Let’s Play Happy Pigs!
If you’re ready to have a blast with your friends and family, then the Happy Pigs game is just what you need. In this guide, I’ll explain the rules of the game, so you’ll be able to jump right in and start having fun!
The Objective
The goal of the game is simple: to be the first player to reach 100 points. You’ll earn points by collecting cards that have different pig values. Each pig has a different point value, so the more valuable the pig, the more points you’ll earn!
The Deck
The Happy Pigs deck is made up of 40 cards, each featuring a different pig. Each pig has a value ranging from 1 to 10, with the higher value pigs being rarer and more valuable.
Gameplay
At the start of the game, each player is dealt six cards. On their turn, a player can either draw a card from the deck or take a card from the discard pile. The discard pile is made up of the cards players have previously played.
After drawing a card, the player must choose a card from their hand to play. They can either play a single pig card or multiple pig cards of the same value. The total value of the pig cards played on a turn is added to the player’s total score.
However, there’s a catch. If a player plays three or more pig cards of the same value, all pigs of that value are considered “dirty” and won’t score any points. So, you’ll need to strategize and decide when it’s best to play those valuable pigs!
The game continues with players taking turns, drawing cards, and playing pigs until one player reaches a score of 100 points or more. That player is declared the winner and has proven themselves to be the ultimate pig collector!
Strategy Tips
As you play the Happy Pigs game, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Try to collect a variety of pig values to maximize your score and avoid getting stuck with “dirty” pigs.
- Pay attention to the cards played by other players, as this will help you make more informed decisions.
- Keep an eye on the discard pile – it may contain valuable pigs that you can snatch up!
So, grab your friends, shuffle the deck, and let the pig-collecting frenzy begin! Have a fantastic time playing Happy Pigs!
Hey there! I want to talk about something really interesting – pig farming. It’s incredible how competitive and challenging it can be for farmers. Not only do they have to compete with each other, but they also have to take care of their pigs to make sure they stay healthy.
But you know what? It’s not all hard work and stress. There are some exciting events that happen in the world of pig farming. Farmers get to participate in pig shows, go on field trips to pigsties, and even deal with pigs in heat! It’s not just about raising pigs; it’s about doing it exceptionally well to win the game!
What Makes It All Work
Welcome to the world of Piggy Heroes! In this game, you’ll embark on a thrilling adventure with your piggy friends. Let’s dive in and explore everything this game has to offer.
First, let’s take a look at what’s included in the box:
– 1 Piggy Store
– 20 Sties
– 60 Game Coins
– 20 Bills
– 160 Pigs
– 1 Starting Player Marker
– 24 Season Cards
– 25 Vaccines
– 25 Nutritional Supplements
– 25 Birth Amulets
– 24 Action Cards
– Instructions
Now that we have everything ready, let’s set up the game!
- First, you’ll want to set up the Piggy Store by putting it in the middle of the playing area. Make sure to place all the other game pieces in their correct spots in the Piggy Store. You should also have the Game Coins/Bills next to the Piggy Store, ready to be used.
Are you ready to play the Season cards game? Here’s how to set it up:
First, take all the Season cards and shuffle them. Make sure they are all facing down and separated for each season. Then, randomly choose 2 cards from each season or a total of 8 cards. Set aside those cards – they won’t be used in the game.
Now, take the remaining cards and place them in a stack in the center of the playing surface. Make sure to stack them by seasons, with the spring card on top and the winter card on the bottom.
Lastly, put the removed cards back in the game box and keep them aside. We won’t need them for the rest of the game.
Let’s Play
Step 1: Firstly, I turn over the top Season card from the stack, revealing what’s in store for us. Now it’s your turn. Take a moment to think about what you want to do in response. Choose your Action card and place it face down in front of you. Keep it a secret from the others.
Once everyone has made their decision, we all reveal our Action cards at the same time. Exciting, isn’t it?
Note: Remember, we follow the order of the seasons when playing Season cards. We start with spring, then move on to summer, autumn, and finally winter. So, make sure you turn over the right Season cards in the right order.
Step 2: Now that we all know what actions we want to take, it’s time to distribute the resources. The Season card tells us how much to distribute, and we divide it equally among those who chose the same Action.
If we can’t distribute something evenly, we should give the leftovers to the players based on their distance from the starting player. The closer a player is to the starting player, the higher their priority will be. You can find more information about how to calculate the distance from the starting player in the Function Specification: Distance from the Starting Player.
Step 3: All players will take turns performing their chosen actions. We will start with the starting player and move in a clockwise direction. You can learn more about each action in the Function Specification: Actions.
You can’t save or accumulate actions that you didn’t execute. However, you can exchange each unexecuted action for a $1 game coin. The actions will be executed and the exchange for game coins or bills will be carried out one player at a time, until all players have had their turns.
Alright, here’s what happens in Step 4: The event described on the Season card actually takes place. And if it just so happens that this is the very last card in the current season, then we also have to follow the rules for Season Change. Now, let me tell you more about that – just check out the Function Specification: Season Cards – Season Change section for all the juicy details!
Moving right along to Step 5: In this step, we pass the Starting Player Marker to the next player in a clockwise direction. This lucky individual then becomes the Starting Player for the next round, which starts immediately from Step 1.
Function Specification
Actions
Did you know that feeding your Pigs can help them grow bigger? It’s true! When you give them food, it helps them to increase in size.
Hey there! Did you know that when it comes to Pigs, size matters? Let me explain. Large Pigs, well, they can’t get any bigger. It’s like they’ve reached their maximum size or something. So, if you have a Pig that’s already large, you can’t make it grow anymore. One round of growth is all they get!
Now, here’s something interesting. When you feed a Pig, you have to choose which one you want to grow. But, the catch is, you have to exchange the chosen Pig for one that’s one size bigger. So, if you choose a large Pig, well, you have to say goodbye to it and welcome a new Pig that’s even larger. It’s like upgrading your Pig!
So, remember, when it comes to Pigs, once they’re large, they can’t grow any further. And if you want to make a large Pig even larger, you’ll need to trade it in for a new Pig of the next size up. It’s all about the size game with these Pigs! Pretty cool, huh?
I’m here to tell you all about Mate in the game. This action is pretty cool because it allows one of your Medium or Large Pigs to have a Baby Pig. But here’s the catch – each Pig can only give birth once in a round. So you have to choose wisely when to use this action.
When you use Mate, you get to take a Baby Pig from the Piggy Store and put it in your Sty. It’s like adding a new member to your piggy family!
Hey there! Guess what? I’ve got some exciting news for you. You now have the chance to buy something super awesome from the Piggy Store with just one purchase. Isn’t that cool?
When you’re ready to part ways with your Pig, Sell is the feature you need! Sell allows you to sell your Pig to the Piggy Store at the prices listed in the store. It’s a simple and convenient way to say goodbye to your Pig and get some value in return.
Welcome to the Piggy Store
Sties are where Pigs live. Each Sty can hold up to 66 Pigs. But there are rules – you can’t put Pigs outside the borders of a Sty, and you can’t stack them on top of each other. That just won’t work!
If you want to expand your Pig empire, you can buy more Sties. Just connect the sides of the Sties you already have, and voila! You’ll have more living spaces for your Pigs. The cost of additional Sties goes up with each one you buy: $10 for the second Sty, $15 for the third, $20 for the fourth, and so on. But remember, you can’t sell Sties once you’ve bought them.
Pigs of the same type all cost the same. So don’t worry about your budget – you’ll know exactly what you’re getting!
Baby Pigs
Did you know that I can be bought for just $3? That’s right! Baby Pigs are the perfect companions if you’re looking for a cute and cuddly pet. Plus, they have the potential to grow up into Small Pigs.
Little Pigs
Little Pigs, just like their name suggests, are smaller in size and more affordable compared to their larger counterparts. These adorable creatures are available for purchase at a reasonable price of $6 each. Plus, their compact size makes them easier to care for and handle.
But don’t let their small stature fool you! Little Pigs have the potential to grow into Medium Pigs, which means they’ll have some growth spurts on their journey to becoming full-fledged adults. Their small size gives them plenty of room to regale you with their cute antics and playful nature.
When you bring home a Little Pig, you’re not only acquiring a delightful companion but also a bundle of love and affection. These little cuties will shower you with snuggles and piggy kisses. They make wonderful additions to any family, whether you have kids or not.
So, if you’re on the hunt for a new furry friend, consider bringing home a Little Pig. Investing in one of these tiny bundles of joy will bring endless fun and laughter into your life. Get ready for a lifetime of piggy adventures!
Medium Pigs
Costing only $10 each, medium pigs are an affordable option. They have the ability to mate and eventually transform into larger pigs. It’s fascinating how these little porkers have the potential to grow into something bigger.
Big Pigs
Costing $15 each, Big Pigs are large in size but cannot grow any bigger.
All Pig cards have two sides: one with a syringe symbol that indicates the completion of vaccination, and the other side without the symbol which represents an unvaccinated Baby Pig or a newly purchased Pig.
As soon as a Pig receives a vaccination, turn its card face-up to reveal the syringe icon. The vaccination remains effective as the Pig grows, and it doesn’t affect the buying or selling of the Pig in any way.
Hey there! Let’s talk about vaccines for pigs. Did you know that pigs can receive vaccines too, just like humans? It’s true! But there’s a catch – a pig can only get one vaccine. No more, no less.
If a pig is living in a sty but hasn’t been vaccinated before a season change, things can get pretty bad. In fact, the pig will die right after the season changes. It’s not a pretty sight, I must say.
Now, here’s the thing. Dead pigs don’t stay in the sty. Nope, they get sent straight back to the Piggy Store. Unfortunately, there’s no compensation for the poor departed piggy.
So, if you have a pig and you want to keep it healthy and alive, make sure it gets its vaccine before a season change. Trust me, it’s for the best.
Nutritional Supplements are special additions that can only be given to Baby Pigs or Small Pigs.
When Baby Pigs or Small Pigs consume a portion of Nutritional Supplements, they experience incredible growth. In fact, their size increases by one level! For example, if a Baby Pig eats Nutritional Supplements, it becomes a Medium Pig instead of remaining a Small Pig. And if a Small Pig indulges in these supplements, it becomes a Large Pig instead of a Medium Pig.
Birth Amulets are magical items that can be used during the birth of a Baby Pig. When a Birth Amulet is used, it allows the newborn Pig to be born as a Small Pig instead of a Baby Pig.
Season Cards
What I Can Do
On each Season card, you’ll find a list of actions – Feed, Mate, Purchase, and Sell. These actions determine what you can do during the game. Each action has a specific frequency or quantity assigned to it, and you’ll receive the corresponding resources or benefits when the time comes. It’s important to note that these distributions occur after all players have revealed their Action cards at the same time.
Where I Stand
The distance from the starting player is a crucial factor in the game. It determines the order in which players take their turns and can have a significant impact on the outcome. The player who is closest to the starting player will have the advantage of taking their turn first, while the player furthest away will have to wait longer. This distance can change throughout the game as players advance or fall behind.
Sometimes in the game, we need to distribute things based on how far a player is from the Starting Player. To figure this out, we count clockwise from the Starting Player.
Let’s say there are six players: A, B, C, D, E, and F. Player A is the Starting Player, so their distance is “0”. The player to their left has a distance of “1”, and the player even further to the left has a distance of “2”, and so on. The smaller the distance, the closer the player is to the Starting Player.
You can buy tools in the Piggy Store or win them in specific events mentioned on Season cards. Each tool costs $1 and cannot be sold. Once you use a tool, you have to return it to the Piggy Store.
Let’s talk about events and how they affect the price of items. You see, events are written on Season cards. And when an event involves the price of something, both the buying and selling prices are influenced.
Now, let’s say there’s a competition where multiple players have the same amount of the required subject. In this case, all of those players will receive the same prizes, as specified.
What about Season Changes?
Season Changes happen after the last card of each season is played. There are four Season Changes in total. When a Season Change occurs, we check all the Pigs living in a Sty to see if they’ve been vaccinated. Unfortunately, the ones that haven’t been vaccinated die right away after the Season Change.
But don’t worry, we take care of the dead Pigs. They are immediately returned to the Piggy Store. To avoid such losses, you can use your unused vaccines to vaccinate your Pigs before the inspection.
The Game’s End
Finally, let’s talk about how the game ends. Once we reach the end, all the players count their coins. The player with the most coins wins!
Hey there! The game I’m about to explain to you is pretty interesting. It’s called “Season Cards”. The cool thing about it is that it’s really easy to understand and play. Here’s how it goes:
So, the game starts with a set of Season cards. You’ll keep playing until all of these cards have been turned over and played.
Now, let’s talk about how you actually win the game. First, you need to sell off any Pigs that you still have in your Sties. You’ll get Game Coins/Bills for each Pig you sell. The amount of coins you get depends on the value of each Pig. Add up all the coins you have.
Here’s the exciting part. The player with the largest sum of Game Coins/Bills wins the game! But wait, what if there’s a tie? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. If multiple players have the same largest sum, they need to sell off any Tools and Sties they own for some extra Game Coins/Bills.
The selling prices are as follows: Tools are worth $1 each, the first Sty is worth $5, and each subsequent Sty has a $5 price increase from the previous one. Remember, the prices are just like the purchase prices described under Function Specification: Piggy Store – Sties.
Once everyone has sold off their Tools and Sties, it’s time to add up the values of the Game Coins/Bills again.
And that’s it! The player with the largest sum of Game Coins/Bills at this point is the ultimate winner of the game. Pretty cool, right? I hope you enjoy playing Season Cards!
When playing the game, if there is more than one player with the highest total after everything has been sold, it is considered a tie.
Advanced Level Game Instructions
Whether or not to use the advanced level game instructions is a decision that the players must make together.
The instructions for the advanced level game are the same as the regular level game, except for one change in Step 1 of “How to Play”.
In the advanced level game, Step 1 is as follows:
Step 1: After one player reveals the top Season card from the stack, the Starting Player gets to choose an Action for the round and shows the corresponding Action card to everyone else. Then the next player in clockwise order does the same.
This process continues until all players have shown their Action cards. Then the distribution of cards begins as explained in Step 2.
