Welcome to the wonderful world of Pictureka, where every picture tells a story! Have you ever played a game that combines the thrill of a treasure hunt with the joy of a picture puzzle? Well, Pictureka brings these two worlds together, creating an extraordinary and incredibly fun gaming experience.
Now, let me take you on a journey through the game rules of Pictureka, so you can dive right into the action and start playing!
Game Setup
To begin, spread out the Pictureka cards facedown on a clean and empty table. Make sure there’s plenty of space to allow your creativity to flow! Each card features a unique picture, bursting with color and imagination. Get ready to explore these vibrant worlds!
Gather your friends or family members around the table, as Pictureka is best enjoyed with a group of enthusiastic adventurers. The game is suitable for two or more players, so the more, the merrier!
Gameplay
Once the game setup is complete, it’s time to embark on your Pictureka adventure! Here’s how the game is played:
- Choose a player to be the Card Revealer. This player will draw a card and show it to everyone. The card will reveal a picture with various objects and characters hidden within.
- The remaining players become the Seekers. Armed with a keen eye and a competitive spirit, the Seekers race against the clock to find the objects and characters depicted on the revealed card.
- Set a timer for a specific amount of time. This will add an extra element of excitement and keep the game moving quickly.
- As the Seekers excitedly search for the hidden objects, they can call out the names of the items they find. For example, if a turtle is hiding in the picture, a Seeker might shout, “Turtle!”
- The Card Revealer acts as the judge, verifying if the Seekers have found the correct objects in the picture. If they have, the Seekers keep the card as a point in their favor. If they haven’t, the card goes back into the deck.
- Continue playing until all the cards have been revealed or until the timer runs out.
- The player with the most points at the end of the game is declared the Pictureka champion!
Keep in mind that Pictureka is not just a game; it’s an immersive experience that encourages creativity, attentiveness, and quick thinking. With its captivating pictures, you’ll find yourself exploring whimsical worlds and discovering hidden treasures, all while having a blast with your friends and family.

How to Play the Game
Hey there! If you want to learn how to play this awesome game, I’ve got you covered. There are actually two ways to play it – “Round & Round” and “Mish Mash”. Let’s dive in and explore both of them!
Round & Round
Mish Mash
So, let’s start with “Round & Round”. It’s a really cool way to get familiar with each game before you make it super frantic with “Mish Mash”. Take your time with this mode and enjoy!
Switch or Flip
Okay, now let’s talk about something important – the “Switch” and “Flip” cards. You’ll see arrows on the back of some cards – these are the “Switch” and “Flip” cards. Before you play them, make sure to follow what they say. It’s all part of the fun!
Hey, let’s talk about something really cool – switching the location of tiles! It’s like moving puzzle pieces around, and it can be so much fun!
Here’s the deal – have you ever played a game where you had to move tiles to make a picture or solve a problem? Well, that’s exactly what we’re talking about! Instead of moving physical pieces, we’re going to move digital tiles. And guess what? You can do this right here, right now!
Imagine having a grid of tiles, each with its own spot. Sometimes, you might want to rearrange those tiles to make them fit better or solve a problem. That’s when switching the location of tiles comes in handy!
Think about it this way – if you have a puzzle and one of the pieces is in the wrong spot, you can just move it to the right spot. It’s like magic! The same thing goes for switching the location of tiles. If something is not quite right, you can easily fix it by moving a tile to a different spot.
It’s important to remember that when you switch the location of tiles, you need to be thoughtful and strategic. You have to figure out which tile needs to go where and how to make everything fit together. It’s a bit like solving a puzzle!
Switching the location of tiles can be challenging, but it’s also a lot of fun. It gives you the power to change things up and make everything just the way you want it. So go ahead, give it a try and see what you can create!
Ready to see some magic? Let’s flip over a tile!
Get Ready for Round & Round
- Decide how many rounds we should play:
2-3 | 3 rounds |
4-5 | 2 rounds |
6+ | 1 round |
Hey there! Let me give you some tips on how to play Mish Mash. First things first, make sure to play all your blue card rounds first, then green, and finally red. Each mission color has different rules, so if it’s your first game, be sure to read the rules on the back of the cards. But if you’re already familiar with the rules, just dive in and start playing!
Now, here’s the important part – the person who has the most cards at the end of the game is the winner. So, collect those cards and aim to be the champion!
Let’s Get Started with Mish Mash!
- When it’s my turn, I’ll roll the die. What color will it show?
The player who collects six cards first will win the game.
Watch Out for Sneaky Cheaters!
If you say “Pictureka!” before you point, or if you point at a picture that clearly doesn’t match the mission, then you’re being a sneaky cheater!
The rest of us get to decide your punishment. You might have to give up a card, or maybe you’ll have to bark like a dog or do an “I’m So Sorry” dance.
Missions
There are three different types of mission, each represented by a different color card:
Blue: Be the Fastest Finder
Want to be the fastest and most observant player? Well, get ready to beat everyone else at their own game!
- First, turn the card face up so that everyone can see it. This card will have a picture that is unique and only appears once on the tiles.
- Now, it’s time to find that picture as quickly as you can. Shout “Pictureka!” and point to the picture as soon as you spot it. If you’re the first one to find it, congratulations! You get to keep the card.
Green: Personal
Alright, listen up! It’s time to roll the dice and put your skills to the test.
- Grab a green card and read the words on your chosen layer. Now, roll the die – that’s how many of those things you need to find.
- Show the card to everyone, then ask someone to start the timer. They’ll shout when time’s up!
- Get ready, get set, GO! Start searching high and low!
- Awesome job! If you find enough things before time runs out, you get to keep the card.
- Oops! If time runs out before you find what you need, tough luck! The card goes to the bottom of the pile.
Crimson: My Amazing Tile
Let’s find pictures on your own tiles. We all get to play.
- First, choose any tile and put it in front of you. If there are 4 players or fewer, grab 2 tiles each.
- Now, turn over the top red card, read it aloud, and place it in the middle for everyone to see.
- Count down from 3,2,1, GO! Flip over your tiles and start searching.
- If you’re the first to find a picture that matches the mission, shout “Pictureka!” and point at it. You get to keep the card.
If you can’t find a matching picture, you can flip your tiles to the other side once per card.
Other Ways to Play
Longer or Shorter Game
- Mish Mash: Set a higher or lower number of cards to win to make the game longer or shorter.
- Round & Round: Play fewer rounds for a quicker game.
Team Play
Let’s split into teams and work together. It’s a great way for us little ones to have fun!
Let’s Mix & Match!
If you have the original Pictureka! game, let’s mix up the tiles!
- Mix up all 18 picture tiles and randomly choose 9 of them.
- Put the blue cards aside, they’re not part of the game.
- Combine the red and green cards from both games and shuffle one pile of red cards and one pile of green cards. Place them facedown on the table.
- Play Round & Round or Mish Mash with the red and green cards just like you normally would. If you roll blue, roll again.
- Once you’re done, make sure to put each game’s cards and tiles back in their respective boxes (look for the number 2 on the corner of the tiles).
