The Components

Here’s what you’ll find inside the box:

  • 10 Location Cards
  • 38 Treasure Cards
  • 7 Character Cards
  • 1 10-sided die
  • 1 Dragon Tile
  • 1 Dragon Token
  • A rulebook to guide you

The Goal of the Game

Your mission is to navigate through the treacherous dungeon, dodging the fearsome dragon, and make it out alive with the most valuable treasure.

Let’s Get Started

First, place the Dragon Tile in the center of the table. Depending on the number of players, put the Dragon Token on a specific square:

  • Square #8 for 5 players
  • Square #7 for 4 players
  • Square #6 for 3 players
  • Square #5 for 2 players

Now, each player will receive a Character Card. You can either choose your character or let fate decide.

Put your Character Card in front of you, making sure the side without injuries is facing up.

First, take the 10 Location Cards and shuffle them together. Then, place them face down to the left of the Dragon Tile. As you play the game, any discarded Location Cards should be placed face up to the right of the Dragon Tile.

Let me give you an example: imagine you’re playing with 4 players.

Hey there! Let’s get started with the game. First, shuffle the Treasure Cards and give 4 to each player. Place the remaining cards facedown on top of the Dragon Tile to create the Treasure Deck.

How to Play

The bravest player goes first, and the game continues in a clockwise direction.

On your turn, you have to choose one of the following actions:

  1. Charge (move into the next room)
  2. Hide (stay in the shadows)
  3. Cry Like a Baby (yes, adventurers cry too)

1. Charge

If you choose to charge, draw the top Location Card from the Dungeon Deck and place it face-up on the discard pile. Then, apply the effects of that card.

2. Hide

If you want to hide, start by discarding Treasure Cards with a value of at least 1 point. Once that’s done, you’ll need to take a Sneak Test.

Sneak Test

Roll the die and then follow these steps:

Alright, let’s go through what happens when I roll the die in the dungeon. If the number I get is higher than the number of Location Cards left in the Dungeon Deck, a few things occur. First, the Dragon loses one Temper Point, and I move the Dragon Token one space down. It’s worth noting that if the Dragon loses its last Temper Point, the game comes to an end. Then, I need to shuffle all the Location Cards together to form the Dungeon Deck again. Finally, I have a choice to make. I can either charge into the next room or pass the turn to the next player.

Now, if the number I roll is less than or equal to the number of Location Cards left in the Dungeon Deck, things change a bit. In this case, I MUST charge into the next room, there’s no other option.

Here’s something important to remember – if I roll a 0, it means automatic failure! So, be careful!

3. Cry Like a Baby

When I encounter the dragon, I get so scared that I lose all my dignity, and even some of my treasure. I end up hiding behind the other adventurers like a baby. It’s not a good look, but what can I do?

When I act cowardly, I have to face the consequences and give up at least one Treasure Card that has a value of 2 points or more. It’s a tough price to pay for my actions.

Just remember:

The dungeon doesn’t give me any change back, so if I choose to pay more than I need to, I lose the extra coins.

Places I Can Go

The Fearsome Dragon:

Oh no! I got hit by the Dragon’s Breath! It’s not looking good for me.

If my character is uninjured, I’ll have to flip the Character Card to the injured side. That’s going to change things up.

But, if I was already injured before the Dragon attack, then it’s game over for me. I’ll turn into cinders and be eliminated from the game. That’s a tough break.

All of my Treasures will be put into the discard pile. That’s a bummer, but I guess it’s all part of the game.

  1. The Dragon loses one Temper Point. It spits fire and calms down – a little. The Dragon Token moves down one space.
  2. All the Location Cards are shuffled back together to reform the Dungeon Deck. Gotta keep things fresh!

Now it’s the next player’s turn. Time to see if they have better luck than I did!

Welcome to the Treasure Hall!

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Draw a Treasure Card, and then you have two options:
  2. Pass the turn to the next player.
  3. Take another turn and continue your exploration.

Other Location Cards:

When you encounter an Other Location Card, here’s what you do:

First, apply the effect indicated on the card. Then, look at the pictogram on the bottom and follow the instructions that match it.

It’s your turn to pass the game to the next player.

Let’s go in a different direction right away.

Magical Potions and Powerful Talismans

You have the freedom to use as many Potions and Talismans as you want during your turn. Feel free to play them alongside your mandatory action of Charging, Hiding, or Crying Like a Baby.

Potions:

The Potions possess incredible effects that are clearly described on the cards themselves. Once you’ve used a potion, it goes into the discard pile. Remember, the only potion you can play during someone else’s turn is the Annulation Potion, which lets you cancel another potion.

Talismans:

Talismans are special items that stay with you until the Dungeon Deck is reshuffled. At that point, any Talismans you still have in play will be discarded.

Keep in mind: If you ever run out of cards in the Treasure Deck, simply shuffle all the discarded Treasure Cards together and create a new draw pile with them, facing down.

Character Cards

Hey there! Did you know that each character in this game has a unique Power? It’s true! Just take a look at their Character Cards.

Now, here’s something cool. At the start of every turn, before you choose what you want to do, you can decide to use your character’s special power. Pretty awesome, huh?

But remember, once you use the power, the Character Card is turned at a 90-degree angle, which means you won’t be able to use it again until you reactivate it.

But don’t worry! All the powers automatically reactivate as soon as the Dragon Location Card is drawn. So, there’s always a chance to use your awesome powers again!

The Game Comes to an End

Alright, let’s talk about how the game ends. There are two ways for the game to come to a close:

  1. If the Dragon’s Temper Point reaches 0 (meaning the Dragon has lost all its patience), it will go back to sleep and the surviving adventurers can escape the dungeon without being chased. Now it’s time to determine the winner by counting the gold coins on each player’s Treasure Cards. The adventurer with the highest value of treasures will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie, the player with the single highest Treasure Card will claim victory.
  2. If all the adventurers are killed by the Dragon, then the Dragon will emerge victorious in the game!
