Poker with Two Hands
I want to win the pot by having the best hand.
We need 2-5 players to play this game.
Let’s play with a deck of 52 cards.
The cards are ranked in this order: A (high), K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
Today, we’re playing a casino-style game.
This game is for adults only.
Let’s Get Started
There are a few different types of Poker that use two hands in the game. Two examples are Chinese Poker and Pai Gow Poker. In this guide, I’ll explain some specific Poker games that use two hands. But, keep in mind that you should already be familiar with regular Poker and the Poker Hand Rankings to understand this.
Now, let’s talk about Open Face Chinese Poker. It’s important not to confuse this game with the Chinese Poker variant we mentioned earlier. The main thing to remember is that Open Face Chinese Poker is played with three hands, not two.
Welcome to Henway!
In this game, we play with up to 5 players. Each player gets 10 cards after putting in an ante.
We then split our 10 cards into 2 five-card hands. Once we’ve organized our hands, we flip over the top card of each hand for everyone to see. Then, we start betting. We keep repeating this process for our second, third, and fourth cards. After the fourth round of betting, it’s time to reveal our hands. The player with the highest-ranking hand and the player with the lowest-ranking hand split the pot evenly.
Don’t Regret Those 10 Cards!
Just like Henway, Ten Card Regrets is a split pot game for no more than five players. Each player receives 10 cards, and we arrange them into a low hand on the left and a high hand on the right.
When you play poker, the first thing you do is put in some money, called an “ante.” Then, the dealer gives each player two cards, but they’re face-down so no one else can see them. Now it’s time to make a decision. Do I want these cards to be part of my left hand? My right hand? Or one for each hand?
After everyone has made their choice, it’s time to bet. You can bet more money if you think you have a good hand, or you can fold and not play this round.
Once the betting is done, the dealer gives everyone two more cards. This happens a few times, with more betting after each round of cards.
After a while, everyone will have two five-card hands. Once a card goes into a hand, it can’t be moved. And each hand can’t have more than five cards.
Now it’s time to see who wins. The pot of money is divided between the player with the highest hand and the player with the lowest hand. But be careful! You have to win the right way. If you have a high hand, you can’t win the low hand.
Let’s try a different kind of poker game: Cowpie Poker.
The process and rules for the game are the same as in Seven Card Stud. This game is often summarized as “two down, four up, one down.” This refers to how the cards are dealt and the betting rounds that happen in between.
Once every player has received seven cards, they separate them into two hands: a five-card hand and a two-card hand. The cards that were dealt face-up and face-down stay in their original positions. The five-card hand must be ranked higher than the two-card hand and must include at least one face-down card. After a final round of betting, it’s time for the showdown. The pot of money is divided between the player with the best five-card hand and the one with the best two-card hand.
