In 12th century Japan, there were two powerful clans – the Minamoto and Taira – who were constantly seeking power. Meanwhile, the retired Emperor Go-Shirakawa cleverly played these rival clans against each other. It was a fierce competition, as each faction strived to impose their own social order on the land.

But hidden away from the prying eyes of the elite powers, a group of cunning ninjas hatched their own plans to take advantage of the chaos. These ninjas knew that daring raids, mastering their skills, and engaging in subtle intrigue were all vital for them to establish their honor and rise to prominence. They were aware that when the new era arrived, only one ninja would emerge as the legendary Ninjato – the Invisible Sword of the ruling family.

Now, let me tell you about the various components that make up this exciting game.

First, we have the game board, which serves as the main stage for all the action. It’s where the fate of the ninjas will be decided.

Next, we have the Clan Tokens. There are a total of fifteen of these tokens, each representing a different clan. These tokens play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the game.

With these components in place, you’re ready to embark on an incredible journey through ancient Japan. Will you be the one to fulfill the prophecy and become the legendary Ninjato? The power is in your hands.

The Setup

I’ve got something important to tell you. You know how sometimes you come across a situation and you have to make a choice, but you’re not exactly sure what to do? That’s when it’s important to take a step back and really think about it.

Let’s say you’re looking for a new laptop. There are so many options out there, it can feel overwhelming. But if you want to make the right choice, there are a few key factors to consider. And that’s what I’m here to help you with.

First of all, think about what you really need from a laptop. Are you a student who needs it for schoolwork? Or maybe you’re a gamer who wants a powerful machine. Understanding your specific needs will help you narrow down your options.

Next, think about your budget. Laptops can be quite expensive, so it’s important to set a realistic budget for yourself. By knowing how much you can afford to spend, you can eliminate options that are out of your price range.

Another important factor to consider is the brand. Some brands are known for their quality and reliability, while others may have a reputation for being less reliable. Do some research and read reviews to find a brand that has a good reputation.

Finally, think about the specific features you want in a laptop. Do you need a large storage capacity? Or maybe you want a touch screen? Make a list of the features that are most important to you and use that as a guide when comparing different models.

By taking all of these factors into account, you can make an informed decision and choose the right laptop for you. So, next time you’re in the market for a new laptop, remember to consider your needs, budget, brand, and desired features. Happy laptop shopping!

Alright, here’s what we need to do. First, we put the board right in the middle of the table. Then, each of us grabs 3 shuriken that are all the same color and the wooden markers that match our shuriken. Next, we take one marker from each of us and put it in a container. After that, we randomly choose one marker at a time and place them on the Turn Order Track 1, which is right in the center of the board.

This sets the turn order for the first round. Now, the other two markers from each of us go at the start of the Honor Track 2. Oh, and don’t forget to keep your 3 shuriken right in front of you.

Okay, next step is to mix up the Guard Cards 3 and the Elite Guard Cards 4. Make sure they’re face down and keep them in separate piles. Then, we draw and place one guard card face up on each house 5. These guard cards act as sentries, protecting the houses.

When you’re setting up the game, here’s what you need to do:

First, grab two clan tokens for the Taira (red) clan and place them on different Clan Houses. Do the same for the Minamoto (blue) clan. Make sure each clan has a 2 honor value and a 4 honor value token.

Next, take the green Go-Shirakawa token with a 6 honor value and put it on the board.

Now, you’ll need to put the remaining clan tokens in a pile off to the side of the board.

After that, it’s time to mix up the Treasure tokens in the bag. Take 3 treasures and place them in each house, with the plain side facing up.

Next, you’ll need to separate the 3 Hensojutsu (Disguise) Skill Tiles from the rest. Shuffle them up and put them in a face-down stack next to the Sensei area.

Once you’ve done that, take the rest of the skill tiles and shuffle them up. Place them in a large face-down stack next to the Hensojutsu tiles.

Finally, draw a number of skill tiles equal to the number of players from the large stack and place them face up in the Sensei area.

Alright, let’s get started. First, grab the Envoy Cards and give them a good shuffle. Then, take four of them and place them face up on the Palace. The rest of the cards can go in a face-down stack near the board.

Next up are the Rumor Cards. Give them a shuffle as well, and then put four of them face up in the Pavilion. Just like with the Envoys, the remaining Rumor Cards can be placed in a face-down stack near the board.

Now it’s time for the Dojo Cards. Shuffle them up, and deal four to each player. Turn up three Dojo Cards and place them on the Dojo. Make sure to leave the deck of cards next to the Dojo, face down.

Almost there! Take the round marker and place it on the number one spot of the Round Track.

Now, you’re all set to start playing!

Game Play

As a master ninja, your goal is to become the most legendary ninja of the age. To achieve this, you’ll need to practice in the dojo, learn skills from the sensei, raid clan-controlled houses for treasure, influence envoys, and spread rumors in the pavilion.

So here’s how the game works: each of us takes a turn and puts one shuriken on a location. And guess what? We have to follow the rules for that location right away. Once we’ve all placed three shuriken, the round is done.

There are seven rounds in total. But the cool thing is that rounds 3, 5, and 7 have special scoring at the end. And you know what? The player with the most honor at the end of it all, wins!

When it’s your turn, you get to place a shuriken and take an action to attack the house with strength.

Your Actions

Now it’s time for you to make a move. You can pick one of these actions:

The Dojo: Take some dojo cards.

The Sensei: Learn a skill to use when invading houses.

The Clan Houses: Use dojo cards to defeat guards and collect treasure.

The Palace: Score treasure to take 1 envoy.

The Pavilion: Score treasure to take 1 rumor card.

Shuriken

Remember, each shuriken you place stays on the board until you remove it.

The Dojo

Hey there! Let me show you how to play this cool game at the dojo. It’s super fun and easy!

First, place a shuriken here and grab some dojo cards. You can take them from the face-up cards or the draw pile, it’s up to you. The number of cards you take depends on how many you already have in your hand. Let me break it down for you:

  • If you have no dojo cards, you can take four.
  • If you have one dojo card, take three.
  • And if you have two or more dojo cards, just take two.

Once you’ve taken your cards, replace any face-up cards you took with new ones from the draw pile. But remember, if there are no more cards left in the deck, we’ll have to shuffle the discards and start a new pile.

Now, let’s talk about the hand limit. It’s important to keep things fair.

If you have more than seven dojo cards in your hand, you need to discard down to seven. This way, everyone has an equal chance to win!

Oh, and one more thing: when you place your shuriken, make sure to stack it on top of any shuriken that’s already there. Makes it easier to keep track.

By the way, at the end of the round, the player order for the next round is determined by the stack of shuriken on the dojo. So, stack wisely!

When playing the game, we determine the order of players by looking at the shuriken on top of the stack. The player with the highest shuriken goes first, followed by the next highest, and so on. If a player has multiple shuriken on the stack, only the top one is counted.

Here’s an example to help illustrate: Let’s say the current player order is Tom, Mike, Eve, and Brandon. During this round, Brandon places a shuriken in the dojo. Later, Mike places his shuriken on top of Brandon’s. However, Tom and Eve choose not to place any shuriken. Therefore, the stack of shuriken, from top to bottom, is Mike – Brandon. In the next round, the player order will be Mike, Brandon, Tom, and Eve.

The Clan Houses

In order to gain treasure, we must invade houses. Each house is guarded, with one guard known as the Sentry and the others being surprises. Defeating a guard allows you to acquire a piece of treasure, which is then placed on your shuriken.

So here’s what you can do: you have the choice to stay and fight the next guard, or you can leave and move on to the next treasure. If you decide to take on the next guard, all you have to do is call Banzai. If you successfully defeat all the guards in a house, you’ll be lowering the honor level of the clan that currently owns the house, and at the same time, you’ll be boosting the honor of the clan that’s going to take it over.

Did you know that treasures in houses have different values ranging from 2 to 5 honor? Well, they do! And, guess what? Gold is considered the most valuable treasure among them, even though its value can vary.

Now, let me tell you something about treasure tokens. The plain side of a treasure token means that it is protected by a normal guard. On the other hand, the red side indicates an elite guard. So, you can see that there are different levels of protection for these treasures.

When it comes to defeating guards and claiming treasures, there is a particular order to follow. First, you take the plain treasures, starting from the least valuable and working your way up. Once you’re done with those, you move on to the red side treasures, again starting from the least valuable and moving up.

Now, let’s talk about guards. They also have different values, ranging from 1 to 5. So, you need to strategize and be prepared to face guards of varying strengths.

#image.jpg

#image.jpg

Imagine a typical house controlled by the Taira clan. I see a samurai standing guard at the entrance, ready to protect the precious scroll inside. It’s the lowest value treasure, but still important. And there are two other treasures inside: a beautiful vase and a shining bar of gold. But who is guarding them?

Choosing Your Approach

Now it’s time for me to make my move. I need to decide whether to use strength or stealth. I place a shuriken on the side of the house that matches my chosen approach.

#image.jpgIf I choose strength, I must have a dojo card with a higher value than the guard’s card.

#image.jpgIf I choose stealth, I must have a dojo card with a lower value than the guard’s card.

Remember, ties don’t count as a win!

Let’s say I have these cards in my hand:

I’ve got a sneaky trick up my sleeve, so I carefully position my shuriken in the perfect hidden spot. Take a look at the image below to see where I place it.

#image.jpg

To outsmart the 5 sentries, I make a move with my trusty weapon. Take a look at the image below to see which one I choose.

#image.jpg

Alright, I’m gonna take that scroll, the lowest value plain side treasure, and put it right on my shuriken. But hold on, I’m leaving that sentry on the house for now.

Now, I gotta make a quick call to Banzai. This means I’m telling another player at the table to flip up a regular guard because there are plain side up treasures in the house.

Uh-oh, they just turned up a 1 guard! No worries, though. I’ll play my ninja card and my edge card -1 as a kicker to defeat this guard. Smart move, right? Now, I’ll take the least valuable plain side treasure that’s left, the vase. My collection is coming along nicely.

The Kicker

Alright, here’s the deal with the kickers. You can play a 3 dojo card just like any other dojo card. No biggie, right? But here’s the kicker (pun intended), you can also play a kicker card along with your dojo card. The kicker adds a +1 or -1 to the value of the dojo card. And guess what? You can even play multiple kickers on the same dojo card. Pretty cool, huh?

Calling Banzai

Let’s talk about something called a “Banzai” decision. Now, when you say “Banzai,” you’re telling another player to turn up a guard card, because you’re feeling confident and you want to try to defeat it. You go, brave ninja!

But listen up, if you call Banzai and you can’t defeat the guard card, well, that’s a failure. And here’s what happens. You only get to take one treasure from your shuriken, and you have to discard any other treasures that were on it. Bummer, right? Now, if you’re not feeling so brave and you decide to leave instead of calling Banzai, you get to take all the treasures from your shuriken. Nice, huh? Either way, though, you gotta leave any remaining treasures in the house. No sneakiness allowed!

Alarm

When I activate an alarm guard, I immediately take one treasure from the bag and place it face-up in the house. Then, I choose the most valuable face-up treasure in the house and turn it to the red side.

So, when an alarm is activated, it not only adds more treasure to the house but also ensures that the best treasure is protected by an elite guard card.

The gold is still inside the house! If I decide to pursue it further, I know that I will encounter a guard from the elite deck because the remaining treasure is facing upwards on the red side.

So, I made my decision. I decide to leave, but not before I take the vase, the scroll, and the jade from my shuriken. The gold treasure stays behind, red side up, in the house. I reach into the bag and grab another treasure, placing it plain side up inside the house. The sentry starts to recover but remains inside.

Alarm Shield

Imagine walking into a dark room, feeling a chill down your spine, and suddenly hearing the screeching sound of an alarm. That’s what an alarm shield does for you. It’s like having a personal guardian that keeps you safe and secure.

In a world where security is a top priority, an alarm shield is a must-have. It acts as a sentinel, constantly on the lookout for any potential threats. It’s your first line of defense, ensuring that you are always protected.

So, why should you consider getting an alarm shield? Well, let me break it down for you. First and foremost, it provides peace of mind. Knowing that you have a reliable system in place that will alert you to any danger is incredibly reassuring. It’s like having a superhero watching over you.

But it’s not just about peace of mind. An alarm shield also acts as a deterrent. When would-be intruders see that you have a robust security system in place, they are less likely to target your home or property. It’s like putting up a sign that says, “This place is protected. Don’t even think about it.”

Another benefit of an alarm shield is its ability to notify authorities in case of an emergency. Whether it’s a break-in, a fire, or a medical situation, the alarm shield will automatically trigger a response. It’s like having an invisible safety net that is always there to catch you if you fall.

Furthermore, an alarm shield is customizable to suit your needs. You can choose the level of protection that you require, whether it’s basic monitoring or a comprehensive security system. It’s like having a security consultant who tailors their services according to your specific requirements.

If you’re concerned about false alarms, don’t worry. The latest alarm shields are designed to minimize false positives and ensure that the alerts are genuine. It’s like having a reliable friend who only cries wolf when there’s actually a wolf.

In conclusion, an alarm shield is an essential tool in today’s world. It provides peace of mind, acts as a deterrent, notifies authorities in case of an emergency, and can be customized to meet your needs. So, if you want to sleep soundly at night, knowing that you are protected, consider getting an alarm shield. It’s like having a superhero by your side, ready to defend you at a moment’s notice.

I noticed that some regular guards have an alarm symbol on them. It’s interesting how alarms are ignored on sentry guards. In some cases, when invading a house, you might face multiple elite guard cards, which can be quite unlucky for a ninja like me.

What Happens When I Succeed?

If I manage to defeat all the guards in a house, then I get to take all of the treasure. Additionally, I can replace the clan honor token on the house with a token from one of the other two clans. This means that the house will stay empty for the rest of the round, and the Sentry guard card will be discarded.

What Happens When I Fail or Leave?

If, for some reason, I fail to defeat all the guards in a house, or if I choose to leave before completing the invasion, there are still some consequences. After resolving the treasure on my shuriken, I need to add 1 treasure to the house, with the plain side facing up. The Sentry guard stays on the house and recovers. It’s worth noting that the house can be invaded again during the same round, either by me or by another player.

Keep Defeated Elites!

When I play, any guard cards I use during encounters are discarded afterwards – except for the elite guards I manage to beat. Those ones I keep, and they come in handy for scoring at the end of the game.

Controlling the Clans

So, here’s how it works: each house is assigned a value of either 2, 4, 5, 6, or 8 honor points for a specific clan. Throughout the game, the control of houses changes hands between different clans. You see, whenever you defeat all the guards in a house, the control of that house shifts to another clan.

Now, when this control change happens, you have to return the clan token belonging to the house back to the pile. But don’t worry, you get to replace it with a token from a different clan. The house will stay empty of treasure until the round ends, and no one can place shurikens there in the meantime.

Oh, and there’s one more thing: envoys. These handy folks will give you some serious influence with a clan.

Welcome to The Sensei

Hey there, ninja! If you want to level up your skills, you’ve come to the right place. Just place a shuriken and pay a visit to the sensei. Here’s how it works:

See that card on the skill tile? To learn a new skill, all you have to do is discard a dojo card that matches the style on the tile. Easy, right? But here’s the kicker: if you see a question mark, you can discard any dojo card you want. Cool, huh?

Now, here’s the best part. You can learn skills from different styles. So, once you learn a skill from a certain style – let’s say the snake, tiger, or crane style – you don’t have to discard a dojo card to learn more skills from that same style. You’re already a pro!

Remember, though, you can only use each skill once per round. Once you’ve used a skill, flip the tile face down to show it’s been used. But hey, if you learn the same skill twice, you can use each tile once per round. Talk about a double dose of ninja power! And don’t worry, at the end of the round, all your used skills go back to their original position.

When it comes to most skills, they are designed to help you infiltrate clan houses and gain an advantage. However, there is one skill that stands out from the rest – Hensojutsu, also known as the Disguise skill. It is unique because it is specifically used during the scoring phase of the game.

The Teachings

Let’s talk about how the teachings of this skill work. In the first four rounds of the game, the sensei offers a variety of skills equal to the number of players. This gives everyone a chance to learn and improve.

But as we move into rounds 5-7, things change. The sensei becomes more selective and focuses on teaching just one skill – the Hensojutsu skill – to a single student. This makes it a highly sought-after skill, as only one person can learn it in each game.

Reshuffling Cards

During the course of the game, it’s possible to exhaust the supply of dojo or guard cards. When this happens, don’t worry! You can simply shuffle the discarded cards and create a fresh deck to continue playing.

If you use this card in a dojo, it will lower your score by 2 points.

“Imagine disappearing in a cloud of smoke, like a gentle breeze slipping past a guard.”

When you give a +1 or a -1 to a dojo card, you are essentially deciding its fate. It’s like having the power to shape the way of the open hand. This action carries great significance and can greatly impact the overall meaning and interpretation of the card.

Think of it as a double-edged sword. On one hand, a +1 can elevate the dojo card, giving it more weight and influence. It shows that the card resonates with you and aligns with your vision and values. It’s a way of saying, “Yes, this card is valuable and deserves recognition.”

On the other hand, a -1 can have the opposite effect. It indicates that the card doesn’t quite hit the mark for you. It may not align with your beliefs or goals, or maybe it’s just not as impactful or relevant as other cards. It’s a way of saying, “No, this card doesn’t resonate with me and doesn’t deserve as much attention.”

Choosing whether to give a +1 or a -1 to a dojo card requires careful thought and consideration. It’s important to take into account your own preferences and values, as well as the intended meaning and message of the card. What is the card trying to convey? How does it align with your own journey and aspirations?

As you navigate through the dojo, remember that the power to give a +1 or a -1 rests in your hands. It’s up to you to interpret and assign meaning to the cards you encounter. By following your intuition and staying true to your own path, you can ensure that your dojo experience is meaningful and enriching.

So, the next time you come across a dojo card, ask yourself: Does this card deserve a +1 or a -1?

It’s a decision only you can make, but it’s one that holds great power and significance. Trust yourself and embrace the role of the interpreter.

#image.jpg

When you use this item, it will give you a +2 bonus on any dojo card you have. It’s like a secret weapon that can help you win battles in the dojo. So, the next time you’re playing a game and you have a dojo card, don’t forget to use this item to boost your chances of winning.

As the saying goes, “Distraction is a sword.” And this item is the perfect example of that. It can be a powerful tool if used correctly, but it can also be a double-edged sword if not used wisely. So, make sure to think carefully before using it and consider the potential consequences. However, with its ability to elevate your performance in the dojo, it’s definitely something worth having in your arsenal.

#image.jpg

Hey there! So, here’s the deal. I’ve got a nifty trick up my sleeve that I’d like to share with you. It involves this fancy little code snippet: Changes the value of a played dojo card to 0.

Pretty cool, right? This code will come in handy when you want to work some magic and make a dojo card completely worthless. It’s like being an artist of shadow, manipulating the game in your favor.

#image.jpg

Imagine this: you get to play a 2 or 4 dojo card, even if you didn’t really have one. It feels like you’re pulling off a sneaky move, like an “inventive devil of a trickster”. It’s a clever little trick that can really shake things up in the game.

#image.jpg

Do you know what’s really cool? I found this awesome feature that lets you do something amazing in a game. It’s called “Changes the value of a played dojo card to 6.” How awesome does that sound? I mean, just think about it – you can completely change the game strategy by tweaking the value of a single card. That’s pretty mind-blowing, right?

Picture this: you’re in the middle of a game, and things are getting intense. You’ve got a bunch of cards in your hand, but none of them are quite what you need to turn the tide in your favor. Well, worry no more! With this feature, you can take any dojo card you’ve already played and give it a value of 6. That’s right – 6! Suddenly, that card becomes a game-changer.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – this feature must be super complicated, right? Wrong! It’s actually really simple to use. All you have to do is activate it, and boom! Your card’s value magically becomes 6. It’s like waving a wand and making things go your way.

So, why is this feature so important? Well, let me tell you. When you’re playing a game, every move counts. Sometimes, all it takes is one game-changing move to turn the tide in your favor. And that’s exactly what this feature allows you to do – it gives you the power to completely change the game with just one card.

But wait, there’s more! This feature isn’t just about changing the value of a card. It’s also about giving you an edge over your opponents. Think about it – if you can change the value of a card to 6, imagine the possibilities. You can elevate your game to a whole new level and leave your opponents scrambling to catch up.

So, what are you waiting for? If you’re looking for a game-changer, this feature is it. With just a simple tweak, you can take your game to the next level and leave everyone else in awe. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll never want to play without it.

#image.jpg

Imagine this: during a mission to invade a house, I have the power to swap one treasure on my shuriken with any treasure in that house. It’s like a game-changing move that I can make at any time, even after a failed attempt.

Here’s the catch – if I exchange a red-side-up treasure from the house with a plain-side-up treasure on my shuriken, I have to flip the most valuable treasure in the house to its red side.

It’s kind of like the heightened senses of a scout, allowing me to strategically make this swap and potentially gain an advantage.

#image.jpg

When it comes to skills, there’s one that stands out from the rest: Henojutsu, also known as Disguise. But have you ever thought about flipping a different skill face up? That’s right, you can choose any skill except Henojutsu and give it a chance to shine.

Imagine the possibilities! With just a simple flip, you can unlock new strategies and surprise your opponents. It’s like having a secret weapon up your sleeve.

So how does it work? Let me break it down for you. When it’s your turn, you have the power to choose any skill and flip it face up. This means you can use that skill again in the same round.

But why would you want to do that? Well, let me tell you. Flipping a skill gives you the opportunity to catch your opponents off guard. They’ll never see it coming! Plus, it adds an element of surprise and excitement to the game.

Just think about it. You could be playing a game of strategy and suddenly unleash a powerful attack with a skill that no one saw coming. It’s like turning the tables and taking control of the game.

So next time you’re playing and you have the chance to flip a skill, don’t hesitate. Embrace the power of Henojutsu and let your imagination run wild. You never know what kind of amazing things can happen when you think “mind over body”.

#image.jpg

Change your approach, shift gears, adapt to the situation – that’s the key. When you encounter a guard card, you have the power to switch your attack strategy. It’s like flipping a switch from stealth to strength, or from strength to stealth. And here’s the best part: once you make the switch, it holds for all the guards in the house.

Remember this quote: “The active mind must be clear.” It’s a simple yet profound reminder that being flexible and open to change is crucial in the heat of battle.

When one of my bribed envoys, who has the mask symbol, gains 1 additional influence, it’s like a magic trick becoming real. The power and deception of their illusion can have a profound impact on the game.

The Palace is where the action unfolds. By placing a shuriken next to the palace, I can bribe an envoy by discarding matching treasures. Not only do I gain the envoy, but I also score points based on the value of those treasures, adding to my honor.

During each scoring phase, the players with the most and second most envoys in each clan have an opportunity to earn additional honor or a Rumor card. However, if there is a tie, the player with the oldest envoy in that clan takes the prize. It’s a race to secure the most envoys and maintain their loyalty.

#image.jpg

Bribing Envoys

When an envoy is presented with specific treasures, you have to give up those treasures. Let’s say the Envoy card shows a fan and a jade. You must discard a fan and a jade, and you’ll immediately score 7 honor.

Other envoys may require different types of treasures and score different amounts of honor. For example, an envoy might need 1 of any treasure plus 3 of the same kind. You can bribe this envoy with 1 vase and 3 jade for 19 honor, or 4 fans for 8 honor, or even 1 scroll and 3 vases for 15 honor. The possibilities are endless!

Gold Is Wild

Gold is a wildcard that can substitute for any treasure you want. It scores as that treasure. Continuing with the previous example, you could bribe the envoy with 1 fan, 2 vases, and 1 gold. In this case, the gold would replace one of the vases. You would score 14 honor.

Spent Treasure

If you run out of treasure in the bag, don’t worry! You can still find discarded treasure in a pile off the game board. Just put the discarded treasure back into play.

Secret Whispers

When you buy a Rumor card, you have the option to keep it hidden until the end of the game. Only Rumor cards and Dojo cards can be kept secret from other players.

The Gathering Spot

The Pavilion is a special place where you can spread positive rumors among the nobility. To do this, place a shuriken near the pavilion and choose 1 or 2 treasures indicated on the rumor card. Discard the chosen treasures and take the rumor card. Just like with Envoys, you will immediately earn honor based on the value of the treasures you spent. Keep in mind that some rumors can be bought with any treasure, while others require specific treasures.

Rumors are most effective when they have some truth to them. For example, if you have one or more “Greatest Warrior” rumor cards, you’ll score the most points if you have defeated many elite guard cards.

Wrapping Up a Round

When a round comes to an end, here’s what happens:

Shuffling the Order: The Dojo shuriken stack plays a crucial role in determining the player order for the next round. The player who has the topmost shuriken goes first, followed by the next person in line, and so on. For those who didn’t place any shuriken in the dojo, their positions relative to each other do not change. Once the order is established, everyone gathers their shuriken.

Starting Fresh: It’s time to reset the skills. Flip all your skills tiles face up, ready for the next round.

Reviving the Sensei: Any leftover face-up skills are discarded. To replace them, draw a number of skill tiles equal to the number of players from the large stack and place them face up. Any remaining skills in the large stack after the fourth round are removed from play. From the fifth round onwards, one Hensojutsu (Disguise) skill tile from the small stack is revealed and placed face up.

Hey there! Let me guide you through the fascinating world of board games. Today, I want to talk about the intricate mechanics behind reset cleared houses, refill palace and pavilion, and scoring phases in a game.

First things first, let’s dive into the concept of reset cleared houses. When all guards in a house have been defeated and there are no more treasures left, it’s time to reset. I mean, who doesn’t love a fresh start, right? So, in this game, we’ll draw out and place three treasures with their plain side up on the cleared house. Makes sense, doesn’t it? But that’s not all! We also need to add a new guard to the house, and this new guard takes on the role of the Sentry. Just like that, we’re ready for a new round of action! Oh, and by the way, if the Sentry happens to be an alarm guard, no need to worry about the alarm being triggered again. We won’t add an additional treasure for that.

Now, let’s move on to the refill palace and pavilion. These are fancy places, and we need to keep them stocked, you know? If the Palace doesn’t have enough Envoys, not to worry! We’ll draw and turn up Envoys until there are four of them in the Palace. Same goes for the rumors in the Pavilion, we won’t let them run dry. We’ll make sure they’re replenished too.

Alright, sit tight because we’re about to get into the nitty-gritty of scoring phases. So, after each third, fifth, and seventh round, brace yourself for the scoring phase. This is the moment where game-changing points are awarded, so pay close attention. But wait, there’s more! After the seventh round, we’re in for a treat. We have the end-of-game bonus scoring to look forward to. Now that’s what I call a thrilling finale!

Scores All Around!

After the 3rd, 5th, and 7th rounds, it’s time to bring out the scorecards. This is when we calculate our points and see who’s leading the pack. It adds a whole new level of excitement to the game, trust me. So, keep your eyes peeled for these scoring phases – they’re game-changers!

So, here’s the thing about clans. The folks who come in first and second place for envoy influence get a little something-something. You see, each envoy in a clan counts as 1 influence in that clan. Now, when there’s a tie, it’s the player with the oldest envoy in the clan who comes out on top. Can you believe it?

Alright, let’s get started! I’m gonna explain how to play this awesome game, so listen up. First off, we all take our turns in a specific order. If you’ve got the Hensojutsu (Disguise) skill, you can pick which envoy from your team you wanna go after. Just make sure to choose one with the right icon, alright?

Now, here’s the fun part. You get rewarded based on the order of the clans on the round track. Let’s say we’re in round 3, so Go-Shirakawa gets rewarded first, followed by Taira, and finally Minamoto. Got it? Good. We start by rewarding the first place player for each clan, and then move on to second place for each clan in order.

Now, if you’ve got the most envoy influence in a particular clan, you get a choice. You can either score all the honor on that clan’s houses, or you can snag yourself a free Rumor card from the Pavilion. But remember, no treasure is needed or scored for a free rumor. Oh, and after the first place player makes their choice, the second place player gets whatever the first player didn’t want.

Just a quick reminder, Rumors don’t count towards your score until the end of the game. So, keep that in mind as you strategize.

Oh, and don’t forget to refill the Pavilion!

When the game is coming to a close, you’ll want to make sure that the Pavilion is fully restocked with new Rumor cards. This is an important step to take after each scoring phase ends.

Wrapping Up

Once the last round is over and the final Scoring Phase is complete, it’s time for the End of Game Bonus Scoring.

This bonus scoring applies to Rumors, Unused Treasure, and Defeated Elite Guards.

Rumor Bonus Scoring

Most rumor cards work as a “multiplier” for another type of collectible – a complete “set” consists of 3 cards. If you have 1 rumor of a specific type, the multiplier is x1.

If you manage to gather 2 rumors of the same type, the multiplier becomes x2. On the other hand, if you have 3 rumors of the same type, the multiplier jumps to x4. If you happen to collect more than 3 rumors of the same type, that counts as starting a new set.

“Dishonorable Opponents”

These cards score in a unique way – there is no multiplier involved. If you are the only player with a Rumor card of this type, each card will score you 6 honor.

So, here’s the thing. If you and another player both have this Rumor card, each card is worth 4 honor for you. Pretty cool, huh? But here’s where it gets even more interesting. If three or more players have this type of Rumor card, each card is only worth 2 honor for you. Still not bad, right?

Bonus Scoring for Unused Treasures

Now, let’s talk about those treasures you have left at the end of the game. No matter what type of treasure it is, you get 1 honor for each one that you still have. So, don’t forget to count those treasures!

Bonus Scoring for Defeating Elites

Defeating those elite guards during the game? Well, that’s quite the accomplishment. And for each one you defeat, you get a bonus! The elite guard will tell you how much honor you receive – it can be either 1 or 2 honor. So make sure to keep track of those elite defeats!

How to Win

Now, I know you’re dying to know who gets to wear the crown of victory, am I right? Well, get ready for this. The player with the most honor wins the game! Yes, that’s right – honor is the key to victory! So, if you want to be the big winner, make sure you have the most honor when the game ends.

But wait, what if there’s a tie? Don’t worry, my friend. We’ve got that covered too. In the case of a tie, the player with the most envoys takes the victory. And if there’s still a tie, then it comes down to the player with the oldest envoy in any clan. So, make sure to gather those envoys and keep an eye on the history of your clan!
