Welcome to the Lupus in Tabula Game!
Introduction
Hey there! I want to tell you about an exciting game called Lupus in Tabula. It’s a game that involves strategy, deduction, and teamwork. So, let’s dive right in and learn all about it!
The Objective
The game is set in a village where werewolves live among the innocent villagers. Here’s the catch – you don’t know who the werewolves are! The goal is simple: as a villager, you must identify and eliminate the hidden werewolves before they take over the village. But be careful – if you accuse the wrong person, an innocent villager might pay the price!
Gameplay
Now, let’s talk about how the game is played. Each player is assigned a hidden role, either a villager or a werewolf. The game is divided into two phases: day and night.
During the day, all players discuss and debate who they think the werewolves might be. You can share information, point fingers, and try to convince others of your innocence. Once the discussion is over, the players vote on who they believe is a werewolf. The player with the most votes is “eliminated” from the game, and their role is revealed.
At night, the remaining players go to sleep, and the werewolves wake up. Together, they choose one villager to eliminate. Then morning comes, and the villagers discover who didn’t make it through the night.
The game alternates between day and night phases until one group is completely eliminated – either the werewolves or the villagers. The ultimate goal is to create a harmonious village by getting rid of all the werewolves.
Strategy and Deduction
To succeed in Lupus in Tabula, you need to be sharp and observant. Pay close attention to the conversations during the day phase. Look for inconsistencies, contradictions, or suspicious behavior among your fellow players. Sometimes, people reveal themselves unintentionally through their words.
As a villager, it’s crucial to trust your instincts and make persuasive arguments during the day. Try to find patterns and connections among the players’ behaviors. But remember, the werewolves are trying to blend in and avoid detection. They might manipulate the discussion to throw you off track.
On the other hand, if you’re a werewolf, your goal is to deceive the villagers and win their trust. Pretend to be a regular villager, participate in the conversations, and try to stir suspicion towards innocent villagers. Be careful not to get caught, though. The villagers are constantly scrutinizing everyone’s every move.
Teamwork is Key
Lupus in Tabula is all about teamwork. As a villager, you need to collaborate with other players to identify the werewolves. Together, you can share information, use deduction, and vote strategically to eliminate the hidden threats.
Remember, communication is vital. Discuss your suspicions, listen to others’ opinions, and work together to unravel the mysteries of the village. Through collaboration and cooperation, you can increase your chances of victory.
In Conclusion
So now you know all about the Lupus in Tabula game! It’s a thrilling and challenging experience that will put your deduction and social skills to the test. Gather your friends, form a circle, and embark on the journey of unraveling werewolf secrets.

Let the games begin!
Are you ready to join the battle between the Werewolves and the Humans? Your objective is simple:
The Werewolves want to eliminate everyone in the village, while the Humans must work together to lynch all the Werewolves.
Time to Set Up!
Before starting the game, assign someone as the Moderator. The Moderator’s role is to oversee the game and ensure fair play.
Now, it’s time to sort the cards. Separate the ghosts, evidence, and characters. Depending on the number of players, create a deck of characters.
- If you have 8 players (excluding the Moderator), divide them into 5 Villagers, 2 Werewolves, and 1 Seer.
- If you have 9 or more players, add more Villagers or Special characters (explained later).
- If you have 16 or more players, include a third Werewolf.
- When someone is assigned to be the Moderator in the game of Mafia, they have certain rules and limitations that they must follow.
- Firstly, they cannot reveal their character to the other players. This is to preserve the mystery and suspense of the game.
- Secondly, during the night phase of the game, the Moderator is required to close their eyes along with all the other players. This ensures that there is no unfair advantage or bias.
- Thirdly, the Moderator no longer has any special abilities, regardless of what character they were assigned. This levels the playing field and prevents any imbalance.
- Fourthly, once the Moderator has fulfilled their duties, they are no longer able to talk for the remainder of the game. This allows the focus to shift back to the players and their interactions.
- Fifthly, the Moderator has the ability to initiate a vote to choose who will be suspected during the day phase. This decision-making power gives them an important role in the game.
- Lastly, it is important to note that the Moderator cannot vote for whom to lynch. This ensures that they do not have any undue influence over the outcome of the game.
Medium (9): The Medium is a special human who has the ability to communicate with spirits. Each night, starting from the second night, the Moderator will announce the Medium’s turn and give them a thumbs-up if the last player lynched was a werewolf, or a thumbs-down if not.
Possessed (10): The Possessed is a human who secretly aligns with the werewolves. Their objective is to help the werewolves win without knowing who they are. If the werewolves win, the Possessed wins too.
Bodyguard (11): I’m here to protect you. I’m a Human who can keep you safe during the game. Every night, just before the Werewolves’ turn, you can choose someone you want me to guard. If the Werewolves target that person, I’ll step in and make sure they don’t get hurt. No one will die, and everyone will be safe.
Owl-man (12): The Owl-man is a regular human, just like you and me. But they have a special power that comes out at night. When it’s their turn, the moderator tells them, and they get to choose one person. During the day, the game goes on like usual, with everyone trying to figure out who the werewolves are. But here’s the twist: when it’s time to vote for the two people you think are the most suspicious, the person chosen by the Owl-man automatically becomes one of the suspects. That means they’re under extra scrutiny, even if no one else suspected them. It’s a lot of pressure, don’t you think? And if the person chosen by the Owl-man is one of the two suspects, then it doesn’t change anything. But when there are more than 20 players, the Owl-man becomes even more dangerous. They turn into the Deadly Owl-man! And if the person they choose is not a werewolf or a werehamster, that person dies at the start of the next day! It can be pretty intense when two people end up getting killed in one night. In that case, the moderator has to decide who gets the “Welcome!” and who gets the “Sorry!” It adds another layer of excitement to the game. So, remember, if you’re the Owl-man, use your power wisely and maybe you can help the village survive. Good luck!
Let’s play an exciting game called Werewolf! It’s a mysterious and social game that you can enjoy with your friends. Here’s how you can set up the game:
To begin the game, the Moderator deals one card face down to each player, taking note of who the Werewolves are. Don’t worry, the Moderator won’t reveal anything just yet!
Now, it’s time to look at your card secretly. Remember, don’t show it to anyone else! Keep it face down until the game ends.
Each player will receive a voting token, while the Moderator keeps the Summary card, Ghosts, two evidence cards, and the “Welcome!” handy.
Now that we’re all set up, let’s dive into the exciting game play of Werewolf!
When we play the game, each turn is separated into two parts: night and day. First, we have the night phase, during which the Werewolves choose a player to eliminate. It’s a dark and mysterious time where secrets are kept and danger lurks.
Then comes the daytime, and all the remaining players gather in the village. This is when we have the opportunity to take justice into our own hands and vote to lynch someone who we believe is a Werewolf. It’s a time of suspicion and uncertainty, as we try to uncover the truth and protect ourselves from those who seek to harm us.
However, not all hope is lost. One of us, a brave Human known as the Seer, possesses a special ability. They have the Second Sight, which allows them to detect the presence of lycanthropy. This power is used secretly at night, as the Seer tries to uncover the true identity of the Werewolves and protect the village.
The Night
Alright, everyone! It’s night time, so close your eyes! And to make sure accidental sounds don’t give anything away, let’s all tap the table with one hand.
Now, the Seer, it’s your turn! Open those eyes and choose someone you want to know about. Just silently point or nod at them.
Here’s the trick: I’m the only one who knows if the person you picked is a Werewolf or not. To let you in on it, I’ll give a thumbs-up if they are a Werewolf, or a thumbs-down if they are not. Got it? Good. So, Seer, time to wrap it up. Close those eyes!
Oh, and one more thing. Even if the Seer is out of the game, we still play this part. No clues are given out, I promise. I’ll just call for the Seer to open and close their eyes, and that’s it!
Hey there! It’s time for the Werewolves to make their move. If you’re a Werewolf, open your eyes and choose a human to target.
As the Werewolves silently communicate and select their victim, the Moderator takes note of their decision. Once they’re done, the Werewolves shut their eyes, and their turn comes to a close. The night phase has come to an end.
Daylight Arrives
Now it’s daytime, and the Moderator gathers everyone’s attention (“Wake up, it’s daytime!”). All of us open our eyes, ready to face the next challenge. The Moderator then delivers the unfortunate news to the player chosen by the Werewolves: they have been eliminated!
From this point on, the eliminated player becomes a Ghost. They still participate in the game, but their role has changed. They can no longer speak, and they must keep their character card a secret. The Ghost receives a special card and a warm “Welcome!” from the Moderator.
With one player out of the game, the remaining survivors must now decide who to lynch. We can freely communicate with each other, discussing and analyzing to uncover the identity of the Werewolves. There are no restrictions on what we can say – we can speak the truth, deceive others, or even lie.
However, here’s the twist: the Werewolves are among us, disguised as ordinary Humans. They will likely try to shift suspicion onto innocent Villagers, especially the one they think is the Seer. Keep in mind that no player is allowed to reveal their character card to others.
Lynching
Okay, let’s talk about what happens next in the game. It’s an exciting moment! After about three minutes of discussing and strategizing, the Moderator asks each player for their opinion. They start with the player sitting to the right of the one who got the “Welcome!” card, and then they go clockwise around the table.
Now, here’s where things get interesting. All players, including those who are no longer alive (we call them Ghosts), get their voting tokens ready. And when it’s their turn, they place their token in front of the player they want to vote out. At this point in the game, it doesn’t matter which side of the token is facing up.
Once everyone has voted, it’s time to count the votes. The two players who have the most votes are “suspected”. If there’s a tie, the player who is closest to the one with the “Welcome!” card becomes the primary suspect. You count clockwise to figure that out.
Now, here’s the fun part. Each player gets their voting token back. But before they do that, the Moderator reveals a clue about who the werewolf might be. They place a Werewolf evidence card in front of each suspected player. One player gets a paw print, and the other one gets a tuft of fur. Those clues might just help you figure out who the werewolf really is!
On the first day of our game, there are 8 players and 1 Ghost remaining, making it a total of 9 votes. The Ghost in this case is Frank, and he greets everyone with a warm “Welcome!”.
We have just finished the voting round, and the results are in. Andrew received 3 votes, while Danielle and Rebecca each received 2 votes. Bea and Carl each got 1 vote.
Interestingly, Andrew seems to be the primary suspect. However, we should also consider the fact that Danielle is closer to Frank in a clockwise direction compared to Rebecca. This detail breaks the tie, and Danielle is now the main suspect. As a result, both Andrew and Danielle receive one Werewolf evidence card each.
Isn’t it intriguing how things unfold in this game? The mix of suspicion, strategy, and unexpected twists keeps us on our toes. By following the clues and analyzing the dynamics, we can navigate through this thrilling experience. So, let’s brace ourselves for more excitement and see how the game progresses!
So here’s what happens next. The two suspects, they might try to protect themselves with a quick speech. But once they’re done talking, it’s time for the rest of us to vote again. We’re looking for which suspect to get rid of. And here’s the thing, this time it’s a secret vote.
So, we each grab our voting token and put it on the table. We flip it to the side of the suspect we want to get rid of, then cover it with one hand. When we’re all ready, we reveal our votes together, all at once. It’s up to the Moderator to give the command.
Now, the suspect with the most votes is out. They become a Ghost. But what if there’s a tie? Well, in that case, the lynched suspect is the one closest to the one who said “Welcome!” at the start, going clockwise. That’s how it’s decided. Oh, and don’t forget, the Moderator is in charge of collecting any evidence that might point to a Werewolf.
Hey there! Let me explain how the game works. One player is chosen as the Moderator, and they distribute cards to all the players. These cards determine whether you’re a Ghost or a Werewolf. Each night, the Werewolves secretly choose someone to eliminate. It’s up to the Ghosts to figure out who the Werewolves are and try to stop them.
During the day, everyone discusses and decides who they suspect is a Werewolf. Once the accusations are made, the players vote on who to lynch. The person who gets the most votes is considered guilty and is out of the game. They can’t defend themselves or reveal their card.
Once someone is lynched, the day is over. The game moves on to another night, and the cycle continues. The game ends when either the Ghosts or the Werewolves have eliminated all the players on the opposing team.
Here’s an example: Let’s say Andrew and Danielle are suspected of being Werewolves. They have a chance to defend themselves and prove their innocence. But will they be convincing enough?
The Moderator then announces the reasons for suspicion: “Andrew is suspected because a tuft of fur was found in his house. Danielle is suspected because of a Werewolf paw print found in her garden. Now it’s time to choose who to lynch!”
All the players, except the Ghosts, Andrew, and Danielle, secretly vote for who they think should be lynched. Once everyone has voted, the Moderator commands them to reveal their votes simultaneously. Then the player with the most votes is considered guilty and is out of the game.
Let’s find out who the werewolf is! The votes are in, and it seems like there’s a tie between Andrew and Danielle. Andrew has two votes, which are represented by a tuft of fur, while Danielle has four votes, symbolized by a paw print. Poor Danielle! The angry villagers think she’s the werewolf and have decided to lynch her. But are they correct in their assumption?
A Guide for Ghosts
Special Characters
When there are 9 or more players, you have the option to include additional characters in the game. These characters bring extra excitement and strategy to the table. Here are a few of them:
Hey there! Let me tell you about a couple of interesting roles in the game Lupus in Tabula. This game is a lot of fun, and it’s all about trying to figure out who the werewolves are!
First up, we have the Freemasons. There are two of them, and they know each other’s roles. During the first night, the Moderator calls for the Freemasons to open their eyes and recognize each other. It’s pretty cool that they have this special connection. It’s important to remember that the Freemasons can only be added to the deck as a pair, not individually.
Next, we have the Werehamster. This role is unique because the Werehamster plays all by themselves. The interesting thing about the Werehamster is that they can’t be killed by the werewolves. If the werewolves choose the Werehamster as their victim, guess what? Nobody gets hurt. Pretty clever, right? Oh, and here’s an important detail: if the Seer points at the Werehamster during the night, they get killed along with the player chosen by the werewolves. But here’s the thing – if the Werehamster is still alive when the game ends, they’re the only winner! Talk about a cool twist.
So there you have it – two fascinating roles in the game Lupus in Tabula. They add an extra layer of excitement and strategy. If you’re into this game, you’ll definitely enjoy playing as the Freemasons or the Werehamster. Have a blast!
Mythomaniac (16): I have a special phase at the end of the second night. During this phase, I have one chance to point to another player who is still in the game. If that player is not a Werewolf or the Seer, then I remain a Human for the rest of the game. However, if I point to a player who is a Werewolf or the Seer, I immediately take on the same role as that player! From that point on, I will open my eyes at night when the moderator calls the character whose ability I now have. We will make decisions together. The Seer will see me as a Werewolf if I take on that role.
End of the Game
The game ends when the Moderator declares the Humans as the winners if they successfully lynch all the Werewolves.
If the Werewolves are successful in their quest to eliminate enough Humans, achieving numerical equality, they emerge victorious. For example, if there are 2 Werewolves and 2 Humans remaining, or even just 1 of each, the Werewolves can openly carry out the merciless slaughter of the last surviving Villagers.
It’s important to remember that victory is achieved collectively as a side, which means that players who were previously eliminated also share in the triumph.
