Why is it Important to Understand the Rules?
Understanding the rules of buying and selling games is crucial. It ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience for both the buyer and the seller. By following these rules, you can avoid misunderstandings, scams, and other potential issues.
What You Need to Consider

Did you ever think that what you consider a fancy house might be someone else’s ordinary place to live? It’s true! Some people are happy living in a cardboard box, while others dream of having a luxurious RV, treehouse, igloo, or skyscraper.
Imagine a thrilling game where you have to bid and trick your opponents to win the most valuable properties. Here, it’s not about how much you spend to obtain the properties, but how much profit you can make by selling them.
During the bidding and property acquisition stage, it’s crucial to manage your money wisely. Then comes the exciting part of outsmarting (or outguessing) your fellow tycoons when it’s time to sell. You need to be clever and strategic to become the wealthiest real estate mogul and emerge as the ultimate winner!
Components
- 30 Property Cards (Numbered 1-30)
- 30 Currency Cards (Valued $0-$15,000 except $1,000, two of each)
- 60 $1,000 Coins
- 12 $2,000 Coins
Object of the Game
I’m here to tell you about a fun game called “Property Pursuit”. The goal is to be a savvy real estate mogul and make as much money as possible. How do you do it? By buying valuable properties for less and selling them for more!
Whoever ends up with the most money at the end of the game is the winner. Are you ready to become a tycoon?
Setup
Before we get started, let’s set up the game. First, separate the cards into two piles: Property and Currency. Then, give each pile a good shuffle. We won’t need the Currency Cards just yet, so let’s put them aside for now. Take the Property Cards and place them face down to form a deck.
Alright, let’s talk about how to play this game. First things first, let’s distribute some money. Depending on how many people are playing, you’ll get a certain amount of Coins. If there are 3 or 4 players, each person gets two $2,000 Coins and fourteen $1,000 Coins. If there are 5 or 6 players, each person gets two $2,000 Coins and ten $1,000 Coins. Got it so far?
Now, let’s make things interesting. In games with three players, we need to remove six Property Cards and six Currency Cards from the game. Don’t look at them, just set them aside. If there are four players, we’ll remove two Property Cards and two Currency Cards. Make sure to discard these cards and put them back in the box – we don’t need them right now.
Now it’s time to start the game!
Phase 1: Buying Properties
Here’s what we need to do: turn face up the same number of Property Cards as there are players. For example, if there are four players, we’ll turn up four Property Cards. Now, don’t worry – we want everyone to have a chance to get a property, so we’ll have an auction. Each player can bid on the properties or choose to pass. Got it? Good, let’s get to it!
Bidding
When it’s my turn to start the game, I put some of my Coins on the table. Then, the game goes around the table in a clockwise direction. The person next to me needs to decide if they want to make a bid or pass.
If they decide to bid, they have to bid a higher amount than the previous bid. We keep going around the table, bidding and raising the amount, until all players have decided to pass.
Passing
So here’s the deal: if you decide to pass during the bidding, you get to snag the property that’s left on the table with the lowest value. Plus, you get to take back half of your bid, rounded down. Let’s say you threw down a bid of $3,000 earlier but end up passing. Well, you’ll get $1,000 back in your hand, and the rest of the money goes bye-bye, returned to the bank and out of the game.
Now, when all the players except one have passed, that last bidder gets the property with the highest value. Here’s the catch though: they have to cough up the full amount of their bid to the bank. But here’s the cool part: if you’re not feeling up to bidding for the least valuable property, no worries. You can just pass, pay zip, zero, nada, and still claim the least valuable property for free. Yep, free of charge. It’s as easy as that!
Hey there!
Here’s a helpful tip: remember to keep your money secret!
When you buy properties, you place them face down in front of you.
The player with the most valuable property will then reveal the next set of Property Cards for auction, and the game continues with bidding or passing.
This process goes on until all the Property Cards have been sold.
Once all the Property Cards are sold, we move on to Phase 2, where things get really interesting!
In Phase 2, it’s time to sell your Property Cards and make some money. You do this by trading your Property Cards for Currency Cards.
Just like in Phase 1, the same number of Currency Cards will be revealed face up as there are players.
Alright folks, here’s how this game works. We each have our own Property Cards, and the goal is to play one of them face down in front of us. Once we’re all ready, we reveal them at the same time.
Now, the player who plays the most valuable Property Card gets the top Currency Card – the big cheese, so to speak. The player with the second most valuable Property Card gets the second highest-valued Currency Card, and so on. After that, we can ditch those Property Cards, they’re out of the game.
When It All Ends
The game wraps up when all of us have sold all our properties. Then, we tally up our Currency Cards and the Coins we have left. Whoever has the most money in total is the winner – the true tycoon! And in case of a tie, the player with the most Coins takes home the glory.
