Party Alias Game Rules

Hey there, welcome to the world of Party Alias! This is where the fun begins.

Let me break it down for you. In this game, it’s all about using words to communicate and get your teammates to guess the secret word. The goal is to do it as quickly as possible because who doesn’t love a little friendly competition?

Here’s how it works: You and your team take turns being the explainer, while the other team members are the guessers. When it’s your turn to explain, you’ll see a word on the card that only you can see. Your mission is to describe the word without actually saying it. Sounds challenging, doesn’t it?

Well, don’t worry. You have a few tools at your disposal to help you out. On the card, you’ll find a set of keywords that you can use as clues to guide your teammates. These keywords are related to the secret word, so use them wisely. Just remember, you can’t say the secret word itself or any part of it. We wouldn’t want to make it too easy, right?

Once the timer starts, it’s go time! You have a limited amount of time to explain the word and get your teammates to guess it. The more words they guess correctly, the more points you score. And let me tell you, scoring points feels pretty amazing.

Now, it’s important to know that every game has its rules. So, here are a couple of key points to keep in mind:

1. No Spelling: You can’t spell out the secret word or any part of it. The goal is to use your language skills and creativity to describe it.

2. Pass if Needed: If you’re stuck and can’t think of any more clues, no worries. You can pass your turn to the next team member. But remember, time is ticking, so use this option sparingly.

3. Stay Honest: It’s all about fair play in Party Alias. No sneaky moves, no whispering hints, and definitely no pointing to objects in the room. Keep it clean and make sure everyone has a fair shot at guessing.

That’s about it, my friend. Get ready to have a blast with Party Alias. Gather your friends, let your imagination run wild, and show off your word wizardry. Trust me, once you start, you won’t want to stop. Happy guessing!

Do your best to get your teammates to guess as many words as possible before the time runs out.

Hey there! Let’s talk about a cool game called “Word Guess.” In this game, the team will advance on the game board for each correct guess you make. Woohoo!

Getting Started

Hey there! If you’re new to this, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Let’s talk about how to get set up and ready to go.

First things first, let’s understand what we mean when we say “setup”. In simple terms, it’s how you prepare something to be used or ready for action. It’s like getting your favorite game ready to play or setting the stage before a big performance.

Now, let’s think about why setup is important. When you take the time to properly set things up, it can make a huge difference in the outcome. It’s like the saying goes, “A good beginning is half the battle.” When you start off on the right foot, things tend to go more smoothly.

Okay, enough talking. Let’s get down to business and talk about how to set things up. There are a few key steps to keep in mind:

Step 1: Thinking about what you need.

Before you jump into anything, it’s important to know what you need. Take a moment to think about what tools or materials you’ll need to make things work.

Step 2: Gathering your supplies.

Once you know what you need, it’s time to gather your supplies. This might mean grabbing a pen and paper or gathering all the ingredients for your famous chocolate chip cookies.

Step 3: Organizing your space.

Now that you have your supplies, it’s time to get organized. Clear a space, declutter, and make sure everything is in its place. A clean and organized space can help you stay focused and prevent any unnecessary distractions.

Step 4: Following the instructions.

Next, it’s time to follow the instructions. Whether it’s a recipe or a set of directions, make sure you read and understand them before you begin. Following the instructions will help ensure that your setup is successful.

Step 5: Testing it out.

Once you’ve completed the setup, it’s always a good idea to test things out. This can help you identify any potential issues or areas that need improvement. Don’t be afraid to make adjustments and try again if necessary.

And there you have it! That’s how you get started with setting things up. Remember, taking the time to properly set things up can make a big difference in the outcome. So go ahead and get started, and enjoy the process along the way. Happy setup!

Okay, here’s what you need to do:

First, separate the word cards and the Party cards.

Next, make three stacks out of the word cards and place them on the game board.

Attach the spinner arrow to the game board.

Now, let’s get ready to have some fun! Make sure there’s enough space around the table for the crazy Party challenges. Divide into teams, and if any team has more than 2 players, follow the Team rules. Choose a pawn and place it on the Start space.

How to Play

  1. Each space on the game board has a number from 1 to 8. The number corresponds to a word on the word card that you need to explain. Each player in the team will take turns explaining.
  2. Hey there! Let’s dive into the fun and exciting game called Explainathon. I’m super excited to explain how it works, so listen up!
  3. The first thing we do is decide who will explain first on the team that goes first. Once we’ve agreed, the chosen player picks up a stack of word cards and gets ready.
  4. Alright, get ready, because here comes the action! The timer starts, and the explaining player begins to explain the word on the top card. If their team guesses the word correctly, the explaining player puts the card aside and moves on to the next word with the same number on the next card. Keep that momentum going!
  5. Now, pay attention to the other teams. When the time is up, they all shout “Stop!” If the last word hasn’t been guessed yet, the other teams can take a shot at guessing. But here’s the exciting part – the team that gets the word right scores a point and gets to move their pawn one step forward on the game board. How cool is that?
  6. Here’s a pro tip: the more words your team guesses correctly, the more steps you can move your pawn forward on the game board. Remember, every step counts!
  7. Now, when it comes to the used word cards, the player who was the last to explain returns them to the bottom of the stack. And guess what? It’s now the next team’s turn to take a shot at explaining. The fun keeps going!

On the game board, you’ll notice there are Party spaces. If my team’s pawn is on a Party space at the start of our turn, we explain the words differently (see Party spaces). If we successfully complete a Party challenge, we can spin the spinner and move forward the number of extra steps it shows.

The team that reaches the finish space first wins the game!

The words on the cards are not arranged in any particular order. They can be verbs, adjectives, nouns, people, places, colors, and more. It’s totally random what kind of words my team will have to explain.

Okay, so here’s how it goes: when we start the game by flipping the sand timer, that’s when the fun begins! I’ll give you hints and you guess what the word is. We can keep going until you get it right or until the sand runs out. But hey, remember, we’re just playing a game, so let’s not get too serious about following all the rules. We can decide how flexible we want to be.

Now, here’s the deal: the word you guess needs to be spot-on. I’ll do my best to help you figure it out, but I can only give hints, so it’s up to you to find the exact form of the word.

Oh, and if the word has two parts and you happen to guess the first part, well, then I can totally use it to give you more clues.

Please keep in mind that you can’t include any part of the word itself in your guesses. So, for example, if the word is “football,” you can’t say “a ball that is kicked with a foot.” Instead, you could say something like, “a round object that you try to kick into a goal.”

Let’s play a game of opposites. For example, if I give you the word “big,” you can describe it as the opposite of “small.” We can only use English unless everyone agrees on using different languages.

Minus Points

If the person explaining the word makes a mistake, like saying a part of the word on the card, we won’t accept it, and our team will get a minus point.

So, when it’s our turn to explain, everyone needs to listen carefully. Each minus point means moving one step back on the game board.

Here’s an example: if we guessed 6 words correctly, but I made two mistakes, we’ll move forward by 4 spaces (6 – 2 = 4).

If the word seems too hard, we have the option to skip it, but keep in mind that it will also give us a minus point. However, sometimes it’s a good idea because it saves us a lot of time.

Party Spaces

When my team starts our turn in one of the Party spaces on the game board, we get to use new and silly ways of explaining things. It’s a fun and different way to play!

After we successfully complete a Party challenge, we can move our pawn forward based on how many words we guessed correctly. We also get to spin the spinner to see if we can move extra steps (1-3). And just like in a regular game, we use the sand timer for timing our turns.

Each Party card gives us instructions on what the person explaining, the person guessing, and sometimes the other players need to do. It’s important for the other players to act quickly so they don’t disrupt the active team’s turn.

When I read the Party card, my team can decide to explain using the regular style. However, if we choose to do so, we would have to move our pawn 5 steps back on the game board.

When we land on a Party space, we reveal the top card from the Party deck before turning the sand timer. Then, we read out the description for everyone to understand what needs to be done. Once we’re all on the same page, we start explaining.

If my team successfully follows the instructions on the Party card until the time runs out, we get to spin the spinner. The spinner will determine how many additional steps we can move!

Team Rules

If my team has 3 or more players, we must choose one person to be the explainer and one person to be the guesser for each Party turn. During regular turns, one team member explains while the rest guess. We switch roles each turn.
