Hello there! Are you ready to learn all about the thrilling Mouse Trap game? Well, you’ve come to the right place!
Now, let’s dive in and uncover the rules of this exciting game that will have you on the edge of your seat.
Setting up the Mouse Trap game
First things first, to start playing the Mouse Trap game, you’ll need to set up the board. Take the time to carefully follow these steps:
- Place the game board on a flat surface. Make sure there’s enough room for all the fun to unfold!
- Connect the mouse trap to the board. It’s the heart of the game and will keep you guessing at every turn.
- Place the cheese pieces on the designated spots on the board. These yummy treats will lure the mice into the trap.
- Divide the mouse pawns equally among the players. Now everyone will have their own furry friend to guide through the maze.
Playing the Mouse Trap game
Alright, now that we’ve got everything ready, it’s time to start playing! Here’s how it goes:
- Decide who goes first. You can flip a coin, play rock-paper-scissors, or simply take turns.
- On your turn, roll the die and move your mouse pawn that number of spaces. The colorful cheese wheel will determine which spot your mouse lands on.
- Follow the instructions on the cheese wheel. It might tell you to turn a crank, take a cheese piece, or even set free a fellow mouse!
- Be careful! The mouse trap is always lurking. If you land on a trap space, you’ll have to carefully follow the instructions and see what happens.
- Keep taking turns, rolling the die, and moving your mouse pawn until one lucky player captures all the mice!
Winning the Mouse Trap game
Victory is sweet, my friend! To win the Mouse Trap game, you need to be the first player to capture all the mice. Once you’ve done that, celebrate your triumphant feat and embrace the glory!
I hope you’re as excited as I am about the Mouse Trap game. Get ready for hours of heart-pounding fun and don’t forget to strategize and outsmart your opponents!
Hey there! Let’s have some fun with Mouse Trap, a game where we take turns building the ultimate mousetrap and try to catch each other’s mice.
The goal of the game is to be the only mouse left uncaptured on the gameboard, so let’s get started and see who will be the champion!
How does the mouse trap work?
When I play Mouse Trap, I turn the crank (A). It spins the gears (B) and moves the lever (C). The lever pushes the stop sign against the shoe (D), which tips the bucket holding the metal marble (E).
The marble rolls down the rickety stairs (F) and into the rain gutter (G). It then travels through the helping hand rod (H). This makes another metal marble (I) fall from the top of the helping hand rod. The marble goes through the thing-a-ma-jig (J) and lands in the bathtub (K), finally resting on the diving board (L).
The weight of the metal marble on the diving board catapults the diver (M) through the air. The diver lands in the washtub (N), causing the cage (O) to fall from the top of the post (P) and trap the unsuspecting mouse.
Now, let me guide you through setting up the game:
1. Find a flat surface for the gameboard.
2. Arrange the Mouse Trap parts and playing pieces next to the gameboard.
3. Keep the Cheese pieces in a pile next to the gameboard.
Get ready for an exciting game of Mouse Trap!
- First, each player needs to choose a mouse and put it on the START space on the gameboard. Make sure everyone has a mouse.
How to Play
Let’s decide who goes first. We’ll take turns going to the left.
When it’s your turn, roll the die and move your mouse the number of spaces shown on the gameboard. Then, read and do whatever it says on the space you land on. Remember, there can be more than one mouse on the same space.
Getting Cheese: As your mouse moves around the gameboard, you’ll get some Cheese pieces from the pile and from other players. You can use these Cheese pieces later in the game to trap your opponents’ mice. I’ll explain more about this later.
Types of Spaces
Build Spaces
Build spaces have numbers printed on them. When I land on a Build space and the number of players in the game matches any one of the numbers on the space, I get to build a part of the Mouse Trap and collect one Cheese piece from the Cheese pile.
- If there are 4 players in the game, I can build if I land on Build space 2-3-4.
- If there are 3 players in the game, I can build if I land on Build space 2-3 or 2-3-4.
- If there are 2 players in the game, I can build if I land on Build space 2, 2-3, or 2-3-4.
Go Back & Move Ahead Spaces
When I land on one of these spaces, I must go to the space indicated, but I don’t need to follow any instructions printed on that space or collect any Cheese pieces. My turn is then over.
Take Cheese Spaces
Hey there! So, here’s the deal. When you land on one of these spaces, you snatch the number of Cheese pieces specified from the Cheese pile. Simple enough, right? But here’s the twist: if the Cheese pile is totally empty, you gotta nab the Cheese pieces from the opponent who has the most of them.
If multiple opponents are tied for the most Cheese pieces, you’ve got some options. You can either swipe all the pieces from one opponent or share the love by divvying them up between them. It’s up to you! Just remember that your turn ends as soon as you’ve taken your Cheese loot.
Now, pay attention to this space. When you land on the glorious “Take Three Pieces of Cheese From Rival With Most” spot, you gotta do exactly what it says. It doesn’t matter if there are Cheese pieces left in the pile — you’re still taking three from the opponent with the most. But hold up! If they have less than three pieces, you’ll just take the number they have. Fair is fair, right?
And what happens if multiple opponents are tied for the highest Cheese count? Well, my friend, you’ve got the same options as before. Take ’em all from one opponent or divide them equally. It’s up to you to decide!
Lose Cheese Spaces
When you land on one of these spaces, you have to give back the number of Cheese pieces that is shown and return them to the Cheese pile. If you have fewer Cheese pieces than what you need to return, just give back as many as you have. Then your turn is finished.
Dog Bone Space
When you land on this space, you don’t have to do anything. Your turn ends right away.
The Loop
The Loop consists of six spaces. It starts with the Safe space and ends with the Cheese Wheel space. This is where mice can be caught.
Once you reach The Loop, you and your opponents will take turns going around it until the Mouse Trap is fully built and there is only one mouse left that hasn’t been caught. See the Trapping Mice section on page 4 for more information.
Cheese Wheel Space
When you land on the Cheese Wheel space, you get a special bonus – two pieces of Cheese for free!
But wait, what if there’s no more Cheese left in the pile? Don’t worry, you can still get your Cheese fix. You can take any pieces of Cheese that you’re supposed to get from the opponent who has the most Cheese. And if there’s a tie for the most Cheese, you get to choose whether you want to take it all from one opponent or split it between them.
Turn Crank Space And Safe Space
Now, let’s talk about the Turn Crank space and the Safe space. But before we do that, let’s take a look at the Trapping Mice section below for more juicy details.
Creating the Mouse Trap
When I land on a Build space, I can start building the Mouse Trap. It’s important to assemble the Mouse Trap parts in the right order, following the Building Plan.
For example, let’s say I’m the first player to land on a Build space. I would place part #1 (Base A) on the game board. The next player to land on a Build space would then add part #2 (Gear Support), and so on, until the Mouse Trap is fully built.
Once I place a part of the Mouse Trap on the game board, I can take one Cheese piece from the pile. Then, my turn is over.
When you come across a Build space on The Loop in the game, something interesting happens. You get to add two parts to the Mouse Trap and take two Cheese pieces from the Cheese pile. It’s like a little bonus for you! But that’s not all, because after that, it’s time for the next player to take their turn. Once the Mouse Trap is fully assembled, things change. When you land on a Build space now, nothing happens. It’s like the Mouse Trap is done and ready to catch some mice!
Catching those Mice
Hey there! So, once you’ve finished building the Mouse Trap, it’s time to put it to use and try to catch your opponents’ mice. Here’s what you need to do:
When your turn ends and you land on the Turn Crank space (in The Loop), while there’s an opposing mouse on the Cheese Wheel space, turn the crank slowly in a clockwise direction.
As you turn the crank, the trap will start moving. If everything goes according to plan, the opposing mouse will get trapped and is out of the game. And guess what? Any Cheese pieces that the captured player had are now yours!
However, if the trap fails to catch the mouse, the opposing player immediately moves his or her mouse to the Safe space. If there’s more than one mouse on the Cheese Wheel space, they can all be caught or missed together.
Now, if there’s no opposing mouse (or mice) on the Cheese Wheel space, don’t worry! You can try to lure one or more mice there. Just check out the Moving Opponents1 Mice section that comes next.
Reminder: You can only turn the crank once the Mouse Trap is fully assembled and when your mouse lands on the Turn Crank space and there’s an opponent on the Cheese Wheel space.
Moving Your Opponent’s Mice
When you finish your turn by landing on the Turn Crank space and there’s no opponent’s mouse on the Cheese Wheel space, you can try to move one of their mice onto the Cheese Wheel space and then attempt to trap it. Here’s how you can do it:
- Put a Cheese piece back into the pile.
- Select the opponent’s mouse that you want to move.
- Roll the die and move the chosen opponent’s mouse the number of spaces indicated on the die.
Hey there! So, here’s the deal: you can keep doing this trick as many times as you want, with as many opponents as you want, as long as you have enough cheese pieces left. When you manage to move a mouse (or mice) onto the Cheese wheel, you can then turn the crank just like I described before.
Now, you can only use your cheese pieces when you’re on the Turn Crank space. But here’s the interesting part: even if there’s an opponent’s mouse on the Cheese Wheel space when you land on the Turn Crank space, you can still use your cheese pieces to try and get other opponents’ mice onto the Cheese Wheel space before setting the Mouse Trap in motion. Fun, right?
Safe Space:
Oh, and there’s a rule: when an opponent’s mouse is on the Safe space (which is located on The Loop), you can’t try to move that mouse onto the Cheese Wheel space. Guess we need to play fair sometimes!
End of the Game
Now, pay attention because this is important. If your mouse is the last one left uncaptured on the gameboard, you’re the winner! How cool is that?
