What’s Included
When I look at what this game includes, it seems pretty awesome. You get a collection of 21 double-sided level sheets, giving you a total of 42 game levels to play. And let me tell you, these levels are no joke! They take you through different worlds like the Jungle World, Ice World, Desert World, Temple World, Magma World, Mechanical World, and even an Epic World. Each world has its own set of challenges, and it’s up to you to conquer them all.
But that’s not all. The game also comes with 2 special stages that add an extra layer of excitement and difficulty. And to help you keep track of your progress, there’s a score track running around the game console inside the box.
To play the game, you’ll need a game console, which is included in the package. The console has a box base and plastic insert, making it sturdy and durable. And to make things even more fun, there are 5 erasable marker pens included, so you can write on the sheets and easily erase your markings when you’re done.
To keep the game moving along, there’s a sand timer included. It lasts for 30 seconds, giving you just enough time to complete your turn before passing it on to the next player.

I have 9 score tokens to keep track of my points on the score track.
I also have 10 character tokens that I can use to identify myself and the other players.
In addition, there are 28 Bonus tokens that I can collect. These tokens come in different types, such as Broom, Banana, Shield, Mosquito, and XP tokens.
But be careful! There are also 24 Penalty tokens that can affect my gameplay. These tokens include Cyclops, Cramp, Switch, Claw, and Vortex tokens.
Now let’s talk about the game principle.
In this game, I’m a champion and I want to get as many Experience Points as possible. Arkadia’s got 7 different worlds, and I’ll be moving through them all. Each world, except for the last one, is divided into 6 levels, with a tough boss waiting for me at the end of the final level.
At level 1 of each world, there are missions that I need to complete within a specific time limit. To do this, I draw whatever’s required by the Challenge Box on my screen.
Once time runs out, I put my screen over the level sheet, check if my drawings are good, and record any Experience Points I earn. If I did well, I might even grab some Bonus tokens. But I also have to watch out for Traps!
The player who collects the most Experience Points after playing through all the levels in a World wins the game. So let’s get started!
Setting Up
When we start playing, we each get a Character token (1) and a score token (2) to keep track of our points. We also need a marker pen (3) and a screen (4), which goes on a base board with the white side facing up.
The console base (6) goes on the game console (7). All the score tokens are stacked, starting with the youngest player’s token and ending with the oldest player’s token. The game console is placed in the center of the play area, equidistant from all of us.
We need to make sure the timer (8) is placed where all players can see it, next to the game console. The Bonus tokens (9) and Penalty tokens (10) are randomly stacked facedown and placed in the play area.
The first pile is called the Bonus pile, and the second pile is called the Penalty pile.
We choose one of the seven Worlds (11), like World 1 or World 7, and place the first level of that World (level 1) on the game console.
I’m going to explain how this game works, so listen up! There are seven Worlds to play in, and they go from easy to hard. You should start with World 1, and then play the other Worlds in order.
Playing the Game
Before you start playing, you need to choose if you want to play in normal mode or arcade mode. Normal mode is easier. Here are the rules for normal mode:
First, you look at the level and figure out what you need to do.
Step 1: Solve the Level

When it comes to playing Prank tokens, every player has the freedom to choose how many they want to use and who they want to target. You’re in control of your own decisions! The player with the highest score gets to allocate their tokens first, but don’t worry if you’re not the top scorer – you’ll still get a chance to use your tokens. Just remember, the order goes from highest to lowest score. So, even if you’re not in the lead, you can still have some fun.
Your Goal
When you reach this stage, any Penalty tokens you have will kick into gear automatically.
Ready, set, draw! Let’s see who can create the best pictures in just 30 seconds. When the sand timer starts, it’s time for everyone to grab a pen and start drawing. Your goal is to sketch the forms required for the mission that appears on your screen. But remember, you only have half a minute, so draw as fast as you can!
How to Score
Leveling Up
If you played any Bonus or Penalty tokens during the level, keep them face down under the Bonus and Penalty Piles. Then, it’s time to move on to the next level. Remove the current level from the game console and replace it with the next one. To make things interesting, rotate the new level clockwise by a quarter-turn compared to the previous level.
Note: When you play this game, you should draw your pictures from your own perspective on the level sheet. You don’t have to rotate your screen to place it correctly.
When playing this game, it’s important to draw your pictures based on how you see the level. This means you should place your drawings on the level sheet without rotating your screen. By doing this, you can create a unique artwork that reflects your own viewpoint. So, let your imagination run wild and enjoy the freedom to express yourself in your drawings. Phase 3: The Game Comes to an End
So, here’s what happens when we reach the end of the game. We’ve been following the same process throughout all the levels in the World we chose. And now, it’s time for the final level – the big confrontation with the Boss. And guess what? The player who has earned the most Experience Points throughout the game wins!
Drawings and How They Work
A. Three Types of Drawing
Okay, let’s talk about the different types of drawings you’ll be creating as part of your missions:
Validating Drawings
Let’s talk about what makes a drawing valid. It’s actually quite simple. To ensure your drawing is considered valid, it needs to follow three key rules. It’s like a little checklist to make sure everything is in order.
The first rule is accuracy. When you draw something, you want it to resemble the real thing as closely as possible. That means paying attention to details, proportions, and overall shape. Make sure your lines are straight when they need to be and curved when they should be. Accuracy is the foundation of a good drawing.
The second rule is clarity. A valid drawing should be easy to understand. Think about it like telling a story. When you look at the drawing, you want to be able to quickly get the main idea. So, make sure your lines are clear and there are no confusing scribbles. Remember, simplicity is key when it comes to clarity.
The third rule is completeness. A valid drawing should include all the necessary elements. Imagine you’re drawing a bird. You wouldn’t want to forget the beak or the feathers, right? So, make sure you include all the important parts. This way, you’ll have a complete and well-rounded drawing.

It’s important that drawings don’t touch or branch. If they do, those drawings are not valid and won’t be scored.
Challenge Box
The objectives for each level are described in the Challenge Box at the bottom of the level sheet. This includes the main mission and any side quests.

When you embark on the adventure of Loony Quest, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Let’s go over them together!
First, the Quest Target and Quest Item icons are essential. They help guide you through the game and show you which items you need to touch to succeed, indicated by this image . On the other hand, they also tell you which items, or traps, you should avoid at all costs, as shown by this image .
As you navigate the game, you will notice the Experience Points block. This block keeps track of your progress by showing you the number of Experience Points you gain or lose whenever your drawing touches a relevant Quest Item. Keep an eye on this block to see how well you’re doing!
Note: It’s important to understand that the Mission Box and Quest Box are separate entities. This means that you can win or lose quest points, even if you haven’t completed a mission. They operate independently, so make sure to consider both while playing.
There are Four Different Mission Types

The goal of a Link mission is to connect the Item in the first Mission Target to the Item in the second Mission Target.
Let’s Get Moving: Okay, so here’s the deal. To complete this Move mission, you need to draw a line on your screen. But hold up, there’s a catch. The line has to start inside the Mission Item. That’s the only way it’ll count. Once you’ve got that squared away, feel free to end the line wherever you want on the level. Don’t worry, it won’t change the outcome of the mission at all.
Ring: I need to draw a circle around each Mission Item on my screen.
In order for me to successfully complete a Ring mission, I have to draw a closed contour around the Mission Target. It doesn’t matter what shape the contour is, as long as it encloses the exact number of Items that are specified. I have to make sure that the items I ring don’t overlap with the contour of the ring.
Mark: Here’s what you need to do. Start by drawing a dot on your screen. That’s right, just a simple dot.
In order to complete the Mark mission and earn those points, you’re gonna have to make sure that your dot touches the Mission Item. It’s super important to get that dot right on target!
In some levels, you’ll notice the “30 Seconds” mission icon. It’s a little symbol that pops up. When you see it, you get 30 seconds to look at the level. But here’s the thing, once the time is up, you can’t look at it anymore. Nope, sorry!
Then, you start the timer again. Now comes the fun part! You have to draw the mission from memory on your screen. That’s right, no peeking back at the level sheet!
Finally, you put the level sheet back where it belongs. That’s how you figure out the scores.
Winning and Losing Points
Points You Get from the Mission Box
Hey there! Let me break it down for you. On each mission, you can earn Experience Points (XP) based on what’s shown in the block. If the required Item only appears once in the level, the Mission Target will be light green . If the Item appears multiple times, the Mission Target will be dark green . Now, here’s the cool part. Sometimes, you can accomplish a mission more than once, but you gotta use a different Item each time. For example, check this out: . Each time you do that mission, you’ll need to use a different Item, and the Mission Target will be dark green . Easy peasy, right? Oh, and here’s an example to help you visualize it:
Points Earned or lost via the Quest Box
When you touch an Item inside a green Quest Target, you earn a certain number of Experience Points. Remember, you can only earn these points once per Item, even if you touch it multiple times with your drawing. On the other hand, if you touch a Trap in a red Quest Target, you will lose a certain number of Experience Points each time the Trap is touched by a different valid drawing. And here’s an important rule: if you touch a Quest Item associated with a Skull, you won’t score any Experience Points for the entire level.
How to calculate the score
When I play a game, my score is determined by how many Experience Points I earn or lose from the Mission Box and the Quest Box. Once I figure out how many Experience Points I’ve earned, I move my score token forward on the score track. If my token lands on a space already taken by another player’s token, I just move it to the next open space. I don’t lose any points on the score track if I earn a negative number of Experience Points. My token stays where it is. Just keep in mind that only valid drawings count towards the score. Make sure to check page 4 for the rules on valid drawings.

Neutral Items
Neutral Items don’t affect the Experience Point score when I touch them.
When it comes to understanding the elements of a game level, there are a few key components you should keep in mind. Let’s break them down one by one:
- The level details box: This box provides important information about the level, such as its name, objectives, and any special conditions you need to fulfill. It’s like a roadmap that guides you through the gameplay.
- Scenery Items: These are objects or elements that you may encounter within the level but are not directly associated with any specific mission or quest. They add to the atmosphere and visual appeal of the game, but they don’t impact your progress.
- The challenge box: This box presents you with specific challenges or obstacles that you must overcome in order to advance further in the game. It could be solving a puzzle, defeating an enemy, or finding a hidden key. These challenges make the game more exciting and test your skills.
Item Outlines
Sometimes, you may only see a portion of a mission or quest item within the designated target area. However, it’s important to note that the entire item is considered when completing the mission or quest. So even if you only see a piece of it, you should still interact with it as if the whole item is present.
Note: The shadow that you see around an Item is not actually part of the Item and doesn’t count when scoring it.
Item Categories
Some Quest Items have different pictures to make them look unique.
But, even if they don’t all show up in a Quest Target, when calculating Experience Points, Items that belong to the same category are considered the same.
Bonus and Penalty Tokens
Hey, did you know that in this game there are special tokens called Bonus and Penalty tokens? Let me tell you more about them.
Awarding Bonus and Penalty Tokens
So, during the scoring phase, if you manage to touch a Bonus icon with your drawing, you win a Bonus token! How cool is that? On the other hand, if you touch a Penalty icon with your drawing, you get a Penalty token – whether your drawing is good or bad. Ouch!
Now, when you win a Bonus or Penalty token, you grab the top token from the respective pile and place it face up right in front of you. But here’s the thing, if you happen to draw two or more Penalty tokens that look the same, you can only keep one. The rest, you have to place face down at the bottom of the Penalty pile. Tough luck!
Note: You can only collect one Bonus or Penalty token per icon, even if the icon is touched multiple times by one or more drawings.
Bonus Tokens
There are 5 different types of Bonus, organized in 2 categories: Pranks and Power-Ups.
Pranks
During the Play Pranks step, players can activate Prank Bonuses. Banana: If I have a Banana, I can throw it onto the screen of any opponent I choose. When the Banana is on someone’s screen, they can’t move it or rotate their screen. It also prevents them from drawing at the location where the Banana is. Remember, you have to toss the Banana onto the opponent’s screen, not place it precisely. If the Banana falls off, you can throw it again. Mosquito: If I have a Mosquito Bonus, I can give it to any opponent I want. The opponent needs to balance the Mosquito token on the end of their marker pen while they’re drawing. If it falls off, they have to balance it on their marker pen again before they can continue drawing. Broom: With a Broom Bonus, I can pass one of my Penalty tokens to another player of my choice.
Super Boosts
Super Boosts are special abilities that you can activate to give yourself an advantage during the scoring phase. They come in different forms and can help you avoid pitfalls and increase your score.
Shield: If you have a Shield, you have the power to nullify the loss of Experience Points caused by a Trap. When you encounter multiple Traps, you get to choose which one to ignore, even if multiple drawings touch the chosen Trap.
XP Bonus: Having an XP Bonus allows you to discard it during the scoring phase and move your score token two additional spaces on the score track. This allows you to accumulate more points and get ahead in the game.
Penalty Tokens
Penalty Tokens have a different effect. During the next Mission phase, each player’s Penalty Tokens are activated for the entire duration of the timer. They can bring added challenges that you need to strategize around.
There are five different types of Penalty Tokens, each with its own unique effect on the game.
Cramp: If I get a cramp while playing, I have to draw with my arm kept straight, without bending my elbow.
Note: If I’m penalized with a cramp, I’m not allowed to stand up.
Claw: When you’re hit with a Claw Penalty, you have to hold your marker pen in a special way. You can only use your thumb and little finger, like a pincer grip.
Vortex: When I’m hit by a Vortex Penalty, I have to turn my base board over to show its colored side. Then, I need to put my screen on top of it. But don’t worry, it’s not forever! After the next scoring step, my base board will go back to its normal white side.
Switch: When it comes to the game of tennis, there’s a tricky rule known as the Switch Penalty. Basically, if you’re a right-handed player, you’re forced to draw with your left hand for a period of time, and if you’re left-handed, you have to use your right hand. It may seem strange, but it’s actually an important rule that adds an element of challenge and unpredictability to the game.
Cyclops: When you’re hit with a Cyclops Penalty, it means you have to close one eye. And let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it sounds! I mean, how am I supposed to aim properly with only one eye open? It’s like trying to hit a target blindfolded!
Keys and Cages
When you play certain levels, you’ll come across a Key and a Cage. The trick is, to earn Experience Points, you need to draw a line that touches both the Key and the Cage. It doesn’t matter if you touch the Experience coins inside the Cage or not – just make sure your line touches any part of the Cage.
Remember: your line must touch both the Key and the Cage to score the points.
Buttons and Lasers
In levels 6.1, 6.5, and 7.2, there are special areas marked by a barrier and a laser of the same color.
You can’t enter these areas with your line unless you disable the laser and barrier. To do this, touch the relevant button before you enter the area.
If your line enters one of these areas while the laser and barrier are still active, the part of your line beyond that point will be erased before you complete the level.

Hey there! Did you know that on some levels, sneaky Pixies like to hide? Keep your eyes peeled when you’re playing, because if your drawing touches a Pixie, something special happens just for you!
- First, I choose one of the two sides of the Special stage sheet and jump right into playing that level before the next player takes their turn.
- I place my Character token on the designated spot 1 and flick it forward.
- If my token leaves the level sheet, I won’t score any Experience Points. However, if any part of my token remains on the level sheet, I determine my score.
Man-eating Wall (stage 1)
In this stage, I score the number of Experience Points shown in the highest-value space that my Character token touches. But if my token touches a space with a man-eating plant, I won’t score any points.
Treasure Beach (stage 2)
When you play the game, you gain Experience Points (XP) by touching different pots with your Character token. The more pots you touch, the more XP you earn.
Arcade Mode
In Arcade Mode, each time you reach a new level, there is a Penalty token waiting for you at the top of the Penalty pile. But here’s the catch: this Penalty affects all players, not just you. We call it the Common Penalty because it applies to everyone.
If you happen to have a Penalty token that matches the type of the Common Penalty, you need to act fast. Place your token under the Penalty pile right away.
