Growl Game Rules

Hey there! Today, I’m going to explain the fun and exciting rules of the Growl Game. Get ready for a roaring good time!

So, you want to know how to play Growl? Well, it’s quite simple! Here’s what you need to do:

1. Set Up: First, gather your game materials. You’ll need a playing board, game pieces, and cards. Set up the board in the center of the table and distribute the game pieces to each player.

2. Goal: The objective of Growl is to become the alpha animal and have the most points at the end of the game. Points are earned by collecting sets of animal cards.

3. Gameplay: The game is played in rounds. On your turn, you have two actions you can take: explore or hunt. When you explore, you draw two cards from the deck and add them to your hand. When you hunt, you can either attack another player’s animal or defend your own.

4. Attacking and Defending: To attack, select an animal card from your hand and challenge an opponent’s animal. Compare the attack value of your card to the defense value of your opponent’s card. The animal with the higher value wins. The losing animal is sent back to the player’s hand, and the winner collects an animal card from the discard pile.

To defend, play an animal card from your hand with a higher defense value than your opponent’s attack value. This will protect your animal from being sent back to your hand.

5. Card Sets: Collecting sets of animal cards is the key to earning points in Growl. There are different types of animal cards, such as mammals, reptiles, and birds. Each set has a different point value, so try to collect as many sets as you can.

6. End of the Game: The game ends when the deck is depleted and there are no more cards to draw. Players count up the total points for their collected sets. The player with the highest score is crowned the alpha animal and wins the game!

That’s all there is to it! Remember, in Growl, it’s all about being strategic and collecting the most points. Now that you know the rules, gather your friends and let the growling begin!

Alright, let’s give this a shot!

  • There are 48 game cards
  • There are 7 Objective cards
  • There are 4 Night cards
  • There are 2 Final Night cards
  • There is a Setup card
  • There is a Fur bag
  • There are Instructions

Let’s Get Started

Prepare the Night Cards

When you open the game, you’ll find everything you need to play. Here’s what you’ll see:

– First, there are 48 game cards. These cards have different characters on them, each with their own abilities and traits.

– Next, there are 7 Objective cards. These cards give you goals to achieve during the game.

– Then, we have 4 Night cards. These cards represent the different stages of the game.

– After that, there are 2 Final Night cards. These cards mark the end of the game.

– You’ll also find a setup card, which helps you organize everything before you start playing.

– And finally, there’s a fur bag. This is where you’ll draw your game cards from.

– Of course, you’ll also receive a set of instructions that will guide you through the game.

Now that we’ve gone through what’s included, let’s move on to setting up the night cards.

So here’s what you do: don’t peek, okay? We’re going to mix up the Night cards and Final Night cards separately. Put aside two Night cards and one Final Night card, keep them face-down. We’ll add them back in later. And the rest of the Night and Final Night cards? They can go back in the game box for now.

Let’s Get Rid of Some Extras

  • If you’re playing with 8 players, take out all the cards marked 9+.
  • If you have 4 or 5 players, remove the cards marked 6+ and 9+.

Oh, and for your first few games, it’s best to leave out any expansion cards. We’ll save those for later, alright?

Time to Infect the Wolf Zero

Hey there! Let’s talk about an awesome game called Shuffle Bite. It’s a game that combines Bite cards and Gold cards to create a super fun and exciting experience for everyone.

So, here’s how it works. First, you gather all the Bite and Gold cards and shuffle them together. The number of players will determine how many cards you need. Once you have everything ready, it’s time to deal out the starter cards.

Each player will receive one of these starter cards. These cards will kickstart the game and set the stage for the rest of the gameplay. It’s like having a little taste of what’s to come!

The Bite cards are filled with challenges, dares, and thought-provoking questions. They will make you think and push you out of your comfort zone. It’s all about having fun and trying new things!

On the other hand, the Gold cards bring rewards, surprises, and special privileges. They are like little treasures waiting to be discovered. These cards will give you a boost and make the game even more exciting!

Now, let the game begin! Take turns drawing cards and follow the instructions or prompts on them. Get ready to laugh, think, and maybe even act a little silly. It’s all part of the Shuffle Bite experience!

Remember, the goal is to have a blast and enjoy the time spent playing with your friends or family. So gather around, shuffle those cards, and let the fun begin!

So, here’s what happens: I look at my cards. If I see a bite, that makes me a Wolf Zero. And that means I’m going to be a werewolf for the whole game. But if I don’t have a bite, I’m just a regular human. Simple, right?

We Get Our Starting Hands

Time to Set Up the Night Cards

Alright, let’s get started! Lay the deck of cards face-down on the table. Take those two Night cards you kept aside and insert them into the deck, one around 1/3 of the way down, and the other about 2/3 of the way down:

The Sniff

Pick the First Player

Now, give each player a home tile. Don’t forget to include the one with the start player symbol on it #image.jpg. In the very first game, the player who receives the home tile with the symbol is the start player. In subsequent games, the start player is determined by who has the most gold tokens. If there’s a tie, simply choose randomly between the players in the tie. These home tiles are super important because they tell us who’s still in the game and serve as a spot to put facedown cards during the Night Phase. #image.jpg

Let the Game Begin!

When it’s my turn in the game, I get really excited! It’s like I have all the power in my hands, and I can’t wait to see what card I’ll get next. I start by picking up the deck, making sure to turn it over so I can see the cards. Then, I read the top card out loud for everyone to hear.

If the card is a Night card, I have to do whatever it says. The card has special instructions that I need to follow. Once I’ve done what the card says, I put it aside and we move on to the Night Phase.

If the card is not a Night card, I give it to one of the other players. They get to keep it in their hand. There’s no limit to how many cards they can have. But here’s the catch – they need to check their hand to see if they’ve become a wolf or if they’ve died secretly.

Oh, and here’s an important rule – I can’t keep the card for myself. I have to give it away to someone else.

Finally, when I’m done with my turn, I pass the whole deck to the next player who’s still in the game. It keeps going like this until we reach the Final Night.

The Night Phase: Time for Secrets and Silence

When the Night or Final Night card is uncovered, the game enters a phase of quiet intrigue. During this period, communication is forbidden among players except for the purpose of resolving the Night’s card effects. It’s a time when mystery and strategy take center stage.

Now, this is where things get interesting. As a living player, you have an important decision to make. You must choose one card to pass to the player on your left and another card to pass to the player on your right. But be careful, you can’t just randomly select cards to hand over. There’s a catch – you must give each card to the corresponding neighbor, without any mixing or switching. Place the cards facedown on top of your closest living neighbors’ home tiles.

It’s essential to follow this process correctly and be mindful of any deceased players. When passing the cards during the Night Phase, skip over any players who have already met their untimely demise. Their presence no longer influences the course of events.

However, there are some exceptions. If a player dies as a result of a Night’s card effect or if they are unable to pass the two required cards, they meet their fate before the Night falls. They are out of the game, without the opportunity to pass on any secrets.

Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that if you’re a human player, you can’t pass Bite cards during the Night Phase.

Only the werewolves are able to “bite” during the Night Phase.

Once everyone has passed their cards, they shuffle the ones they received and add them to their hand. Each player then checks if they’ve died or secretly turned into a wolf. After that, the game continues as usual.

Becoming a Werewolf

During the game, you’ll come across cards with bite icons #image.jpg and charm icons #image.jpg on them.

I want to talk to you about an interesting aspect of the game called Growl. It’s all about transforming into a werewolf! Let me explain how it works.

Here’s the deal: whenever a human player has three or more bite icons (ignore those charm icons) on their character, something exciting happens – they become a werewolf! And not just any werewolf, they join the wolf team!

But wait, there’s more! Once a player becomes a wolf, they can never go back to being a human. It’s a permanent change. Talk about a game-changer!

Death

As you play the game, you will come across cards that have symbols on them. Some cards will have wound icons, like #image.jpg, while others will have salve icons, like #image.jpg. It’s important to keep track of these icons because if you have three or more wound icons, you will die. But don’t worry, if you have salve icons, you can subtract them from your total number of wound icons to see if you still survive.

When you die, don’t reveal which team you belong to. Just flip your home tile over to the red ‘I Died’ side and place your cards face-down. It’s important to keep your team a secret! So be careful not to give anything away!

Did you know that once you’re out of the game, you can’t be targeted by card effects, take turns, or pass cards at Night? But here’s the twist – you can still win if your team does!

The Game Comes to an End

Once the third Night Phase is over, the game is done and dusted.

But wait, there’s more! Don’t forget to pass cards even after the Final Night’s effects have been resolved!

Oh, and here’s a fun fact: if there are only two or fewer players left alive, the game ends right then and there.

Listen to the Growl

As soon as the Wolf Zeroes start growling and shaking their arms, the other wolves join in. It’s a real howl-fest! And if there are any humans still standing, they better get up and cheer!

If there’s at least one human left standing, congratulations, the human team wins. But if everyone left is growling and transformed into a werewolf, guess what? The wolves take home the victory!

Discover the Gold

When my team wins in this game, we each get rewarded with gold tokens. I get one gold token just for being on the winning side, and I get extra tokens for each gold icon on the cards I have.

It’s important to keep track of how many gold tokens I have, especially if I play multiple games in a row. At the end of our game night, the player with the most tokens becomes the Wolf King or Wolf Queen!

Here’s a tip for humans: If I receive a Bite card during the Night phase, it means that one of my neighbors is definitely a werewolf! To protect myself and others, I should try to kill them by giving them wounds.

And here’s a tip for werewolves: In this game, I need to be ruthless and not be afraid to draw suspicion. Even on the first night, I should bite my neighbors and use my day actions to harm the humans as well.

Card Reference

Bite: Turn a human into a wolf with the bite icon #image.jpg. Bites don’t hurt. #image.jpg(No bites allowed during the Night Phase).

Charm – Do you want to add some charm to your game? With the Charm skill, you can do just that! By equipping the charm icon, you’ll be able to fend off one bite. It’s like having an extra layer of protection! And let me tell you, it feels amazing.

Wound is a powerful and potentially dangerous element in the game. It can cause death to your character if not managed properly.

Hello there! Let’s talk about the special Salve ability. This ability is like an awesome superpower that cancels out one wound. Think of it as a magical healing potion in video game form.

Gold – Gives you a shiny gold icon that earns gold tokens when your team triumphs in the game.

When a symbol cancels something out, it only cancels out the symbol itself, not the whole card. Other symbols and effects on the card still work.
