Now you should have three cards in your hand, and right in front of you, make a pile called 3UP 3DOWN.

Don’t forget to put the rest of the cards, all shuffled up, facing downwards. This is called the draw pile.

When you play a card, its value must be equal to or greater than the value of the card on top of the discard pile. If the discard pile is open or cleared, you can play any card on it.

If you have to pick up from the discard pile, you can’t play any of your remaining 3UP cards until you’ve played all the cards in your hand. So prioritize and strategize!

When you finish playing all of your 3UP cards, it’s time to turn the table and play one 3DOWN card on each turn. But if you find yourself unable to play your 3DOWN card and have to pick up the cards in the discard pile, you won’t be able to look at or play any of your remaining 3DOWN cards until you’ve played all the cards in your hand.

Remember: You don’t have to reveal your 3DOWN card to the other players if you can’t play.

Clear Cards

Note: If you play the “Clear + 2” card from the 3UP 3D0WN pile and the value of the second card you play is lower than the value of the first card you play, you have to pick up the cards in the discard pile.

Numbered Cards

To play a numbered card, the number on the card must be the same or higher than the number on the card in the discard pile.

Note 1: You can play multiple cards with the same number on your turn. Plus, if three or more cards with the same number are played in a row, by the same player or different players, it clears the discard pile.

Note 2: The color of the cards doesn’t matter during the game. But for faster games with 2 to 4 players, you can use cards with fewer colors if you want to.
