Get ready to dive into the world of mystery and intrigue. Let the countdown begin! 30 seconds on the clock, and your first mystery awaits…

1. Alright, here’s how it goes. We’re gonna split into teams. You and your pals will sit on one side of the table, while the other team sits on the opposite side. Now, which team you’re on depends on the age. If you’ve got the youngest player, congrats! You’re Team 1. If not, well, you’re Team 2.
2. Alright, now that we’ve got our teams sorted, let’s set up the game. Place the stand right in the middle of the table, between the two teams.
3. Each team gets to choose a scoring peg. Once you’ve picked your peg, stick it in the hole on the bottom right side of the base.
4. Now it’s time to get to the mystery-solving part. Take one of those “30 Second Mysteries” cards and slide it into the middle of the stand. It should go all the way to the bottom, so you can only see “The Case” and “The Mystery” parts.

How to Play the Game

Let’s get started! To play the game, all you need to do is slide the card upward until you see a thick black line. This line will reveal a clue for each team. Once the clue is revealed, flip over the timer.

Now, Team 1 has 30 seconds to read their clue and ask a question to Team 2. It’s important to ask a question that relates to the clue. And don’t worry, there’s no right or wrong answer! Team 2 just needs to do their best to answer the question.

After Team 2 gives their answer, it’s their turn to flip over the timer and ask Team 1 a question. Team 1 will do their best to answer the question based on their clue.

This back and forth continues as teams reveal one clue at a time and take turns asking questions. Remember, once a clue is revealed, it stays that way. So, teams need to use all the information they have to give their best answers.

Solving the Riddle

Instead of just asking a question, you and your team can work together to solve the riddle! Once your team comes up with an answer, slide the card up until the fifth black line appears. Then, both teams can lift up the flap labeled “Solution” to see if you got it right!

Scoring

If your team guesses correctly, congratulations! You earn one point and can place your scoring peg in the bottom hole of the five holes on your right.

If your team guesses incorrectly, don’t worry! The other team will get a point instead and can place their scoring peg in the bottom hole of the five holes on their right.

Every time your team correctly solves a riddle, you can move your peg up one hole. But be careful! If you try to solve a riddle and give the wrong answer, the other team gets to move their peg up one hole instead.

No Solution Announced

If neither team can guess the answer and all five of the clues are visible, it’s time to flip over the timer. Now, both teams should write down their guesses on the writing slates.

When the timer runs out, it’s time to reveal the solutions. Each team that correctly answers the mystery gets a point. That means both teams have a chance to earn points.

What’s Next?

After scoring, remove the 30 Second Mysteries card from the stand and replace it with a new card.

The team with the lowest score gets to go first in the next round. If both teams are tied, the team that went last in the previous round goes first this time.

End Game

The first team to score five points, indicated by moving its peg to the top hole, wins the game.
