The Goal

Your mission, should you choose to accept it (and trust me, you’ll want to), is to take turns picking up bananas from the jungle floor. The player who collects the most bananas by the end of the game is the ultimate Cheeky Monkey champ!

Setting the Stage

Now that we’re on the same page, let’s get things rolling. Spread out all the banana cards, facedown, nice and neat. Make sure you have your monkey miniatures ready. Each player picks a cheeky monkey mini and places it on a starting tree.

Catching Those Bananas

Ready…set…go! It’s time to start snatching those bananas. Take turns rolling the die and move your monkey according to the number you roll. If your monkey lands on a banana card, congratulations! You get to keep it. Just collect the card and proudly place it in front of you.

But, watch out! There are some cheeky monkeys out there who want to steal your precious bananas. If you land on a spot with another player’s monkey, prepare for some friendly competition! The monkey with the higher number on the roll wins the banana card. It’s a monkey-eat-monkey world out there!

Oh, and listen closely! If you hear the jungle drums, get ready for a special surprise. When the drums start beating, all the players must move their monkey miniatures one tree over. Quick, scurry along before you miss out on any banana action!

Monkeying Around

When you pick a Monkey Action card, look it over carefully. Each card has a special rule that can help you, or maybe even hinder your opponents. Play these cards at the right moment, and you’ll be one sly monkey!

Game Over, Banana Lovers!

When all the banana cards have been snatched up like a bunch of delicious treats, it’s time to count your loot. Add up the number of bananas you collected and declare yourself the Cheeky Monkey champion!

Now that you know how to play, gather up your friends and let the jungle adventure begin! Remember, in the game of Cheeky Monkey, it’s bananas or bust!

Hey there! Let’s get into the exciting world of the Cheeky Monkey game! First things first, we need to set things up. Place all the animal tokens into the bag and give it a good mix. The 8 bonus tiles, which have numbers on them indicating how many tokens of the corresponding animal are in the game, should be displayed face-up.

Now that everything is ready, it’s time to start playing! We’ll choose one player to go first, and then take turns in a clockwise order. Throughout the game, each player will collect animal tokens.

Game Play

Alright, get ready for your turn! Begin by drawing one token from the bag and place it face up in front of you. Just remember, don’t put it on your own personal stack.

Oh, and a quick note: your personal stack doesn’t have any tiles at the beginning, but it will grow as you collect animal tokens. Exciting, isn’t it? Get ready to have a blast with Cheeky Monkey!

If I see a top token on any of my opponents’ stacks that matches an animal on one of my tokens, I can take their token(s). And if I take a token, I can also take any newly revealed token on the stacks that shows the same matching animal, and keep going if there are more.

Alright, let’s get this game started! Here’s what you need to do:

First, gather all the animal tokens and lay them out in front of you. Remember, don’t include them in your personal stack. Make sure you don’t miss any matching animal tokens; you won’t be able to claim them later.

Now, it’s decision time! You have two options:

1. Continue your turn
2. Conclude your turn

1. Continue your Turn

If you choose to continue your turn, reach into the bag and draw another animal token. Place it in front of you.

• If the new token matches any of the animal tokens in front of you (excluding those in your stack), you must end your turn immediately. Return all the tokens in front of you to the bag, but don’t touch your stack.
• If the new token doesn’t match any animal token in front of you, repeat the process. Claim any matching tokens from the top of your opponents’ stacks.

When it’s my turn, I can only claim tokens that match the last animal token that was drawn. After that, I have to decide if I want to continue or end my turn.

Ending My Turn

To end my turn, I need to put all the tokens I’ve collected on top of my stack in any order I want. I’m not allowed to rearrange the tokens that are already in my stack. Only the top animal on my stack should be visible.

Special Rules

Securing an animal herd: If all the animal tokens I have in front of me are the same type, I can put them at the bottom of my stack and then end my turn.

Hey there, it’s time to talk about those cheeky monkeys: So, if you happen to pick a monkey token from the bag, you have two options (as long as you don’t lose your turn for copying).

You can choose to keep the monkey token and take any matching monkey tokens from the top of your opponents’ stacks. Or, if you’re feeling extra mischievous, you can be a cheeky monkey and swap your monkey token with a single token on the top of one of your opponents’ stacks.

Remember, you can have one or more tokens in front of you that match the swapped token, but you can’t claim any tokens from opponents that match the swapped token.

If you happen to draw another monkey token later on, you’ll be able to claim any monkey tokens from the top of your opponents’ stacks.

Here’s how the game ends:

The game comes to a close when all of the tokens have been added to stacks. When this happens, each player counts how many tokens they have for each of the eight animals.

If I have more tokens of one animal than anyone else, I get the special tile for that animal. But if there’s a tie, no one gets the tile. Then, we count up our scores. Each animal token is worth 1 point, and the special tile is worth anywhere from 3 to 10 points, depending on what’s on the tile.

The person with the most points is the winner. If two or more people have the same number of points, then the one with the highest special tile wins.

Rules for Kids

We put all the animal tokens in a bag and mix them up. We don’t use the special tiles. Then, we play the game following the same rules as before.

How to Finish the Game for Kids

The game is over when all the tokens are stacked up. The person with the most animal tokens (the tallest stack) is the winner.

Game Variation for Little Kids

Hey, I’ve got an important suggestion for you. Let’s shake things up a bit in the game! Take out those 9 dog tokens, and maybe even the 8 pig tokens too – it’s up to you. But one thing for sure, don’t worry about that “Cheeky Monkey” rule, it’s not in play this time.

By making these modifications, we can make the game shorter and easier to understand. It’s a win-win situation!
