Assassin

When the Assassin targets Lords, their Influence Points are the only thing that matters at the end of the game. Their Power and any Keys they have don’t have any effect anymore. It’s like they’re turned to face a different direction, 90 degrees from where they were before.

But even though the Assassin takes away their Influence Points, the targeted Lords are still free. They can be discarded by the Traitor or the Schemer. And when a replacement Lord comes into play, they are immune to the Assassin’s effect. They can use their Powers and Keys without any issue.

So, imagine you’re playing a game called Master of Magic. You’re faced with a choice – do you fight a Monster even though the Threat token is on the first space of the Threat track? Well, here’s the thing: even if you decide to go for it, you’ll still get the reward that’s linked to that space. Pretty cool, huh? It’s like a little bonus for taking on the challenge.

When you meet the requirements for recruitment, something interesting happens. The weakest ally becomes a part of the team. But that’s not all! The Lord steps in and unleashes their power. This power, however, only affects future recruits. If an ally was already affiliated before the Master of Magic joined the game, their recruitment remains unchanged. So, what does this mean? It means that when you meet the conditions for recruitment, you not only gain a new ally but also unlock the potential of the Lord’s power. It’s like adding a secret weapon to your arsenal. Pretty cool, huh? But wait, there’s more! I have to tell you about the traitor and schemer.

Hey there! So, when you bring in one of these two Lords, you get to unleash their Power on one of your other free Lords – y’know, the ones you haven’t used to control a Location yet.

Now, here’s the interesting part – the Assassin’s Power, for instance, can also go after the Lords affected by the Traitor and the Schemer (check out Assassin for more deets).

But wait, there’s more! As soon as you bring in the new Lord to the game, you can make use of their Power right away. Pretty cool, huh?
