Master the Game of Godtear

If you want to become a pro at Godtear, you’ve come to the right place. This guide will give you all the essential rules you need to know to dominate the battlefield.

Choosing Champions

The first step in becoming a Godtear master is choosing your champions wisely. These heroes will be your allies on the battlefield, so it’s crucial to pick ones that suit your playstyle. Think about the strengths and weaknesses of each champion, and consider how they’ll synergize with your chosen tactics.

Understanding the Objective

To win the game, you need to understand the objective. The goal is to claim 4 or more victory points, either by defeating enemy champions or by capturing objectives on the board. Keep a close eye on the victory point tracker and devise strategies to tip the balance in your favor.

Mastering Turn Order

The turn order in Godtear is vital. Each round is divided into a sequence of turns, with each player controlling one champion at a time. Planning your turns carefully will give you a tactical advantage and enable you to set up devastating combos.

Using Actions Wisely

Actions are the lifeblood of Godtear, so use them wisely. Each champion has a limited number of actions they can take each turn, so it’s essential to make each one count. Consider your choices carefully and think about how each action will impact the game.

Exploiting Your Champion’s Abilities

Every champion in Godtear has unique abilities that give them an edge on the battlefield. It’s crucial to understand these abilities and figure out how to exploit them to gain the upper hand. Use your champion’s abilities strategically to outmaneuver and overpower your opponents.

Creating a Balanced Team

Building a balanced team is essential for success in Godtear. Consider the strengths and weaknesses of each champion and create a team that covers all bases. A well-rounded team will be better equipped to handle any situation and overcome any challenge.

Adapting to Changing Circumstances

Adaptability is key in Godtear. The game is dynamic, and circumstances can change in an instant. Be prepared to adjust your tactics and strategies on the fly to respond to the evolving battlefield. Flexibility and quick thinking are crucial for survival.

Constantly Learning and Improving

Godtear is a game of skill and strategy, and there is always room for improvement. Keep learning from each game and use that knowledge to refine your tactics. Analyze your victories and defeats to identify areas of improvement, and never stop honing your skills.

Now that you have a solid understanding of the rules, it’s time to jump into the world of Godtear and put your newfound knowledge to the test. Remember, practice makes perfect, so keep playing, experimenting, and refining your strategies. You’ll be a Godtear master in no time!

An Introduction to Godtear

Welcome to the world of Godtear! It’s my pleasure to guide you through this thrilling game of strategy and conquest.

Godtear is a game where you become the leader of a powerful warband. You’ll have a group of heroes and their loyal followers at your command. Together, you’ll engage in epic battles, each with its unique objectives and challenges.

Unleash Your Heroic Actions

As you experience the exhilaration of Godtear, you’ll have the opportunity to perform heroic actions that can turn the tide of battle in your favor.

Each turn, you and your opponents compete to influence the momentum of the conflict. The more heroic actions you take, the closer you are to gaining the upper hand. These actions are represented by the turn token moving along the Battle Ladder, which dynamically shifts between players.

By tactically executing your hero’s abilities and utilizing your warband’s unique strengths, you’ll claim victory, dominate the battlefield, and become the ultimate champion in the realm of Godtear.

During each turn’s plot phase, me and my warband buddies focus on one thing: getting into position and strategizing our game plan for the upcoming turn. It’s a crucial moment where we lay the groundwork for our next move.

In the heat of battle, warbands put their plans into action, launching fierce attacks against enemy models.

When the turn ends, the player who possesses the turn token on their side of the battle ladder emerges victorious, earning victory points based on the value shown on the back of the token. These victory points increase as the battle escalates, reaching a crescendo before gradually diminishing as the fighting comes to a close.

Here’s how players move the turn token:

  • If you knock out an enemy champion, move the token forward by 4 steps.
  • Defeating a small enemy follower pushes the token forward by 1 step.
  • Taking down a large enemy follower allows you to move the token forward by 2 steps.
  • By making a claim action during the plot phase, you can advance the token by 1 step.
  • Have one of my banners on a specific hex during the end phase: 4 steps

Don’t get too comfy with the plan-then-do process of the plot phase and clash phase. Some heroes and followers mix things up with a unique way of playing.

The Goal of the Game

Be the first player to earn 5 victory points.

Heroes

Heroes are grouped into four different classes, and each class gets a bonus step for one of these achievements.

Slayers #image.jpgfocus on fighting enemy heroes and get a bonus step when they knock out an enemy hero. Maelstroms #image.jpgare great at getting rid of followers and get a bonus step when they knock out an enemy follower.

When it comes to playing Godtear, there are three types of champions you can choose from: Breakers, Shapers, and Guardians. Breakers have the ability to destroy enemy banners and gain a bonus step when they attack. Shapers, on the other hand, can manipulate objective hexes to gain an advantage and take an extra step when they claim a hex. Guardians excel at protecting the hexes around their banners and earn a bonus step by keeping their banner in play until the end phase.

So, if you’re looking for a champion with a strong offensive presence, Breakers may be the right choice for you. Their ability to destroy enemy banners can greatly hinder your opponents and give you an advantage on the battlefield.

If strategic manipulation is more your style, Shapers might be the champions you’re looking for. Their ability to control objective hexes can help you gain a foothold and outmaneuver your opponents. Plus, the bonus step they gain when claiming a hex can give you an extra edge in the game.

Lastly, if you prefer a defensive approach, Guardians are the champions to consider. Their ability to protect hexes around their banners can greatly disrupt your opponents’ strategies and provide a solid defense for your team. And the bonus step they earn by keeping their banner in play until the end phase can be a game-changer.

So, whether you’re an offensive powerhouse, a strategic manipulator, or a defensive expert, there’s a champion in Godtear that suits your playstyle. Choose wisely and lead your team to victory!

An objective hex is a special area on the battlefield that is filled with godtear energy. I, as a champion, can freely enter objective hexes, but my followers cannot. It’s dangerous for them because ordinary mortals cannot handle the power of godtear energy.

The starting position of objective hexes can vary depending on the scenario. During the game, the position and number of objective hexes can even change, so we need to stay alert and adaptable.

As a champion, my main goal is to find godtears and harness their power. When I discover a godtear, I claim it as my own by placing a banner, which is like a totem or standard. These banners mark the godtear as mine and show that I have claimed it.

In the game of Godtear, it’s not just about defeating enemy models. Placing and protecting my banners is crucial if I want to win. Knocking out the enemy is important, but maintaining control of the godtears is equally significant.

Preparing for Battle: Choosing Your Warband

Hey there! If you’re ready to dive into the exciting world of Godtear, the first thing you’ll need to do is select your warband. Don’t worry, I’m here to help you get started!

Step 1: Picking the Right Size

In Godtear, the game is played between two warbands of equal size. But here’s the thing: the size of your warband is something you and your opponent decide before the game begins. You can have anywhere from one to four champions and their followers on each side.

If you’re new to Godtear or tabletop games in general, I recommend starting small. Just choose one champion and their followers to begin with. This way, you can focus on learning the basics without feeling overwhelmed. Once you’ve mastered the rules and feel more confident, you can move on to games with three champions on each side. This is the standard-sized game that usually lasts about an hour.

Step 2: Selecting Your Champion(s)

Now that you’ve decided on the size of your warband, it’s time to choose your champion(s). There are plenty of amazing champions to pick from, so take your time to explore their unique abilities and playstyles. But here’s a fun twist: don’t be surprised if you and your opponent both want to use the same champion(s) during a game. Great minds think alike!

Hey, did you know that when a card mentions a champion or follower unit by name, it’s always talking about your own champion or follower unit, even if your opponent is using the same ones? It’s a neat little rule to keep things clear and fair!

Now, let’s talk about organizing your champions. You should have a dashboard for each of them. Just place the cards for each champion on their respective dashboard to keep things nice and tidy!

2. Getting Ready for Battle

  1. First, set up the battlefield in the middle of the table.
  2. Next, choose a scenario from the options (you can find them on page 25) and place the starting objective hexes as shown for that scenario. If you’re new to the game, we recommend starting with the Life scenario.
  3. Lastly, determine who goes first by random chance. It’s all part of the excitement!

I’m going to guide you through the process of setting up your warband and getting ready for battle. It’s important to understand these steps to ensure a fair and exciting game. Let’s get started!

First, I’ll explain how to choose where to deploy your warband. The first player gets to decide which deployment hexes they want to use. These hexes are located on one side of the battlefield. The second player will deploy their warband on the deployment hexes on the opposite side.

Now, it’s time to place your warband tokens on the battle ladder. Each player should place their tokens on the side of the battlefield where their deployment hexes are located. Look at the scenario rules to find the specific space for each player’s warband tokens.

To keep track of the turns, we’ll use turn tokens. Start by placing the turn token for turn 1 in the space next to the midline of the battle ladder. This space should be closer to the first player’s warband token. Place the remaining turn tokens next to the battle ladder in order, following the numbers shown.

Now that you understand the deployment process, let’s move on to the next step. It’s time to deploy your warband and get ready for an epic battle!

When I’m getting ready to send my warbands into battle, I go through a few simple steps. It’s important to follow these steps to ensure a smooth deployment. Here’s what I do:

#image.jpg
Morrigan and her Cold Bones deployed for battle
  1. I start by placing my champion and their follower unit on the battlefield.
  2. Then, it’s the second player’s turn to do the same with their champion and follower unit.
  3. We keep going back and forth, with each player taking turns placing their champions and follower units, until both of us have deployed our entire warbands.

Here’s an example of what a completed setup might look like:

Types of Cards

In Godtear, there are three types of cards. The first type is the Champions, who are the unique and powerful heroes in your warband. They have special abilities and play a crucial role in battle.

The second type of card is the Followers. These are groups of one to six models per champion, representing the forces that the champion has gathered to fight alongside them. They provide support and help the champion in their quests.

The third type of card is the Banners. These cards allow a champion to claim a godtear and gain its powers. While Banners don’t have stat cards like Champions and Followers, they are still essential to a warband’s success, as they play a vital role in the overall strategy.

Now, let’s dive deeper into the Champion cards. Each Champion card has two distinct sides. The lighter side is used during the plot phase, where you plan your moves and actions. The darker side is used during the clash phase, when the actual battles take place.

Whenever you use a Champion, you’ll flip their card over to indicate that they cannot act again in the current phase. This helps keep track of which Champions have already taken their turns and adds a layer of strategic decision-making to the game.

1 I am the champion and I have a name.

2 You look at my stats and you see that I have speed, dodge, protection, and health.

3 This card is for me, the champion.

4 This side of the card is used in a specific phase.

5 I have skills that make me unique.

The champion’s second card is all about their unique qualities and the abilities they bring to the game. On the front side, you’ll find their ultimate skill, which is a special move they can only use once in each Godtear game. Once you’ve used the ultimate skill, flip the card over to show that it’s been used and you can’t use it again in the current game.

In the world of Godtear, each champion has their own unique attributes that set them apart. These attributes include their name, origin, class, ultimate skill, and traits.

The champion’s name is their identity, the title that represents who they are and what they stand for.

The champion’s origin reveals their background and where they come from. It adds depth to their story and gives insight into their motivations and goals.

The champion’s class is a defining characteristic that determines their playstyle and abilities. There are four classes: slayer, maelstrom, shaper, and guardian. Each class has its own strengths and weaknesses, and each champion falls into one of these categories.

The champion’s ultimate skill is their most powerful ability, the move that can turn the tide of battle. It showcases their true potential and can be a game-changer in the right hands.

Lastly, the champion’s traits describe their unique qualities and specific gameplay mechanics. These traits can range from enhanced movement abilities to special attacks, adding variety and complexity to each champion’s playstyle.

Follower units, on the other hand, have a simpler design. They only have one card for their skills and traits. Like the champion cards, follower cards have a lighter side used in the plot phase and a darker side used in the clash phase. When a follower unit is used, its card is flipped to indicate that it cannot activate again until the current phase is over.

These champion attributes and follower mechanics combine to create a rich and dynamic gameplay experience in the world of Godtear. Each champion brings a unique playstyle, allowing players to explore different strategies and tactics in their quest for victory.

1 This is the name of the follower unit.

2 Here are the important stats for the follower unit: speed #image.jpg, dodge #image.jpg, protection #image.jpg, and health #image.jpg.

3 You start with a certain number of followers in the unit, and there is a maximum number allowed.

4 This side of the card is used during a specific phase of the game.

5 The follower unit has various skills.

6 The follower unit has a unique trait.

Dashboard

So here’s what you do: grab the cards for each champion and line them up on a dashboard, just like in the picture below. When you activate the champion, flip the card on the left. When you activate their follower unit, flip the card on the right. And remember, you only flip the middle card when you use the champion’s ultimate skill. It’s that simple!

Phases of a Turn

When playing a game of Godtear, there are 3 – 5 turns, and the game ends once a player accumulates 5 victory points. Each turn consists of two action phases, followed by a phase to reset for the next turn’s action.

In the plot phase, the warband as a whole takes action. First, I activate all of my champions and followers, and then you do the same as the second player.

In the clash phase, individual champion and follower units take turns activating, alternating between players. However, models do not activate during the end phase, which is when the winner of the turn is determined.

#image.jpgPlot Phase

  1. As the first player, I activate each champion and follower unit in my warband.

In Godtear, there are different phases that guide the flow of the game. Let’s take a look at each phase and what happens during them.

Initiative Phase:

This phase determines who will be the first player for the round. Each player rolls a dice, and the player with the highest result becomes the first player. If there is a tie, the player who won the previous round keeps the initiative.

Activation Phase:

During this phase, players take turns activating their units. The first player activates each champion and follower unit in their warband. Then, the second player does the same. This back-and-forth activation continues until all the units have been activated.

Clash Phase:

In this phase, each player takes turns activating one champion or follower unit from their warband. The first player activates one unit, then the second player does the same. This process repeats until every unit has been activated.

End Phase:

The end phase is the final phase of the round. There are no activations during this phase. It is simply a phase for players to wrap up any remaining effects or abilities before the next round begins.

Remember, each phase has its own set of actions and rules. By following these phases, you can navigate the game smoothly and make strategic decisions to outmaneuver your opponent.

  • When calculating end phase points, both players receive 5 points for each banner belonging to their guardian champions and 4 points for each banner from other champion classes. The player with more points than their opponent can move the turn token closer to their warband token, one step for each point they are ahead. Finally, all banners are removed from the battlefield.
  • If a player has the turn token on their side of the battle ladder, they win the turn. They flip the token over and earn victory points equal to the number displayed.
  • Make sure to follow the scenario rules during the end phase.
  • The next turn’s first player is chosen by the player who didn’t win the previous turn. They can pick to be the first player or the second player for the upcoming turn. The turn token should be placed beside the midline of the battle ladder, closer to the first player’s warband token.

The end phase might seem long, but it’s actually quite simple. After playing a game or two, you’ll naturally start following the first few steps without thinking too much!

Let’s talk about movement. There are two ways for models to move to new hexes on the battlefield. When a model moves one hex, you place it in an empty adjacent hex. If you’re moving two or more hexes, repeat the process of moving into empty adjacent hexes as many times as needed. When placing a model, you can put it in any empty hex that satisfies the placing rule’s conditions.

When you place a model in a new hex, whether it moves on its own or is deliberately positioned, it becomes part of that hex. However, there are two exceptions to this rule: models can only enter empty hexes, with a couple of small followers’ exceptions.

In the case of small followers from the same unit, they can enter a hex that already contains one or two models from their unit. This means that up to three small followers from the same unit can be in a hex together.

In Godtear, the models from a single follower unit can be strategically spread all over the battlefield if desired. However, there are often advantages to keeping them grouped or near their champion.

Whenever possible, make a move towards your opponent’s banners and remove them from the battlefield. Holding onto a banner until the end of the turn is highly effective in winning the turn. In fact, it’s just as valuable as eliminating an opposing champion!

So, I have to rewrite this text while keeping the HTML markup intact. Easy peasy! Let’s get started.

Ever wondered how models can make those incredible poses and stylish movements? Well, let me fill you in. Sometimes, models need to flaunt those fierce moves in a particular way – it’s like their secret dance routine.

Now, you might be thinking, “But how do they do it?” Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. I’ll explain all the key factors that contribute to their extraordinary performances.

Firstly, posture plays a vital role. Having good posture helps models present themselves with confidence and elegance. It’s all about standing tall, shoulders back, and chin up. By doing so, they create a striking visual impact.

Next, facial expressions are crucial. Models have mastered the art of conveying different emotions through their faces. From a captivating smile to an intense gaze, they know how to make their expressions speak volumes.

But wait, there’s more! Body language is another essential aspect. Models skillfully use their body movements to tell a story. Whether it’s a graceful twirl or a powerful stride, every movement is purposeful and captivating.

Lastly, let’s not forget about the right outfit. Choosing the perfect attire that complements their body shape and enhances their overall appearance is key. A well-selected outfit can elevate the entire performance.

So, there you have it. Modeling requires more than just standing still and looking pretty. It’s about embodying a character, expressing emotions, and wowing the audience with every move.

Now, the next time you see a model striking a pose, you’ll have a deeper appreciation for the skill and artistry behind it.

Getting closer – The fewer hexes I move, the closer I am to the other model.

Traveling Distance – The further you move, the greater the distance.

Going Straight – When I move, I stick to a straight line without deviating or changing direction.

    Measuring Distances

In Godtear, distances are measured in hexes, just like when determining movement. To find out how far apart objects are, all you need to do is count the number of hexes between them. Take a look at the diagram below for some examples of range measurements.

    #image.jpg

I am standing within 1 hex of Nia, which means I am right next to her.

    #image.jpg

I’m in the midst of the battlefield, just 2 steps away from the chilling presence of the Cold Bones.

    #image.jpg

I am within 4 hexes of Morrigan.

    Using My Models

When it’s time to take action, both you and I have a specific way of activating our champions and follower units:

    1. First, you choose one champion or one follower unit in your warband.
    2. Next, you are allowed to take up to two actions with that champion or follower unit. But remember, you can only use a specific action once during this activation, and once you start an action, you can’t stop or interrupt it. It’s a rule.
    3. Some skills and traits can give you a bonus action, which means you get a third action for the model. Just keep in mind that you can only get one bonus action per activation.

Once you’ve taken your actions, you flip the champion phase card or the follower card to let everyone know that the champion or follower unit cannot activate again this phase.

When I’m playing a game, each time one of my champions or follower units takes an action, I call that an activation. It’s like their turn to do something cool!

But here’s the thing – sometimes a skill or trait lets a model take an action even outside of its activation. And guess what? They can still use that action when it’s their turn to shine. Pretty neat, right?

Actions for Champions and Follower Units

    Advance Action

The advance action is all about moving. It lets a champion model or each model in a follower unit move a certain number of hexes, up to how fast they can go. It’s a common way to get around, but there are other ways too! Some skills and traits can also help models move.

    Skill Action

Skill actions are where things get really interesting. These are the actions that let a model show off their abilities and do all sorts of cool stuff. And get this – if a champion or follower unit has a bunch of different skills, they can use one of them for each of their actions! But remember, they can only use the same skill once per activation. Gotta pace themselves, you know?

    Actions Just for Champions

    Mastering Your Ultimate Skill

Hey there! I want to talk to you about something super cool called the ultimate skill action. It’s a special ability that champions in the game can use. You might be wondering, “What exactly is an ultimate skill?” Well, let me tell you!

Ultimate skills are like regular skills, but there’s a catch: you can only use them once per game. Once you’ve used your ultimate skill, you have to flip your trait card to the back to show that you can’t use it again. It’s like a secret weapon that you can only unleash once!

Now, not all ultimate skills are the same. Some are super powerful versions of regular skills, while others give you new options to use in battle. And get this, some ultimate skills even break the rules of the game! Isn’t that cool?

Taking Control with the Claim Action

Alright, let’s move on to the claim action. This is a handy move that can only be used during the plot phase, and it’s all about taking control of objective hexes. But here’s the catch: you can only do it if you’re right next to an empty objective hex. So make sure you position yourself strategically!

When you decide to use the claim action, you simply place your champion’s banner model in the empty objective hex that’s adjacent to you. It’s a way of saying, “Hey, this objective is mine now!” So go out there and claim those hexes like a true champion!

Unite Your Forces with the Rally Action

Now, let’s talk about the rally action. This is a really cool move that can have a big impact on the game. Just like the claim action, you can only use it during the plot phase. It’s all about bringing your troops together and getting them ready for battle.

Here’s how it works: when you use the rally action, you can choose any number of your champions and move them to a new hex. It’s like a gathering of your forces, getting them ready to fight as a team. So if you want to bring your champions together and create a powerful strategy, the rally action is the way to go!

When a champion gets knocked out, they have to do something called a rally action before they can keep fighting.

During a rally action, the champion is no longer knocked out. All the wound tokens are taken off the champion.

    Actions Only Followers Can Do

    Recruit Action

If a follower unit has fewer models on the battlefield than its unit size, it can use the recruit action to bring a model back. One model from the follower unit is put in a hex next to the champion.

If the follower is big, you take all the wound tokens off of it. If there’s no hex next to the champion where a follower can be put, the follower is put in one of your deployment hexes instead.

Get in the Game with Siems

In Godtear, skills are what drive the action forward. They’re like the magic spells, special moves, and secret techniques that make the game exciting. Whether you’re blasting enemies with power-ups, healing your teammates, or moving your characters strategically, skills are the key to success. And let me tell you, understanding how to use them effectively will give you the upper hand in any game. So, let’s dive into the world of Siems and uncover the secrets behind these game-changing abilities.

    1 What’s the skill called?

2 What models can you use this skill on?

3 Range – How far can a model be and still be affected?

4 Accuracy – The number of dice rolled to hit your target (skills only).

When I’m trying to hit my target, there’s this thing called “accuracy”, how well I can actually hit it. The more accuracy I have, the better my chances are of hitting my target.

Imagine I’m playing a game and I have to shoot an arrow at a target. If I have high accuracy, it means I have more dice to roll. And the more dice I roll, the greater my chances of hitting the target. It’s like having more chances to hit the bullseye.

But accuracy only applies to skills, not everything I do. It’s like a special ability that only certain things have. So when I’m using a skill in a game or in real life, I need to think about my accuracy. How many dice do I get to roll? How good am I at hitting my target?

Accuracy is important because it can really make a difference. If I have low accuracy, it means I have fewer dice to roll. And if I have fewer dice, it means I have fewer chances of hitting my target. So I need to make sure I have high accuracy if I want to increase my chances of success.

So remember, when it comes to hitting your target, accuracy is key. The more accuracy you have, the better your chances of success. So if you want to improve your skills or increase your chances of hitting a target, make sure you take accuracy into account.

5 Damage – I roll five dice to hurt my target (only if I’m using a skill).

6 Special rules for the skill.

When I use a skill with a follower unit, I can choose one follower to use the skill. But if there are multiple followers in the same hex and they’re part of the same unit, they can collaborate to make the skill stronger.

I should check the skill description to see what happens if I use it with one, two, or three followers in the same hex.

    #image.jpg

    #image.jpg

When I use a skill and there’s only one model in the hex with me, I use the first row of the skill. But when there are two models in the hex, I use the second row. And if there are three models in the hex, I use the third row of the skill.

Let me show you an example of a skill:

    1. I choose my Blinding Light skill and target Morrigan because she’s within range.
    2. Morrigan has a dodge stat of 2, so I need to roll a 2 or higher to hit her.
    3. The Blinding Light skill has an accuracy of 4, so I roll four dice to see if the attack hits. All four dice show a 1, which gives me a total accuracy of 4. Since my accuracy is higher than Morrigan’s dodge stat, my skill hits!
    4. The Hit Effect of Blinding Light is a Distract token, so I add that to Morrigan. Now it’s time to deal damage!

Hey there! Today, I want to talk to you about a really cool game called Godtear. It’s a game where you get to play as mighty champions battling it out for supremacy. Sounds exciting, right? Well, let’s dive in and learn more about the game!

One of the most important things to understand in Godtear is how skills work. Skills are abilities that your champions and followers can use to gain an edge in the game. But before we get into that, let’s talk about dice. In Godtear, dice play a crucial role in determining the outcome of certain actions, such as attacking.

Let’s take a look at an example using the skill called Blinding Light. This skill uses five dice for the damage roll. So, when you use this skill, you roll five dice. In our example, two of the dice show a 1, two are blank, and one shows a 2. Now, you might be wondering, what does all of this mean?

Well, here’s where things get interesting. The total of the dice roll is 4. But remember, Morrigan, one of the champions, has a protection of 3. So we subtract 3 from the total. That leaves us with 1. In this case, the skill results in 1 wound being inflicted on Morrigan. To keep track of this wound, we place a wound token on Morrigan. Neat, right?

If you’re still with me, great! Now, let’s move on to another important element in understanding skills: the model type icon. When you’re looking at a skill, the model type icon is the first thing you should note. It tells you how the skill is used.

In most cases, a skill will affect either the champion or all models in the follower unit using the skill. However, it’s always a good idea to read the skill carefully, as some skills may only affect a single follower or followers in a specific hex.

So, there you have it. Skills and dice are two essential components of Godtear that can make or break a game. Understanding how they work is crucial if you want to emerge victorious. Now that you know the basics, it’s time to gather your friends, choose your champions, and embark on an epic quest for Godtear glory!

    #image.jpg

When it comes to skills in the game, something important to keep in mind is that they can have different effects on different units. For example, a skill can affect a friendly champion or follower unit that is within range. This means that the unit using the skill, whether it’s a champion or a follower, will be affected.

Some skills have a wider range and can affect multiple models. These skills can either affect only followers or both followers and champions. It’s important to carefully read the skill description to understand who it can affect.

A skill can also have different effects depending on the type of model it targets. For example, it can affect banners or hexes, which are objects on the game board. The skill can also have effects on both friendly and enemy models. In some cases, a skill can even combine multiple effects into one.

It’s important to note that if a skill doesn’t have any dice listed for damage, you don’t need to make a damage roll. This means that effects that add dice to damage rolls won’t apply to skills that don’t have a damage roll.

#image.jpgSo, when I use a special skill, I normally pick one enemy to focus on. But, there are some skills that let me attack more than one enemy at a time. Pretty cool, right? Now, when I use a skill that targets multiple enemies, here’s what happens. I roll the Godtear dice to see if my skill works or not. It’s like a game within a game!

    1. When I use a skill to control a model, I can choose an enemy model within range as my target.
    2. To see if my skill hits or misses, I have to make a hit roll. First, I gather a number of dice equal to the skill’s Accuracy and roll them.
    3. I add up the number of symbols on the dice to calculate the accuracy total.
    4. If the accuracy total is equal to or greater than the target’s dodge, my skill hits. But if it’s not, the skill misses and the action ends right away.
    5. If my skill has any hit effects, I resolve them now.
    6. If my skill has any dice listed for damage, I need to find out how much damage it causes. To do this, I make a damage roll.

    Calculating Damage and Inflicting Wounds

So let’s talk about how to figure out the damage and inflict wounds in Godtear. Starting with the damage calculation, here’s what you need to do:

    • Add up the symbols on the dice you rolled.

Next, let’s move on to inflicting wounds:

    1. Determine the number of wounds the damage causes by following these steps:
    2. Subtract the target’s protection value from the total damage.
    3. The resulting number is the number of wounds.
    4. Gather the appropriate number of wound tokens and place them above the target’s card on its dashboard.

    Understanding Status Effects

In Godtear, there are five different status tokens. Each token has a boon on one side and a blight on the other. Boons give champions and follower units bonuses, while blights impose penalties on them.

When I have a follower unit with a boon or blight, all the models in my unit are affected. If my champion or follower unit is affected by a boon or blight, I place a status token above that model’s card on its dashboard. These boons and blights stay in play from turn to turn until they expire. When a boon or blight expires, I simply remove its token.

In simpler language, I can never have more than one of the same type of status token. So if I already have a token and something tries to give me another one of the same type, that effect is ignored. However, if I already have a token and then gain a token with the opposite effect, both tokens are removed from my dashboard.

A boon or blight only affects one specific action, like rolling a die or moving forward. Once it’s done affecting that action, it goes away immediately and won’t affect any other actions.

    Boons

You’re probably wondering, what’s the big deal about boons? Why are they so important? And if you’re curious, then you’re in for a treat!

Boons are like special rewards, gifts that come your way when the universe is feeling extra kind. They’re the cherry on top, the icing on the cake, the little things that make life even sweeter.

Imagine this: You wake up one morning feeling a little down. The weather is gloomy, and everything just seems a bit off. But then, out of nowhere, you get a call from your best friend inviting you to a fun movie night. Suddenly, your mood lifts, and all those gloomy clouds disappear. That, my friend, is a boon in action! It’s a pleasant surprise that turns your day around and brings a smile to your face.

And here’s the best part: boons can come in all shapes and sizes. They can be as simple as finding a lucky penny on the sidewalk or as grand as winning a dream vacation. It could be stumbling upon a beautiful flower during your morning walk, or getting a promotion at work that you’ve been dreaming of. Boons come when you least expect them, adding a touch of magic to your life.

But boons aren’t just about luck. They’re also about gratitude. When you appreciate the little joys and blessings that come your way, you attract more positivity into your life. It’s like a chain reaction of good vibes – the more gratitude you feel, the more boons you’ll receive. It’s a wonderful cycle that keeps on giving.

So, how can you invite more boons into your life? Well, it’s quite simple, really. Start by shifting your perspective. Instead of focusing on the negatives, look for the silver linings. Find the beauty in the small things. Pay attention to the moments that bring you joy and express gratitude for them. By doing so, you open the door for more boons to come your way.

Remember, boons are all around us. Sometimes, they might be disguised as challenges or setbacks, but if you look closely, you’ll find the hidden blessings within. It’s like a treasure hunt where the prize is happiness. So keep your eyes open, embrace the unexpected, and let the boons flow into your life like a gentle breeze on a summer day. After all, you deserve them!

    Blights

I have always found it puzzling how something can be both beautiful and destructive at the same time. Take blights, for example. They are a fascinating phenomenon that can bring both wonder and devastation. But what are blights, exactly?

Blights are something I’m sure you’ve heard of before. They are known for their ability to harm and even kill plants. These pesky organisms are caused by various factors, such as bacteria, fungi, or even environmental conditions. Blights can attack different parts of a plant, from its leaves to its roots, causing damage and inhibiting growth. Sounds pretty alarming, doesn’t it?

So why are blights such a double-edged sword? On the one hand, they can wipe out entire crops, leading to economic losses and food scarcity. On the other hand, they also play a crucial role in the ecosystem by breaking down organic matter and helping with nutrient cycling. It’s like they have the power to create chaos and balance at the same time.

When someone mentions blight, the first thing that comes to mind might be the Irish Potato Famine. This devastating event in history was caused by a blight that wiped out the potato crops, leading to widespread famine and population decline. It’s a stark reminder of the immense impact blights can have on our lives and society.

If you’re a gardener or farmer, blights are something you need to be aware of. Understanding how they work and how to protect your plants is crucial for ensuring their well-being. By following proper prevention and treatment methods, you can minimize the risks and keep your plants healthy.

In conclusion, blights are a fascinating and perplexing aspect of nature. They have the power to both elevate and devastate, creating a delicate balance. So next time you encounter a blight, remember the wonders and dangers they hold and take appropriate measures to protect your plants.

    Knockout

When a model takes wounds equal to its health stat, it gets knocked out. A model can never have more wound tokens than its health stat, and any extra wounds are lost.

    Champions

If a champion gets knocked out, the player who caused the knockout can move the champion up to 2 hexes. Remove all status tokens above the champion’s card from its dashboard, but keep the champion on the battlefield in the chosen hex.

A knocked out champion can’t move, be placed, or acquire status tokens. The only way to get rid of wounds from a knocked out champion is by performing the rally action.

To get back in the fight, a champion who has been knocked out needs to use the rally action the next time it gets a chance to act. While a champion has wounds equal to its health, it can’t do anything else and won’t get healed until it uses the rally action.

When a follower model is knocked out, it gets taken off the battlefield. If the last follower in a unit gets removed, discard all status tokens above the unit’s card on its dashboard.

Even if a follower unit doesn’t have any models on the battlefield, it can still act normally. It just needs to recruit before doing anything else.

If a model gets removed from the battlefield by an ability without taking wounds equal to its health, it won’t count as being knocked out for steps on the battle ladder.

At the end of the game, all tokens should be discarded.
