What’s this game all about?

I think this game is best played with teams. You can choose to form two or more teams, depending on how many people want to play.

Getting Set Up

First things first, we need to shuffle all the cards with the red backs. Once shuffled, place them in a pile with the backs facing up.

Next, we’ll take the cards with blue backs, also known as the twins, and spread them out on the table. Make sure the monster side is facing up. Now, put the hourglass and the two dice beside the cards.

Alright, now it’s time to build our teams and get ready to play!

How to Play the Game (4 Players)

Once they throw the dice, the game begins. Each player will take turns rolling the dice and moving their game piece along the board. The objective is to reach the finish line before anyone else.

But here’s the catch – the path to victory is not always straightforward. There are obstacles and challenges along the way that you must overcome. It’s a test of skill, strategy, and a little bit of luck.

As you progress through the game, you’ll encounter different spaces on the board. Some spaces may give you an advantage, while others may set you back. It’s important to plan your moves carefully and make the best choices to stay ahead.

I’m going to tell you about the dice. They’re pretty important in this game. When we play, we use the dice to decide which monster features we can’t talk about. This adds a twist to the game because everyone can see the dice and make sure we follow the rules. We don’t want to accidentally mention any “forbidden characteristics.”

So, picture this: there’s an hourglass, right? It runs for 60 seconds. Boom. Then, you turn it around. And now, it’s game time. The players on my team have to use that precious time to find as many twins as they can. Easy peasy, right?

Here’s how it goes down: I take the top card from the red pile, and I’ve gotta hustle to explain all the cool stuff about the monster on that card. But there’s a catch – I can’t mention any of the forbidden characteristics. No siree. I can use any hints, facial expressions, or gestures I want, as long as I play by the rules.

While I’m busy describing the monster, the rest of my squad has their eyes peeled, scanning the spread-out cards on the table, searching for the monster’s twin. It’s a real team effort.

But here’s the kicker: my teammates can ask me questions. Sneaky, right? I’ve gotta be careful though because I can’t spill the beans on any of those forbidden characteristics.

My team can chat and strategize, talk it out. But eventually, they’ve gotta make a decision. They’ve gotta touch the card and commit to a monster.

Here’s how the game works:

1. If we correctly identify the monster, we collect the twin cards and keep going.
2. If the monster we touch doesn’t have a match, we leave it on the table and put the card back in the pile. Then, the next player draws a new card. There’s always just one attempt.
3. If we mention one of the “forbidden characteristics” and the other team catches us, we put the card back and start with a new one.

Once the hourglass is up, it’s the next team’s turn to describe and guess. We keep rotating until we find all the matching twins.





Example:

The dice show the symbols “Number” + “Horns and ears”

Correct:

The player explains: “My monster is blue, has hair, legs, teeth and the mouth is closed”. The team searches for this features and hopefully finds the right monster.

Wrong:

The player explains: “My monster is blue, has hair, legs, teeth and two ears..”. In this case the opponent team has to intervene immediately and shout “Stop” as it is not allowed in this round to mention or describe a “Number” as well as “Horns and ears”.

Now the next monster is drawn from the red, face down pile – continue with the next card!

End of the Game

As soon as all twins have been found the teams com- pare the cards they won by putting them side to side in a pile.

The team with the highest pile wins the game.

It’s a lot of fun trying to figure it out!

But here’s the catch: you’re not allowed to mention or describe a “Number” or “Horns and ears” for that round. If anyone accidentally mentions them, the other team has to shout “Stop” right away. They’re considered off-limits. Once the round is over, the next monster card is drawn, and the game continues.

At the End of the Game

When all the matching pairs have been found, the teams look at the cards they’ve won and put them in a pile side by side to compare. The team with the biggest pile wins the game! It’s such a thrill to see who comes out on top.
