Rise of Tribes Advanced Rules

I have some exciting news for you about Rise of Tribes! There is a way to take your game to the next level by introducing some advanced rules. These rules add an extra layer of complexity and strategy to the game, so if you’re up for a challenge, you’ll definitely love them!

One of the cool advanced rules you can try out is the Action Dice. With this rule, you get to roll dice at the start of each turn to determine your available actions. This adds an element of luck to the game and requires you to make strategic decisions based on the results of your dice rolls. It’s a fascinating twist that keeps the gameplay fresh and unpredictable.

Another advanced rule that you can explore is the Event Cards. These cards introduce unexpected events into the game that can alter the course of play. They can bring both beneficial and challenging effects, making every turn a thrilling experience. Will you be fortunate and get a bonus, or will you have to face a difficult challenge? With the Event Cards, you never know what’s coming next!

The Advanced Technology Tiles are another fascinating addition to the game. These tiles offer special abilities that can give you an edge over your opponents. They can help you grow your tribe faster, gather resources more efficiently, or defend against attacks. With the Advanced Technology Tiles, you have the opportunity to create a unique strategy that suits your playstyle and increases your chances of victory.

Lastly, if you’re in the mood for even more variety, you can consider using the optional Monument Cards. These cards provide you with additional victory conditions that you can work towards. They offer new challenges and goals, keeping the game exciting and engaging. Will you build a mighty monument that stands as a testament to your tribe’s greatness, or will you focus on other strategies to secure victory? The choice is yours!

By incorporating these advanced rules into your games of Rise of Tribes, you’ll open up a whole new world of possibilities. You’ll have to think carefully, adapt your strategy on the fly, and embrace the unpredictability of the game. So, if you’re ready to challenge yourself and experience Rise of Tribes on a whole new level, give these advanced rules a try and see where they take you. Happy gaming!

Once you’ve played Rise of Tribes a few times, you can kick it up a notch with some cool advanced modes:

First off, there’s the Tribal Elders. These special tribe members hop onto the board and give you a kickass new power.

Then, we’ve got the Special Terrain. This mode spices things up by adding fancy new tiles to the map.

And let’s not forget about the Leader powers. Each tribe gets its own unique abilities that can really shake up the game.

Now, here’s the really fun part—you can mix and match these modes however you want. Play with one, two, or all three of them in a single game to keep things fresh and exciting!

Tribal Elders

Activation

When I’m building my village in the game, I have the option to bring out the Elder. The Elder is placed on the newly built village, and then I can use its effect. It’s important to note that the Elder doesn’t add to the population count of the hex or affect conflict.

The Elder’s Effect

Here’s the exciting part – once per turn, I have the ability to give a resource to another player. Not only that, but I can also use the ability of any single development that player has completed. It’s like a double-edged sword of generosity and strategy.

The Risk Involved

However, there’s a risk involved. If the village holding the Elder is destroyed by an opponent, they gain 1 point. On top of that, the Elder is removed from play, and I can no longer use its effect. It’s a devastating loss. But here’s the silver lining – I can bring the Elder back into play with the next village I build. It’s a chance for redemption.

Special Terrain

Hey there! Did you know that during the game set up, you can switch out some of the regular terrain tiles with special ones? Pretty cool, right?

These special terrain tiles bring some extra excitement to the game. They can give you bonuses, make certain areas more challenging to navigate, or even introduce hazards. It’s totally up to you!

So, here’s the deal: you can choose one special terrain tile or mix and match a few of them to create your own unique scenario. It’s like customizing your game to make it more interesting and unpredictable.

But here’s the thing: even though you’re using special terrain tiles, they still count as the basic land types they were swapped with. So, don’t worry, they won’t mess up your goals, events, or the resources you produce.

Great Lake, Mountain and Forest

Do you like lakes, mountains, and forests? Well, guess what? You can swap these tiles!

And here’s a special bonus: the great lands give you an additional resource when you gather!

What are Wild Lands?

Swap With: Any basic terrain tile.

Counts As: All basic terrain tiles.

Special: When you gather resources from the wild land, you can choose any combination of resources. You can only use this ability once during each gathering action.

Jungle and Desert Oasis

When you’re exploring the wild land in the game, you have the opportunity to swap out any basic terrain tile with a Jungle or Desert Oasis. These unique tiles count as any basic terrain tile, allowing you to adapt the land to your advantage.

One of the special features of the Jungle and Desert Oasis is their ability to provide a variety of resources when you gather from them. Unlike other tiles, where you are limited to a specific resource, these tiles let you choose a combination of resources that suits your needs. This flexibility gives you more control over your strategy and allows you to make the most out of your actions.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that you can only trigger this ability once during each gathering action. This means that you need to carefully consider which combination of resources will be most valuable to you at that moment. Plan ahead and make sure to take full advantage of the versatility that the Jungle and Desert Oasis tiles offer.

So, if you’re looking for a way to shake up your gameplay and add an extra layer of complexity to your decisions, then the Jungle and Desert Oasis tiles are perfect for you. They provide a unique and exciting twist to the game, allowing you to adapt the landscape and gather resources in a way that suits your strategy. Make sure to keep these tiles in mind as you explore the wild land and make your mark on the game board.

Swap with/counts As: I can swap any forest tile for a Jungle tile, and any lake tile for a Desert Oasis tile.

Special: On these terrains, you need to have 3 tribe members there before you can GATHER from this tile. Once you meet that requirement, the tiles will produce the usual amount according to GATHER.

Tar Pit

Swap with: You can substitute this tile with any lake tile.

Counts as: When considering the effects of other tiles, this tile is essentially treated as a lake tile.

Special: There is a special rule for this tile. If, after the conflict phase, there is only one member of a tribe on this tile, that tribe member is removed from the game. It’s like they got trapped in some sticky tar! Each tribe is checked individually to see if this condition applies.

Glacier

Let’s get started: I’m going to place the glacier tile on top of one of the mountain tiles. Even though it’s a glacier, it still counts as a mountain for events, gathering, and goals.

Something special: The glacier tile can only have a maximum of 3 people living on it and can’t have a village. It also produces a maximum of 1 stone during the gathering phase, regardless of any developments.

Every time a player gets the maximum benefit from an action, which is having 2 sun symbols, we place a stone resource on the glacier. As soon as the 5th stone resource is placed, the glacier melts and is taken off the board. The 5 stone resources are then available for the next player who wants to gather resources from the mountain below.

Advanced Play Leader Powers

Leader Powers

Once you’re comfortable with the base game, you can try this Leader Powers variant. Flip your player board over to reveal your leader, and then choose one of the two powers on your tribe’s special Leader Card.
