How to Play

1. The game begins with one person, let’s call them “Player A,” starting the game by pressing their buzzer and saying a word that fits a given category. For example, if the category is “colors,” Player A could say “blue.”

2. Now it’s up to the player to the left of Player A, “Player B,” to quickly think of another word that fits the category and press their buzzer. For example, Player B could say “red.”

3. The game continues in this way, with players taking turns going clockwise around the circle. Each player must think of a new word that fits the category and say it out loud before pressing their buzzer.

4. The catch is that each player must start their word with the last letter of the previous word. So, if Player B said “red,” Player C could say “yellow.”

5. If a player can’t think of a word within a few seconds or repeats a word that has already been said, they are out of the game. They should turn off their buzzer and step out of the circle.

6. The game keeps going until there is only one player left. That player is crowned the winner of Bzz Out!

To begin, mix the cards well and deal them equally to each player, face down.

Create your Bee Hive by stacking your cards face down in front of you. Remember, no peeking allowed!

In the middle of the play area, place the Honey Pots. Before playing for the first time, carefully separate the Honey Pot chips from their sheet.

Let’s get started with the game! The dealer takes the first turn, and then play proceeds to the left, making sure each player gets a chance.

Now, in secret, take the top card from your Bee Hive and observe it closely.

When it’s your turn, you get to make a decision: do you want to keep your card or trade it with someone else?

If you like your card and want to keep it, just say “BeeKeeper”. But if you want to trade, you can only ask the person on your left if they want to swap with you. They have to trade unless they have a special Bzz Out card (you’ll learn about those below).

When we play a game of cards, the person with the highest card gets to take a Honey Pot. If two or more people have the same highest card, they both get a Honey Pot. And if someone has a Bzz Out card, they also get a Honey Pot.

After each round, we put the used cards face down in a separate pile next to our Bee Hive.

From the second round onwards, the person who had the highest card in the previous round gets to go first.

Bee Wise

Remember: The highest card or a Bzz Out card will get you a Honey Pot. If you have a low number or a Honey Bear card, you might want to swap it.

If you have a high number card, it’s a good idea to keep it. And make sure to hold onto that Bzz Out card!

Bzz out Cards

If you have a Bzz Out card, you can simply say “Bzz Out” to any player who wants to trade cards with you. It’s your secret power!

And when the round is over, don’t forget to claim your Honey Pot. You deserve it, busy bee!

Honey Bear Cards

I want to warn you about the Honey Bear card – it’s trouble. If you end up with that card, a sneaky bear will swipe one of your Honey Pots!

At the end of the round, if you still have a Honey Bear card, you have to return one of your Honey Pots to the center. No punishment if you don’t have any pots left.

The Game’s End

Crowning the Queen

Keep playing until someone manages to collect 4 Honey Pots and becomes the Queen Bee. It takes skill to reach that level!

If two or more players earn their 4th Honey Pot at the same time, they each become a Queen Bee. Alternatively, you can organize a Bee-Off and keep playing rounds until someone has more Honey Pots than everyone else.

If the cards run out before we find our Queen Bee, don’t worry! Just shuffle all the discarded cards, deal new Bee Hives, and keep on playing.

Other Fun Ways to Play

If you’re playing with younger kids, you can make the game easier by not using the Bzz Out cards, the Honey Bear cards, or both.

Looking for a longer game? Bee-fore you begin, decide on a higher number of Honey Pots (such as 5, 6, or even more) needed to become the Queen Bee.

Don’t have enough Honey Pots? No problem! You can use candies, coins, or anything else you have on hand.
