Mint Delivery Solo Rules
Introduction
Hey there! If you’re interested in playing Mint Delivery by yourself, I’ve got you covered. In this guide, I’ll walk you through the solo rules for the game. So grab your mints and let’s dive in!
Goal
The goal of Mint Delivery is to deliver as many mints as you can before time runs out. You’ll take on the role of a mint delivery driver, navigating the city and making deliveries to different locations.
Setup
To get started, set up the game board and place the delivery truck on the starting space. Shuffle the delivery locations and place three of them face up next to the board. These are the locations you’ll be delivering to.
Turns
On your turn, you’ll first check if there are any active orders. If there are, you’ll resolve them. To resolve an order, simply move your truck to the corresponding location and discard the required mints from your supply. Then, flip the delivery location face down.
After resolving any active orders, you’ll have two options: move your truck or restock mints. Moving your truck allows you to deliver to a new location or pick up more mints. Restocking mints lets you draw three mints from the supply and add them to your inventory.
Time
Time is an important factor in Mint Delivery. You’ll start the game with a set amount of time, which is represented by the mint icons on the time track. Whenever you deliver to a location, remove one mint icon from the time track. If time runs out, your game is over.
Scoring
At the end of the game, you’ll score points based on the number of deliveries you made and any special bonuses you earned. The player with the highest score wins!
Wrap-Up
And there you have it! Those are the solo rules for Mint Delivery. Whether you’re a seasoned board game player or new to the hobby, playing Mint Delivery solo is a fun and challenging experience. So why not give it a try? Grab your mints, hit the road, and start delivering!
So, once you’ve got everything ready to go, your play area is going to look a little something like this:
Actions in Solitaire
You and the AI each have the option to perform up to two actions. You can do these actions in any order, and you can even do the same action twice if you want. The AI’s choices are based on its current motivation.
Just like in the multiplayer version of the game, fulfilling orders doesn’t count towards your two-action limit. It’s a free action that you can do anytime.
Move
You have the freedom to move your truck to any space that’s connected to the space where your truck currently is. The AI, on the other hand, will always move along the shortest path. It only moves when its motivation requires it to (check out “AI Motivations” for more information).
Fulfill Order (Free Action)
When you have Incomplete Orders in front of you, you can complete them by going to the Action Space for the town listed on the Order. Take the required type and quantity of mints from your truck and return them to the Mint Supply. Remember to be on the right town!
Once you’ve completed an Order, turn it face down to show that it’s done. Whether you complete the Order or the AI does, you get all the mints turned in. Now you can place those mints on the back of the belts. Just make sure not to put more than 10 mints on either belt when you complete the action.
Loading Mints
So here’s the deal: I’ll tell you all about how the player and the AI handle adding mints to their trucks. It’s pretty straightforward, but there are a few rules we need to follow.
First off, both the player and the AI can only add mints from the four mints at the front of the conveyor belts. And guess what? You can only load mints from the belt that’s right next to you. Fair enough, right?
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. The AI can choose to load mints from either of the belts, but they can only do so from their special AI Only loading space. And let me tell you, they’ve got options! They can load four Classic mints, two Sugar Free mints, or one Cinnamon mint. Talk about variety!
But wait, let’s not forget about the gaps. If there are any gaps on the belt, we gotta fill ’em in. How? Simple. Just shift the mints backward to fill those empty spaces. And here’s a handy nugget of info: the AI will load mints from right to left, starting with their oldest order first.
Now, let’s talk about taking orders. Ready?
I can choose one of the face-up orders from four Order Decks and place it in front of me. The AI will also pick an order based on its preference.
If there’s a tie, we both take the order with the highest point value. If there’s still a tie, we both take the leftmost order.
Once I take an order, the next order in that deck is revealed. I can only have three Active Orders, and the AI can have Active Orders equal to its Workload value.
Now, let’s talk about Shift Mints.
When I’m on a Loading space, I can move up to two mints from the front of the belt I’m next to, to the back of that same belt. The AI will do the same and move the front mint from each belt to the back.
Lastly, there’s the AI Card.
AI Motivations
When it’s my turn to make decisions as an AI, I have certain rules that help me make consistent choices. These rules determine what I do with my turn.
Complete Orders
Firstly, if I have enough mints to fulfill all of the orders I have, I will do so. My main motivation at this stage is to complete all of my orders successfully.
Take Orders
If I don’t have enough active orders to match my active order count, I will try to take more orders until I do. Once I have enough orders to match my active order count, my motivation shifts to getting more mints.
Get Mints
If I don’t have enough mints to fulfill all the orders I have, I’ll keep loading mints until I do. My truck can hold as many mints as needed. Once I have enough mints for all the orders, my goal shifts to completing those orders.
If I don’t need any of the mints on the belts, I’ll use the Shift Mints action and move one mint from each belt to the back.
There may be times when I can’t satisfy my current goal. In that case, I’ll come to a stop until I can fulfill my goal. Finding a way to make me do this is crucial to defeating me.
The Game Ends
- The game comes to an end when three out of the four order decks run out of cards.
- I, the AI, will take the last turn.
- You and I both get all the stars on our orders.
- The person with the highest score wins! We’ll use the same rules to break any ties.
