General Overview

The Family Feud is a fun and engaging game where two families compete to guess popular survey answers. The goal is to guess the most common answers to various survey questions. Are you ready for some friendly competition?

How the Game Works

Here’s how it goes: there are five rounds in a typical Family Feud game. In each round, a question is asked, and both families have a chance to guess the most popular answers. The team that guesses the top answer earns control of the round.

The team with control then takes turns guessing answers. Each team member can provide one answer per turn, and a team can continue guessing as long as their answers are on the board. If a family gives an incorrect answer, they receive a strike. Three strikes, and control is transferred to the other family.

The game continues until all the answers on the board are guessed or one team gets three strikes. At the end of each round, points are awarded based on the number of correct answers guessed.

Scoring Points

In the first three rounds, the points are single-valued, meaning each correct answer earns the team the number of points equal to the survey answer’s position (e.g., the top answer is worth 1 point, the second answer is worth 2 points, and so on).

In the fourth round, the point values are doubled, and in the final round, they are tripled. So, the later rounds can significantly impact the game!

The Fast Money Round

The final round is called the Fast Money Round. The team with the most points gets to play this round. In this round, one player from the winning team is sent out of the room while the other player answers five rapid-fire survey questions.

The player gets 20 seconds to provide answers, and the goal is to accumulate 200 points in total. If the player fails to reach 200 points, they still earn 5 points per correct answer.

A successful Fast Money Round can make all the difference in determining the overall winner of the game!

What’s the Goal?

The goal of this game is to have the most points at the end by matching the most popular survey answers.

How to Set Up

Get the scorepads ready and grab a pencil (not included).

There are Face Off cards and Fast Money cards. Each Face Off card has one survey question, while each Fast Money card has five questions. Give the cards a good shuffle.

Now it’s time to pick a Host. The rest of the players will split into two teams. If you have an odd number of players, try to make the teams as fair as possible.

Each team will choose a Captain, decide on the order of the other players, and come up with a team name.

The Host’s Job

In this game, there are a few things you need to do. Let’s break it down step by step.

First, reveal the answers and point values. This will let everyone know what they’re playing for.

Next, mark the strikes on the scoreboard. Keep track of how many wrong answers each player gets.

You might need a calculator to add up the scores. It’s important to keep track of who’s winning!

Now, let’s talk about how to play the game.

The game is for three or more players. The goal is to match your answers with the most popular survey answers.

There are four parts to the game. First, there are three Face Off rounds. In each round, two players go head to head. The host asks a question and the players try to give the most popular answers.

After the Face Off rounds, it’s time for the Fast Money Bonus round. This is where things get really exciting. The host asks the same questions again, but this time the players have to give the answers that they think will get the most points.

Remember, the more popular the answer, the more points you’ll get. So be strategic and think carefully about your answers!

The Scorepads

Let’s talk about Scorepads! We have two different types: the Face Off Answer Pad and the Fast Money/Scorecard Pad.

During the Face Off rounds, I write down the answers and points on the Face Off Answer Pad. The number one answer and its points go in the number one spot, the number two answer and its points go in the number two spot, and so on. If a response is not on the Face Off Question Card, I put a Strike in the Strike box to keep track.

After each survey question or round, we add up the points and write them down on the Scorecard for the winning team. We use a fresh Face Off Answer Sheet for the next round.

In the Fast Money Bonus Round, we write down our answers on the Fast Money Answer Pad.

The Face Off Rounds

Let’s talk about the exciting Face Off rounds in the game. It’s where the real competition begins! In this round, two players, one from each team, go head-to-head to try and gain control of the question by giving the more popular answer. But remember, it’s not always about being number one!

Before we jump into the action, each team must select a player for the Face Off. These players will represent their teams and battle it out!

The Host takes charge and reads out Question #1. Here’s where the fun really starts. Both players listen attentively, ready to raise their hand when they have an answer to the question. In case they raise their hands at the same time, the Host will decide who responded first.

The player who raises their hand first gets to answer the question right away. If their answer happens to be the most popular one on the board, they have a choice to make. They can either pass the question to the opposing team or decide to play and try to win more points.

However, if the answer given is not the top answer, it’s time for the opposing team to step in. They now have the chance to give their answer. If their answer is ranked higher than the first player’s answer, they get to decide whether to pass or play. But if their answer is lower, control goes back to the first team for another shot at victory.

Note: If you don’t answer right away, you lose your turn.

If your answer isn’t in the top eight, the other team gets a chance to answer.

If both teams give wrong answers, the next players have a go in the same order.

In a three-player game, everyone gets another chance until someone gets it right.

Write the answers and their points on the Face Off Answer Pad.

The team that wins the one-on-one Face Off can choose to play or pass the question to the other team. The team that plays is in control.

Question #1: I’m going to ask you a question, and you need to guess the answers one by one. You can’t ask for help from anyone else.

If there are three players, the person in control has to try and guess all the remaining answers before they make three mistakes.

Duties of the Host

The host will tell you how many answers there are for the question. When you give a correct answer, the host will announce it and tell you where it ranks on the scoreboard (#1-8) and how many points you earned. They will write this down on the “Face Off Answer Pad”.

If you give a wrong answer or take too long to answer (the host will decide), it will count as a strike. The host will put an “X” in one of the three strike boxes.

How to Win the Round

When we, the controlling team, answer all the remaining questions for Question #1 without receiving three strikes, the points we earn are added to our Scorecard.

However, if we get three strikes before guessing all the remaining answers, our opponents have a chance to steal the points. Each member of their team can provide a potential answer, and their Captain will determine which response she believes is missing or the winning answer. If the answer is on the board, the opposing team wins all the points that have been revealed, and these points are added to their Scorecard. But if they fail to guess correctly, we, the controlling team, will receive the revealed points.

Round 2 Face Off – Double Points

Question #2: I’m excited to see who the new players are! In this round, each team selects one member for a head-to-head challenge. Here’s how it works: the host will read out Question #2, just like before, but this time, the point value that the host calls out will be doubled when added to the scorecard.

Round 3 Face Off – Double Points

Question #3: Now it’s time for a new round of one-on-one face-offs! Each team will choose another player to compete. The host will read out Question #3, and the game will follow the same rules as in Questions #1 and #2. However, this time, the point value called out by the host will be doubled when added to the scorecard.

The Fast Money Bonus Round – Triple Points

Who gets to play: One player from each team. To add even more excitement, the team captains will now pick one member from their own team to play the Fast Money Bonus Round. This is where the stakes are highest because every point is tripled!

When we play this game, we can’t help our teammates pick the most popular answers. The person in charge chooses a card with a Fast Money question and reads all five questions one after another.

Each time a question is asked, the two chosen players must give one answer each, and they write their answers on the Fast Money Answer Pad.

The player from the team with the highest points at the end of the Face Off rounds gets to answer first, while the other player answers second.

The questions need to be read quickly, and the person in charge decides how much time each player has to answer.

We write down the answers on the Scoreboard, but we don’t write down the scores. If someone gives an answer that’s not on the answer card, the person in charge says “Try Again.” The player then gets one chance to give a different answer for that question.
