Hey there! Let’s talk about an exciting game called Monster Maker. The goal of this game is to be the first player to create a monster using 6 Monster Piece cards. Sounds fun, right?
Getting Started
When you’re ready to play, make sure each player has their own deck of Monster Piece cards. Give each player 5 cards from their deck – these will be their starting hand. Keep the rest of the cards nearby, as you’ll need them later.
Playing the Game
To begin, the youngest player goes first. On your turn, you can either draw a card from the deck or play a Monster Piece card from your hand. If you choose to draw a card, simply take one from the deck and add it to your hand. If you decide to play a Monster Piece card, place it face-up in front of you, showing off your monstrous creation.
Each Monster Piece card is labeled with a body part, such as a head, torso, arms, or legs. As you play cards, try to match the body parts to create a complete monster. Be creative and mix and match different parts to make your monster truly unique!
There’s a special rule when it comes to leg cards – you can’t have more than one pair of legs on your monster. So choose wisely!
Play continues clockwise, with each player taking turns to either draw a card or play a Monster Piece card. Keep going until someone has collected 6 Monster Piece cards and completes their monster. That player is the winner!
Now that you know the basics, grab your Monster Piece cards and get ready to create some incredible monsters. Have fun and let your imagination run wild!

- Let’s mix up the Monster cards and each of us can draw one. This card will show us the Monster we need to create in order to win. Keep your card face up in front of you. We won’t be using the other Monster cards.

Alright, here’s the deal. The dealer shuffles the Parts cards and hands each player 6 cards, which they place face up in front of them. That way, we can all see what we’ve got.
Now, if anyone was unlucky and ended up with Trade cards (
), don’t worry. The dealer will make things right. They’ll give you extra cards until you have exactly 6 Monster Piece cards. Keep in mind, Trade cards have their own purpose in the game, so having more of them is actually a good thing. Trust me, you’ll see.

So, here’s what’s going on: the dealer takes all the remaining Parts cards and places them face down on the Game Mat, right on top of the Draw Pile.
Picture this: the dealer has a bunch of Parts cards left, and they decide to keep them hidden by putting them face down. They do this by carefully placing the cards on the Game Mat, right on top of the Draw Pile.
Now, you might be wondering why they would do this. Well, it’s all part of the game strategy. By putting the Parts cards face down, the dealer keeps their contents a secret. This adds an element of surprise and mystery to the game, making it more exciting and unpredictable.
So, next time you play, keep an eye on those face-down Parts cards. You never know what surprises they might hold!

When I play the game, I make sure to arrange all the Monster Piece cards that belong to my monster. It’s important to remember that I always have 6 Monster Piece cards throughout the game.
Playing the Game
Every time it’s my turn, I have three options:
- I can choose a Parts card from the Draw Pile.
- I can take the top card from the Garbage Pile.
- I can play a Trade Card.
A. Choosing a Parts Card from the Draw Pile
If the card I draw from the Draw Pile is a Monster Piece card, I can decide to keep it or discard it into the Garbage Pile. If I choose to keep it, I must discard another Monster Piece card so that I always have exactly 6 Monster Piece cards.
If the card I draw from the Draw Pile is a Trade card, I have the option to play it right away or save it for later. If I decide to save it, I don’t need to discard any cards.
B. Taking the Top Card from the Garbage Pile
When you choose to grab the Monster Piece card on top of the Garbage Pile, you’ll need to throw away another Monster Piece card to keep your total at 6.
C. Trade card action

When I play a Trade 1 card, I start by getting rid of the Trade card by putting it in the Trade Discard area of my Play Mat.
After that, I get to choose any Monster Piece card from another player and give them one of my Monster Piece cards in return.
I can make trades to build up my monster or to take away pieces from my opponent’s monster. But I can’t trade Trade cards.

When you play a Trade 2 card, it works just like playing a Trade 1 card. The only difference is that now you have the option to trade 2 Monster Piece cards with 1 opponent or 1 Monster Piece card each with 2 opponents.

When you play a Garbage Trade card, the first thing you do is discard it to the Trade Discard pile. After that, you take the entire Garbage Pile and choose a Monster Piece from anywhere in the pile.
Next, you discard a Monster Piece card onto the top of the Garbage Pile, so you always have exactly 6 Monster Piece cards. It’s important to play the Garbage Trade card before you start looking through the Garbage Pile.
End of the Game
The winner is the first player to complete their Monster!
