupied Spaces
I’m only allowed to have one of my pawns on a spot at a time, except for the starting area and home.
If my only possible move means landing on a space that already has one of my pawns, then I have to give up my turn.
If I ever find myself unable to move, I also have to give up my turn. But if there’s still a possible move for me, I have to take it, even if it’s not in my favor!

When playing the board game Sorry, there are some important rules to keep in mind. First, if you don’t want to change places with another player and there are no other options to move forward 11 spaces, you can choose to forfeit your turn. Secondly, you can only switch pawns that are on the open track, not ones that are at the start, home, or in a safety zone. Additionally, if your switch lands you on a triangle at the beginning of a slide that matches your pawn’s color, you must slide all the way to the end of the slide. Finally, there is a special move where you can choose to move one of your pawns forward 12 spaces. So, remember these rules when playing Sorry and enjoy the game!
Hey there! Let me tell you how to play a fun game called Sorry!. It’s super exciting and easy to learn!
Here’s what you do:
- #image.jpgFirst, you have four pawns in your start area, and you want to get them all home to win the game.
- If you don’t have any pawns on the board or if there are no opponent’s pawns in the spaces you can move to, you miss your turn. So be strategic!
- You have two options for moving your pawns: either you can replace an opponent’s pawn with one of your own, which sends their pawn back to their start area, or you can move one of your pawns forward four spaces.
That’s it! Keep playing and moving your pawns strategically to be the first one to get all three of them home. Have fun!
