How to Play

1. First, mix the 84 hetrix tiles by flipping them over and shuffling them thoroughly. Each player should receive 5 tiles.
2. Next, mix the 12 link tiles by flipping them over and shuffling them thoroughly. Each player should receive 1 tile, and the remainder should not be used.
3. Now, it’s time to begin the game. All players should turn over their tiles and start building their own matrix. Make sure to keep your link tile hidden from the other players. Remember, you can only use your link tile once in your own matrix.
4. During your turn, you have two options. You can use all 5 of your hetrix tiles to build your matrix, or you can choose to use one tile to disrupt another player’s matrix. If you choose to disrupt, you can only target the player to your left. This move is known as infiltration.
5. You can only infiltrate another player’s matrix if they have already completed their round and used 4 or more tiles. Infiltration is not allowed before this point.
6. Once a matrix has been infiltrated, no player is allowed to make any changes to it during future rounds.
7. The game consists of 4 rounds, with 5 tiles being played in each round. I add up the points at the end of all 4 rounds.

After the first round, I earned 6 points using the yellow gems and 4 points for the red gems.

The red gems are not blocked, so I can make it longer in the next round.

So far, only 3 gems are connected for blue, which means I haven’t earned any points yet.

However, since it is not blocked, I can use it to earn points in the coming rounds.

Every round requires some strategy. I need to connect 4 gems of the same color to start earning points.

Therefore, 3 gems of the same color earn no points. The purpose of Infiltration is to block the player on the left, and it is used on the player to the left after laying out at least 4 tiles in the matrix.

Why is it crucial to infiltrate in this game? Well, let me explain. We play a total of 4 rounds, and it’s essential to find a way to reduce the number of points the player on the left can earn. You see, even if only 4 hetrix tiles are used, we can still make use of the link tile to our advantage.

Example: In the first round, we used only 4 hetrix tiles, with the last one used to infiltrate the matrix above.

Now, take a look at the picture. As you can see, the red gems have been blacked out and are limited to just 4 connected gems.

Let’s talk about how to calculate the points. After playing 4 rounds, tally up your points. You’ll earn points for the colors red, orange, yellow, green, and purple. However, you only earn points if you have 4 or more gems of each color connected.

Here are some important things to keep in mind when calculating your points:

– If you have the longest links for each color (with gems connected for more than 5 possible links), you’ll earn a bonus of 3 points. But be careful! If there’s more than one player with the same number of longest links, no one gets the bonus points.

• Players who create the longest links (8 or more links) earn 5 bonus points. If multiple players have the same number of longest links, bonus points are not awarded.
• Players who have the most links across all matrices receive 5 bonus points. Points are given to players who have the most gems with at least 4 links. If multiple players have the same number of most links, bonus points are not awarded. Record points per gem color on the point sheet.
