Uh-oh, here come the volcano board game rules!

Hey there, friend! I’m about to break down the rules for this epic volcano board game. So get ready, because things are about to heat up!

How to Play

First things first, let’s talk about how this game works. You and your friends will take turns spinning the spinner. The spinner will land on different colors, which represent different actions you can take on the game board.

Each player has their own little scientist game piece, and you’ll use it to move around the board. The goal is to collect as many volcano cards as possible before the volcano erupts!

Volcano Cards

Now, let’s dive into those volcano cards. Each card has a different number of points on it. Some cards might give you more points, while others might give you fewer. You never know what you’re going to get!

But be careful, because there are also action cards in the mix. These cards can either help you out or throw a wrench in your plans. It’s all part of the volcanic adventure!

Volcano Eruption

You gotta keep an eye on that volcano! As you collect cards, the pressure builds up. Once the volcano meter reaches its limit, kaboom! The volcano erupts, and the game is over.

But don’t worry, my friend. It’s not all doom and gloom. The player with the most volcano points at the end of the game is the winner. So make sure you collect those cards strategically!

Final Thoughts

So there you have it, folks. Now you know the ins and outs of the volcano board game. Will you be able to handle the pressure and come out on top? It’s time to find out!

Uh-oh! Brace yourself for a thrilling adventure with Oh No, Volcano! This exciting game puts you in the driver’s seat as you navigate a treacherous volcano in search of precious treasure. Get ready to outsmart the fiery lava balls and claim victory!

WHAT YOU’LL GET

Hey there! So, let’s talk about the volcano board. It’s a pretty cool thing, and you’ll need to do a little construction to get it set up. Basically, you just have to connect all the pieces and attach them to the bottom of the box. Think of it like a Plinko board – you know, like in that game where you drop a coin and watch it bounce around? Yeah, just like that.

Now, when it comes to playing the game, you’ll get a double-sided player board. It’s designed for up to four players, and it’s where you’ll keep track of all the cool stuff you’ve collected and your little climber cards. Oh, and speaking of climbers, you’ll each have your own set of explorer pawns. They come in four different colors, so you can race each other up the volcano!

But wait, there’s more! You’ll also have an eighteen-card gear deck. These cards are super helpful during your climb. They’ll give you some extra assistance along the way. Nice, right?

Now, here’s the fun part – trying to knock your opponents off the volcano! You’ll have three lava balls to roll down and hopefully send your rivals tumbling. And to keep yourself safe, you’ll also have three boulder blockers. They’ll protect you from getting knocked down by those pesky lava balls.

Lastly, we have the treasure tokens. These little guys are what it’s all about! You’ll be collecting emeralds, rubies, and sapphires as you make your way up the volcano. The more treasure you grab, the better!

SETUP

Alright, let’s get started with putting together the volcano! First, attach it to the box bottom. Now, we need to make sure all the treasure tokens and boulder blockers are easily accessible to everyone. Place them within reach of all the players.

The next step is to take the shuffled deck of gear cards and place it face down in the middle of the table. This deck will be used throughout the game to help us on our adventure.

Now, let’s deal with the lava balls. There are three of them, and they go in the box bottom at the base of the volcano. Be careful not to let them escape!

Alright, it’s time to choose our colors! Each player will pick a pawn color and receive their matching player board and climber cards. If there are only two of us playing, we’ll use the 2 player side of the player board. If we have three or four players, we’ll use the other side. It’s important to set up the board correctly for the number of players.

Before we start the game, we need to shuffle the climber cards. Once they’re all mixed up, place them face down on the player board. This will be our special deck of cards that we can use during the game.

Lastly, each player should draw three cards from their climber card deck to form their starting hand. These cards will give us a head start on our adventure.

Now, let’s begin the play and embark on our exciting volcano adventure!

When my turn starts, I get to make a move by playing a card from my hand or a gear card. Gear cards are these special cards that I can collect when I fall from the volcano. I can keep up to three gear cards above my player board, no more than that.

Once I’ve played a card, I have to do everything on it, in order. There are three actions I can take: move, place a boulder blocker, or drop a lava ball.

MOVE

When it’s time to move, you’ll find out which pawn is ready to go and how far it can travel. If you see a question mark on the picture for the move, that means you get to choose which pawn you want to move. First, any pawns on the player board must be placed on the bottom row of pegs, and this counts as one movement. After that, you can move your pawns to the left, right, or even up the volcano at an angle. Each peg counts as one move. And now, you can move your explorer pawns through other pawns or boulder blockers. Remember, you don’t have to move all the way to the end. In fact, you don’t have to move your pawn at all if you don’t want to. Sometimes, you just won’t be able to make a move.

When you land on a treasure space, you can collect that treasure if you have an empty space for it on your player board. But be careful! Once you’ve filled all the spaces for a particular type of treasure, you can’t collect any more of it. And remember, you can’t leave your pawns at the top row of the volcano.

There are two cave entrances that can help you move quickly. If you land exactly on a cave entrance, you can move your pawn up the volcano to the matching cave exit. But there’s a catch! You can only move up the volcano, and if another player is already on the exit space, you can’t use the cave shortcut.

Block the Path with a Boulder

When you’re playing this game, start by grabbing a boulder blocker and placing it on the volcano using two pegs. If there are already three blockers on the volcano, you’ll need to remove one carefully and put it wherever you want. Just remember not to place the blockers on an already occupied space or on the top row of the volcano.

LAUNCH A LAVA BALL

So here’s the deal: pick a lava ball and drop it into the chute with the matching number. The ball might tumble all the way down without causing any trouble, in which case you can consider yourself lucky. But if any explorer pawns get knocked off the volcano, they have to go back to their player boards. If a pawn gets hit but manages to stay on its original spot, it’s safe. But if a falling pawn knocks another one off, that counts as getting hit by the lava ball. Even if a pawn doesn’t make it all the way down, it still has to go back to its player board. Sometimes the lava ball can get stuck and not do any damage. Just put it back in its original spot on the board.

When a pawn is knocked off the volcano, I get to collect gear cards. Each pawn knocked down equals one gear card. But here’s the catch: I can only have three gear cards at a time. So if I end up with four or more gear cards, I have to discard enough to bring it back down to three.

What Happens Next?

Once I’ve finished carrying out all the actions on the card I just played, I need to discard it into the appropriate discard pile. If I played a climber card, I get to draw three more climber cards to replenish my hand. But if I played a gear card, I don’t get to draw any more cards.

As for the turn order, we just keep going clockwise around the table.

And the Winner Is…
